Day 7 and I swear the last few days have been worse than the first few.  I loved to chew as much as I hated it so while the rewards feel good, I feel like I miss an old friend.  I am resolved to see this thru.  It's been 27 years total and probably 10 since I had a decent quit effort.  Ninja dipping sucked so I feel free.  Lack of focus and sleep mixed with the fog stinks.  I'm a loaner and chew probably preyed on that.  I'm noticing the anxiety more the last couple days.  Every angle it can try I suppose.  Just wanted to say thanks to this forum.  As a ninja I can't really talk about it with family so you all make a huge difference for me.

These forums can help anyone quitting be more successful.

For a ninja, they can be a god send. You're in the right place, talking with folks who know what you're going through. Keep it up.

If you haven't yet, check this out. It's remarkably accurate: https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/

Thanks Chewie.  Coincidentally, searching symptoms and finding that page is what brought me to this forum.  What a fortunate stroke of luck.

As a former ninja dipper, I can totally relate. This was the only place I could turn when I quit and I’m still here over 5 years later. Finding KTC and quitting was the best gift. I struggled just as you are and I also kept close to KTC and my new friends on here.
Keep up the fight. All the bullshit you are going through is worth it. It’s a wild ride so buckle up and hang on.

At what point in your quit do you stop blaming the lack of nicotine and just come to the conclusion that you are just an asshole? I am only on day 14, but i think i am starting to see that i am just a natural asshole..Just wondering....

Also, how do you keep a job when you can sit and stare at a computer for 4 hours at a time and do absolutely nothing? when will this fog go away? it comes and goes, but still. i will be jobless at this rate.

I knew I was an asshole before I quit....

You and your body are learning and developing. The nicotine is gone, but the dependence is still there. Stick with it man, it is so worth it!! And it really does get better. You will have ups and downs in this journey, over times the peaks and valleys will be less and less of an extreme.

Quit on!!

You're two weeks in. That's a REALLY rough stretch https://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures/2-week-weakness/

That said, you may be an asshole. I know I am. But get some more legs under your quit before you deal with it. Until then, let your asshole fly and just roll with the punches (that didn't sound right...)

Just about wrote a country song this week.  My son got in a fender bender on Monday, the roof started leaking on Wednesday, the furnace busted Monday and the dog is sick today.  Temptation is strong but I feel dedicated to this like I haven't before.  No close calls yet and life is good!  Hitting 10 days today feels awesome.

This is happening in more and more places across the US.

It's just a matter of time until this is national.

Texas Senators have filed a bill that would raise the tobacco age restriction from 18 to 21 across the state.

Had a dream last night that I put a chew in. Was upset with myself in my dream and woke up feeling depressed and disappointed.  Glad it was just a dream. One day at a time.    Gonna make it today 💪🏻

Hello everyone. New to the forums but am currently 42 days quit after a 10 year habit. It’s definitely not been easy. Anxiety, panic attacks, nausea, headaches, chest pain, etc... Even went to the ER during week 2 due to the chest pains but all checked out ok. My primary dr has prescribed me Wellbutrin for the depression and anxiety but I haven’t started it yet since I hear it can increase anxiety in some.  I was just curious if anyone has had issues with withdrawal symptoms coming back. After the first 3 weeks, things started getting better, but now it’s almost like week 1 all over again. Headaches, slight dizziness, nausea, etc. Only thing I don’t have from week 1 is the chest pain.

How did we let this drug take over our lives? I can see clearly now that the fog is gone!

For me it happened slowly, insidiously and then completely. There were times in the 40+ years I dipped snuff, where the reality of the risk and stupidity would bubble to the surface. After a while though it became easier to just stuff those feelings. As addicts we become very talented at deception. We deceive others as well as ourselves. It becomes complicated. Physical as well as emotional / mental.

Addiction to nicotine in any form is simply evil. The tobacco companies are marketing and selling death. Their job is to make sure this drug takes over our lives. When I started dipping there were two kinds of snuff. Skoal Wintergreen and straight Copenhagen. That is it. Walk into a store now and half the wall behind the counter is dedicated to more flavors, cuts, brands than I can count.

Corporate marketing all meant to hook the next generation so they  too can one day ask "How?"........if they don't die first.
