Hello All,

Planning my quit just a bit afraid of the unknown, of course I guess the known is that I will live longer when i do.  I'm sure you've all been right where I am now.

Hey bro,

What exactly are you planning?  My advise, dump out what remaining chew you have, throw away the tins, go to the February '19 Quit Group and post your first daily promise not to use nicotine for today.

We quit one day at a time here.  24 hours.  You can go without nicotine for 24 hours, can't you?  Then tomorrow, wake up, pee and login and post your promise for that day.  Keep doing that every day and you will succeed.  Right now, you would be the first quitter for that month but there is already a ton of support in that group from all of us in other groups.

So what are you waiting for?  Every second you procrastinate, is another opportunity for the nic bitch to keep her claws dug in deep to you.

Here is the link:  http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=697.30 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=697.30)

Go there now.  Also, I am sending you a Private Message with my phone number.  You will want to get as many people's digits as you can and make sure you give yours out too.  That is how thwe accountability part works.

Go now. Post up.

Of course we have all planned our quits!! We all planned to quit after we graduated college, planned to quit when we got married, planned to quit when we had kids, planned to quit when we had our second kid, planned to quit after that promotion, planned to quit when we retired, planned to quit when we finished that "last" can, blah, blah, blah.

See the theme? Because we are all addicts and fighting an addiction, the addict part of our brain wants us to plan our quit because that means that we will never actually quit.

Go read my intro. It's a couple intros down from yours here. Go read my HOF speech (link in my signature). I tried to plan my quit when I joined here, I was told to dive in instantly and you know what, I did just that. 914 days (2.5 years today actually!) later, I have given my promise each and every day that I will remain quit and I have kept my word for 914 days.

Don't get hung up on the the fear of being able to quit forever. Our brains get scared since we know how hard it can be. At KTC we focus on TODAY. It's all we control and frankly all we can handle. So flush whatever you might have at the moment, and get into the February pre-HOF group (link: http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=697.30 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=697.30)) and post your promise TODAY. You will receive an overwhelming and outpouring of support, I can guarantee it.

Hello All,

As stated by Chris and MNx, just quit.  Fact of the matter, it won’t be any easier tomorrow than it is today, no easier next week than it is right now! Pull the trigger, you will be thankful when you look back from the future.

Do not fear the unknown, KTC pulled the curtain back from nicotine.  In various pages, this website clearly outlines what to expect ... therefore, no unknowns to fear.  In fact, here as a link to a great list of what to expect (spoiler alert: there is no hairy monster ;D): What to Expect, Click Me (https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/).

Is it difficult, yes.  Is it impossible, NO.  Can you do it, YES!

Quit now and use the tools of this site, they are effective.  I can attest to this as I sit 95 days nicotine free!

Welcome justdontdoit.  I am on Day 7.  I was scared like you.  The first day I still had my can close in case I needed, but resisted the urge.  Had my wife dump it out when I got home from work that day and haven't looked back.  Read my introduction Hello everyone day 1 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=686.0/) it may help you out.

Planning my quit, something I did for about 30 years.  Afraid of the unknown is no excuse, start by making the promise today.  Don't worry about tomorrow just take this one day at a time.

You have one advantage - you found this website, all you need to do is go here:  http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=697.30 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=697.30) and make that promise to quit.  There are many people waiting to support you.  All you need to do is jump in now!

justdontdoit - i think you should justdoit. It is simple. Do you want to keep risking your life so you can put crap in your lip? I dipped for 37 years. With the help of my brothers and sisters, as well as the tools on this site, I am 22 days nic free. I am 52 years old and am proud of myself. That is a great feeling. Take charge of your life and come join us. You will not be alone. ODAAT - one day at a time.
