@Scooter, you've been given every tool you need for success here. You've got the link to your August '21 quitter group. You've gotten sound, experienced advice from veteran and newbie quitters alike. You know what to do.

So, why aren't you doing it? It's been four days since you first posted here, but you haven't made that promise yet. This HAS TO BE ABOUT YOU. Once you make that promise, we're going to hold you to it. Do you make a habit of lying to yourself? Because that's what you're doing if you tell yourself you can't do this. YOU CAN QUIT.

Come on, Scooter. Post your name and day count, even if it's a 1 again. Lots of people stumble out of the gate. Get your ass back up and do it again. Post. Promise. Keep that promise for one day.

Accountability + Brotherhood = Success

Hey Scooter, welcome to KTC!  By quitting you have made one of the best decisions of your life.  In time you will find your only regret will be having not done it sooner.  It is not a picnic, but not as tough as your brain is trying to make it out to be.  For now just focus on quitting one day at a time.  Just make it to the end of a day.  Tomorrow (when it gets here, we don't think about tomorrow here at KTC) repeat the process.

Trust everyone here when we say it will get easier in time.  Much easier.  Fabulous, in fact.  But the only way it gets easy is to stop putting nicotine into your body and letting the body heal, the brain rewire.   You - like me, like all of us here - are a nicotine addict - and there is nothing we can do to undo that.  But you never have to feel this day 1, 2, 3 day crap feeling again as long as you stay true to your quit.

Go over to August 2021 and post your name, day count and promise.  Right now there are four guys going through EXACTLY what you are going through now.

Thank you very much. I'm still trying to figure out this site. Not sure where to post roll and if my replies are public or private.
I'm on day 3, first day working with no dip. Hope it gets easier soon.
Welcome @Scooter

This is an internet forum so the only "private" aspect of this site are messages sent using the "My Messages" tool in the top toolbar. Otherwise, non-members can see this introductions section (hoping what is written here will inspire others to take the leap) and members can see anything else posted around the site.

To post roll, go to August 2021 and follow the instructions. Don't worry about messing it up; we will help you and you will get the hang of it in no time.

Also, our Day 1 on here is the day we last ingested nicotine. Yesterday you posted that you took a 4mg pouch which I assume contained nicotine. Thus, if you haven't ingesting any nicotine today, yesterday would have been your Day 1 so today would be Day 2.

So, you posted publicly yesterday.  I sent you an email because I didn't see you online today and just didn't want you to miss it.

You'll post roll here:  https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=17044.0

You are grouped with other quitters that hit 100 days quit in August of this year.  Does 100 days mean you are cured?  Nope.  But it's a great milestone to celebrate!

Unfortunately, you are on day 2 though.  You said that you used yesterday on day 2.  You requit when you were done (as long as you have not used today) and are on day 2.

Hey man.

Good for you for quitting.  I came here almost 10 years ago with shit still in my system and just looking for some help.  Nobody here is being an asshole to be an asshole.  We're here to quit and the only way to do that is to be straight with each other and ourselves.

Toss the rest of your nicotine.  Just be done.  I know you're going to get some Smokey Mountain but I had that little voice in my head when I quit that said "Just hold onto the can...just in case.".  Toss it.

Next, post roll.  It is your promise to yourself that you'll be quit today.  When you post roll, you also ask us for help to keep you quit.  It's really a win-win.  If you need to post roll a few times a day, fucking do that.  Quit isn't one decision.  It's a decision backed up by actions.  You have to keep deciding to be quit.

The good thing is that it gets easier after these first few days.  Drink water.  Limit your caffeine.  Exercise.  All of these things will help push the poison out of your system.  Get some numbers here.  People are here to help.  When you're strong, help.  It will make your quit even stronger.  The bad news is that it's going to suck right now.  How long will it suck?  Well, it takes 3-7 days to get that poison out of your system.  It takes a while after that for your body to learn that it doesn't need nicotine to be happy.  You have to battle through the memories and get through them.

The best news is that you can do this.  I know because I am.

If you need help, let us know.

@Scooter I encourage you to follow the advice Keith gave you and start posting roll everyday with the August21 quit group.  It helps your quit knowing there are people going through the same withdrawal issues as you.  Make the promise not to use nicotine for the day.  Keep your word.  come back the next day and do it all over again.

It is hard to make that decision to quit, but if you quit one day at a time each day gets a little easier.  Once the nicotine is out of your system, it is all a mind game.  That is why surrounding yourself with other quitters really helps you get through the tough times.
The only time you fail, is if you don't try

45 years old, started snuff at age 30. On day 2 of cold turkey and it is indeed hell. Took 1 4mg snuff pouch a minute ago, not sure if I messed everything up by doing that.

I’m led to believe this is the cause of passing 21 kidney stones in the past 15 years due to high sodium and other stuff you can google.

I normally dip 1 1/2 cans of Red Seal wintergreen long cut per day. Looking for encouragement and out to but some Smokey Mountain now.
@Scooter  KTC is a 100% nicotine/tobacco free site. Sounds like to me you’re back back to day 1. If you want encouragement and the brother/sisterhood that comes with being a member, go over to Aug2021 and start posting roll daily with a group of great quitters. Here is the link to start taking your life back: https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=17044.0. We post roll daily first thing in the morning and give our promise to stay nicotine free for the day, keep our word, and then repeat the process the next day. Focus on quitting just for today. We will deal with tomorrow when it gets here. Another thing, 1 problem + nicotine = 2 problems. Nicotine has never solved a problem. Quitting is hard and does suck for a while, but man is it worth it. Everyday it gets better and better.
