Hour 26 of my quit. Tried posting to quit group, but it wasn't showing any replies. Not sure what I was doing incorrectly.

I tried to start a new topic, but was denied. Apologies if this post is in the wrong place, but I tried and failed to quit today.

DAMN! Awoke a 6am and only made it to 1pm before I used the last bit of Kodiak left in my can.

'bang head'

Been dipping on and off for 25+ years...the "off" was a 15 year or so stint as a smoker. My wife and I both quit smoking five years ago. She's still tobacco-free...I didn't even finish my Chantix script before I was back on dip. While I'm glad my lungs are healthier, I really do want to kick nicotine.

I feel like I need something in my lip, and a plan to deal with these first 3 days...hell, honestly the first 3 hours....

Where can I get some of the fake stuff? Is it mail order only?
To answer your question about fake go here:
http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/alternatives.asp

Getting at some bigger issues:

If you're going to quit, you need to get rid of every (and I mean every) bit of nicotine in your possession. Toss it; flush it; piss in it, if that is what it takes to keep you away.

Next, this is a nicotine-free site. Also dump the Chantix. It'll only prolong the agony of withdrawal.

We do this one day at a time. I noticed that you didn't post roll yesterday, nor today. Is that correct? If so, trash the stuff and get over to April 2012 and put your name on roll call. Posting roll means that you are making your promise to the group to remain quit for this day. Post roll; keep your promise; do the same tomorrow. The accountability of roll call is key to making this quit stick.

You can chew seeds, gum, red fireballs, etc., to keep the craves at bay until you find some fake stuff. Also, drink lots of water and get plenty of exercise.

Finally, you need a course of action for the times when the craves may get overwhelming. This link provides some advice but you need to get some numbers from people you can call for support.

Contact me ASAP if I can help further. You can do this! And it is worth the fight!!

day 7 for me and THIS SUCKS!! But i know i can do it cause I WANT TO!! Ive seen you guys talking about this fake chew and that just makes me want the real deal. What is keeping me going is the face i wont have a nasty spit cup with me, clean teeth, my girlfriend wont be afraid to kiss me and the money i will save. I am very glad i found this sight!!
Dustin,

Congrats on the week of quit!!! You're on your way to freedom.

You're absolutely right; the first days of quitting do suck. Never forget how bad these days are because you never want to go back to them and start over. Push through this once and it can be behind you completely.

For now it's one day at a time. I see you've posted a Day 1 in April. Keep true to that promise today and repeat it again tomorrow . . . . Each day of quit will erode the grip that nic has on you.

One other thing: You're quitting for yourself. Not for your girlfriend. She will undoubtedly reap benefits from your quit, but you've got to want this for yourself. If you quit for her, you may end up blaming all the difficulties of the quit on her and lash out.

Contact me ASAP, if you need anything.

It's worth the fight!!

This is a hard habit to kick not sure how all of you have done it but i would like some suggestions if anybody has some
Post Roll Call everyday. Honor your word today. Repat tomorrow.

It really is that simple. Sure it's gonna suck. Suck bad. Suck for a while...but it's worth it.

Follow the welcome center link. Read #4. Read it again. Make sure you understand it. Read it again. Then read #3.

Head over to April quit group and post that Day 1. You'll be surrounded by people in the same boat as you. And better, by living breathing example of how it can be done.

Welcome to the site.

LOOT - Day 2411
And then you get to hang out with some of the best quitters around, including LOOT

Trying to make it thru day 4. Sure would be easy to run across the street for a can. Ugh!  I can make it. I think. No. I know I will.
Do all the reading on this site that you can.
Get into chat.
Work out a plan to deal with the craves that will come. Here's something I wrote a little while back that may be of help:
index.php?showtopic=5098

If you need a number or anything else, send me a PM ASAP.
day 2 starting, been quit for about 35 hours, gonna keep it going
Hey, Jake, welcome to the fun! This is the best decision that you'll ever make. Go on over to April and post roll, promising not to use nicotine in any form today. Then keep your word and post again tomorrow . . . .

Read the stuff in the Welcome Center; Information is power!!!

Contact me ASAP if you need anything!!
