Foremanscotty, this is the cafe. It is the only place on the board that allows posts from folks that are still on the edge of making the plunge. I realize that you meant no disrespect by posting in March 09 so don't take GMS and I bantering back and forth too seriously.
I saw in the March quit group that you are not worried about posting on 12/13, but dreading posting on 12/15. I'm assuming that's because of the Mondayness of that date. Here's the cool thing about quitting, all you have to do is worry about today. You make a promise each morning that you will not use tobacco (by posting roll call) and then keep that promise. Worry about 12/15 on 12/15 and 1/31 on 1/31. Get it? If you are concerned about things that happen at work that make you "need" a dip, develop a plan for a different way to handle it.
You're not the only one to use the words "scared shitless" when it comes to quitting. We've all felt our addiction would "get us by" in some difficult situations. It will take some time and a little pain (well okay, alot of pain) but you will re-learn that the car will start, the lawn will get mowed, and the garage will not collapse without a dip. When you get to a point where dip no longer has influence on the decisions you make, I promise you that you will look back on the journey you are beginning and realize that it has been worth it.
