Just trying to get some advice or feedback. I'm in day 27 of my quit and I don't have the nic fits anymore and for the most part I can chew gum or mints and try to keep my mind off of chewing. I am finding that it is getting harder to stay focused on why I quit and I am relying more on the fake snuff to get past those times. At the beginning of my quit, the urge to stay quit was much more intense and that is fading. Is this some sort of post quit doldrums and what have guys done to get past it. I don't think I am in danger of caving but the feeling of something missing is getting stronger.
We call those "doldrums" the "funks." They come and go at certain stages as our quits progress. Partly they are physical: You are coming down a bit off the intensity of the first days of struggling to stay quit. Partly they are psychological: It's tough to keep our mental focus strong without some rest every now and then. Finally, partly they are a trick of the nicBitch: She wants you to feel blah about your quit (bored); she wants to redirect your focus so that it's easier to trip you with a crave; she wants you to think that you've got this thing down when you're really just beginning.

Get into CHAT or call some brothers on the phone. Construct some plans for how you will remain quit each day. Post roll with some other quitters and get some encouragement. Most importantly, talk it over with your quit group. Many are probably experiencing the same thing.

The funks usually go away after several days. Recognize the funk for what it is and move forward.

Proverbs 18:2

"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion."

A Quit Plan: Do you have one?

CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit.
After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco. SportDad 1/13/05

Warm summer sun, shine kindly here;
Warm southern wind, blow softly here;
Green sod above, lie light, lie light.-
Good-night, dear heart, good-night.

Got a call from Heartland Blood center.. They have some pediatric and nursery patients that needed my blood type.. So I went in and donated..

Six different kids.. Makes me very happy to know that there is no nicotine floating around in my blood so that when they give it to those kids and babies I won't be fostering an addiction in their young lives..

Because of this site and all of the ramifications and spillover blessings of getting off nicotine.. Such as taking my life back in other areas, this blood comes from a man who is arguably in the best shape of his entire adult life.

Hopefully it will help these kids get well...

Feeling good after day 5. Having small moments of craving that feel monumental! spicy cinnamon hard candy seem to help. Also feeling a little lost or disoriented. Definitely having headaches coming and going! Pretty amazed Im doing this cold turkey. Without any nic gum or patch. Just straight QUIT!
That's awesome! I'm quitting cold turkey as well and want to sleep all of the time. Day 3
Good for you keep it up. I find that everytime I don't cave it's a personal victory. Keep up the good fight.
We all crave gents but they become fewer and farther between. Shutting the door every second and not giving in everyday is the victory. We win a moment at a time. Y'all staying strong helps everyone else... Your efforts are appreciated! Day 155.
