Hi all, I have been here before. This is my 3rd time here. I’ve been back to full on dipping every day now for the past several years (since 2018 or so - I think?). Today it just hit me again, I just turned 48, I’ve been doing this pretty much non stop for about 32 years. I have to give it up sometime and the time is now I guess. My health is declining, I feel more and more out of control and this is something I fully have control over. Take my life back one day at a time.

You guess?
what's the point? Why are you here? Really, why are you here? If you can answer that, it won't be a guessing game. Otherwise, might as well court the bitch all the way to the grave.

For whatever reason, when I combined your previous two introductions, it put them out of order.

Regardless, I hope you go back and read through it all. What is it going to take to make this your QUIT and not just another stoppage??

"I have to give it up sometime and the time is now I guess." - This phrase tells me right now you will likely not be successful this time either. You don't have to give it up. Lots of people are slaves until they die from this addiction. Those at KTC are the people that choose freedom over slavery and fight for that freedom over their addiction each and every day. You have to want this; you need to have passion in your quit and not a haphazard attitude toward quitting.

Let's start by having you answer the 3 questions @chaddy08:
1.) What happened?
2.) Why did it happen?
3.) What are you going to do differently this time??

These are for your introspection. Dig deep and be honest with yourself. Stop repeating history and let's make this time your first and only QUIT. Let's go.

Update to the below post......I was corrected yesterday afternoon. I am not in fact at day 6, starting over at day 1. This morning May 16th at 0930 has been 24 hours since I have used ANY form of nicotine, no chew, no nicotine gum, no patch....I have not dipped since May 9th, but no nicotine at all for the last 24 hours.

Hey Chad if you get time go read my thread. I got the exact same lesson my friend! It is goignt to a rough few days if you need me I sent you my number you give me a call man. I will help you anyway I can!

Hello All, I am a new quitter here, I am in the Navy and attended a Tobacco Cessation Class offered by the Navy on 9 May 2013. I had been dipping Kodiak Longcut Wintergreen for a little over 21 years, starting daily from the time I was 18 to present (39). I first had a friend introduce me to straight Beech-Nut long leaf chew when I was either 15 or 16. I remember it like it was yesterday, a friend of mine and me played basketball with this older kid, he had the chew and asked if we wanted to try it. We both did and took a walk around our neighborhood, my friend ended up throwing up and I didn't......I was hooked. I couldn't sleep that night and actually went down the street and took it out of his car that night (it was summer and he left his car window cracked). The longest I have gone yet on any of my quit attempts has been exactly 3 months to the day....on deployment on a submarine (the half way point of the deployment), I started up the day I got home.

So far it has been since the morning of 9 May 2013 when I last dipped, during that class. Now I have been using some nicorette gum that I bought myself, the Navy issues horrible off brand nicorette gum and the Nicoderm CQ patch. I don't want to try the patch and the actual nicorette gum is really pretty good. I also have ordered some Hooch brand non-tobacco, non-nicotine chew, looking forward to trying that out. Main thing is, I don't want to be on the Nicotine gum for any longer than I feel I really need to.

The biggest difference this time is I want to quit, finally, I have told everyone I can think of that I am wanting to quit.....especially my wife, who I have kept it a secret from for a long time, back and forth between telling her I am still dipping and I quit a long time ago, and such.

I will post roll call in my Quit group today, August 2013.....ironically, or not so, my wife's birthday will be 8 August, nearly my 100 day point, when I make it there!

Thanks,
- Chad
WTG ! man. Keep the quit, lose the can.

glad to see your here. Aug 2013 should be a great group.

Good job Chad! If nicotine is something that you truly want to be free of, then enjoy these next few shitty-ass days. They are not fun or easy, but they are a reminder of our addiction  just how much nicotine controls our lives. If these first days teach us anything, it's that we do not wanna go through them again, EVER! Cravings come  cravings go, but knowing our "why" for quitting should make things go a bit easier. I'm glad to be quit with you today

The first 3 or 4 days i broke the quit down by the hour really. I was pretty much a dip every hour and half kind of guy so i had to quell a crave almost hourly at first. One thing that helped me a ton, was getting up early and doing something different. I ran a couple of mornings, i went to the driving range, i got a morning quickie from the wife...all of those things helped change my daily routine. I'm only on day 9 but those things got me through the "suck" part of it all. Congrats....i'm a quitter with you today.
Boy I sure could use a beer right about now!

Way to man up Chad. No nic today. One day at a time is all we ask and expect. If a full 24 is too tough, break it down and quit for the hour if need be, then repeat. All the supprt you could ever imagine is here, use it. Listen to these guys. Be open minded. Drink the kool-aid. And most important, when you feel weak REACH OUT!

Send a PM to someone, ANYONE (look to see who's online)
Send a text (start gathering digits)
Post in the URGENT - Need Help NOW forum and someone will find you

Give your word to remain nic free early and keep your word for the day. It's quite simple. We have been at day 1 and know how shitty it is. Never forget the feeling. Never forget you're an addict and can't handle "just one".
"Dunno about you HP, but LOOT doesn't like getting assfucked, by anyone....and certainly won't chalk it up to 'shit happens'."
