Title: *Flexes Muscle*- Suessi is going to quit
Post by: suessi on October 13, 2020, 02:45:08 PM
I'm going to quit for my daughter.  I started 10/2.  I meant to start 10/1 but I forgot.  I've been using no tobacco, no nicotine moist snuff and it's great.

I'm going to stay nicotine free for my daughter.

I'm 2435 days sober from Alcohol.  I'm 11 days free from Nicotine.

I got this.

Hi suessi,

Welcome to the best decision you could make for yourself.  It is great that you want to quit for your daughter but you really need to quit for yourself first.  Many of the ones that came in saying they were quitting for this person or that person are no longer here or quit.

You can definitely use your affection for your daughter as a motivator, but in the end, you are ultimately the only one that can make you quit.  Next you need to admit to yourself that you are an addict.  We are all addicts here.  There is no cure for addiction and we will all be addicts until the day we die.  You need to come to terms with this.

The price of admission to this forum is posting your daily promise to be nicotine free for the next 24 hours.  We do that in our individual quit groups.  You will be in the January 2021 Pre-HOF Quit Group found HERE (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=16725.540).  Click that link and it will take you right to it.  Learn how to post roll and get to know your fellow quitters.  Those are the guys and gals that will be in the trenches with you.  Exchange phone numbers with them and some of the vets as well (through private message only).  Those numbers will be your lifeline to instant support when you need it (and you will).  They are also the start of your web of accountability and brotherhood.

Quitting is hard and it takes work.  That fake dip you're using is great to help with the craves, but it will only do so much.  Having the support and accountability of all the quitters here will get you so much farther.

Hope to see you on the board posting your promise.

Chris
