Trying to make it thru day 4. Sure would be easy to run across the street for a can. Ugh! I can make it. I think. No. I know I will.
Do all the reading on this site that you can.
Get into chat.
Work out a plan to deal with the craves that will come. Here's something I wrote a little while back that may be of help:

Hey CBird,

Welcome to the fun! You may not think of your quit as "fun" right now but it gets better down the road.

I don't see a roll post in April for you. Head on over there and post, promising not to use any form of nicotine today. Keep your word and do the same tomorrow. You'll be surprised how quickly the quit days will roll up, but remember to focus on quitting TODAY only; it's the only moment you have power to control.

Read everything you can in the WELCOME CENTER. Information is power.

If you need anything, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Do smokeless alternatives make it harder to quit? 'help'
If you mean anything with nicotine- then a resounding YES!!! That just prolongs your withdrawal, kind of like torturing yourself for no reason.

If you mean fake dip- then my answer is NO. Fake dip it made it much easier for me.
Should have been more specific. Fake Dip is what I meant. Just found out Wal-Mart sells Smokey Mtn. Snuff. My way of thinking is if is goes in like a pinch am I cheating myself even though it's fake?
Whatever it takes to keep nicotine and carcinogens out of your mouth. That is the way I see it.
I used fake stuff for my first 200 days or so. It REALLY helped me (at least I think).

One day, I just stopped putting it in. Just like I stopped power eating seeds. Just like I stopped eating peanut MM's by the fist full. Just like I stopped power slamming coffee until 7 pm.

But it took me that long to get secure enough with my quit.

How did I do it? With the help of this site, and the 'One day at a time' mantra.

PM me if you need some help bro.
I used it for the first 150 days of my quit, and gave it up earlier this month.

Why?

I had been tiring of it as it was, but I saw another quitter with over 1000 days give addict eyes after trying it from the first time since quitting. I decided it was my last piece of my quit that needed to be let go that day.

If you use it from the onset, I don't see an issue in it. But I would not suggest picking it up out of the blue because that could be dangerous.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

I want everyone to be quit. Even the assholes.-Probe1957 1/18

Ignoring history or erasing history fixes nothing and leads you inevitably down the same path.-69franx 04/30/2021

If you mean anything with nicotine- then a resounding YES- nicotine replacement therapy makes it harder to quit..actually you are not quitting anything at all- you are still using the substance you are addicted to, you just changed the delivery method. Weaning off of nicotine just prolongs your withdrawal, kind of like torturing yourself for no reason.

If you mean fake dip- then my answer is NO- it does not make it harder. Fake dip it made it much easier for me.
