@johnnybub You came to the right place, I like you just got tired of dip controlling my daily life.  Up until 11 days ago I dipped for 33 years, it sucks at first be even 11 days later gets a little better.  Just dont let your brain trick you or try to give you a reason to dip.  You don't have to dip....I use seeds and smokey mountain fake chew for the habit part and works great for me.  There is always another way than dipping.  Welcom to the Jan 20 group and if you need anything let me know.

I have logged into my Jan Group and entered roll for day 1. Could someone please explain the promise i need to complete. Thanks in advance.

A little background on me. Im in my Mid 40s and have always been self employed. I had endless time to "enjoy" a dip and most everyone in my industry (general contracting) are good ol boys who chew/dip, hunt, fish, enjoy the outdoors, whatever... It occurred to me one day out of the blue, not sure why it took so long, but I plan my entire day around a darn dip. Get up, dip;get in the truck, dip; phone calls, dip; emails ,dip; meetings onsite, s*&t gotta have dip; getting on a piece of equipment- need a fresh dip, and it goes on and on during the week. Sickening. Weekends no darn different...prep the boat to fish, dip; fishing, dip; cold beer, need a good dip after that one; grilling, dip;....................Im ashamed, truly am. NO MORE, FU

You just made your promise in the January group.  We make a promise everyday to abstain from nicotine, we keep that promise for the day, then come back the next day and do it again.

Great job posting roll. It is going to suck for a while and then it doesn't. If really gets a lot better but it takes time. WUPP (wake up, piss, post) EDD ( every damn day). Then all you have to do is keep your promise for the rest of the day. Make connections with fellow quitters as they will be worth their weight in gold. Those quitters will support you in the tough times and you might also make some real meaningful relationships. I have. Only exchange digits through messages and never on the forum. Focus on quitting today only. You can't control the future. You can do this and we are here to help.

JT here. 20+ years dipping and Im fed up with the endless cycle of the habit. Im an Addict and I need your help. Good luck to all. DAY1!

Welcome Johnny,

First off, I'm glad you realize you are an addict.  The only habit you have is you like to stick things in your mouth and that, like any other habit, can be broken.  The addiction is nicotine and that you will carry with you for the rest of your life.  It is up to you and your choices whether or not you will give in to the addiction.  However, with our help and hard work on your part, you can be nicotine free and live your life.  There is no luck involved with quitting nicotine.  You either quit or you don't, the choice is yours.

First off, you need to go and post roll in your quit group which you can find HERE.

Posting roll is making our promise to remain nicotine free for 24 hours.  We quit one day at a time.  The process is simple:

Wake Up
Piss
Post Your Promise to be nicotine Free
Keep Your Word
Repeat Daily

Wake Up, Piss, Post (WUPP) is what most of us live by.  We post our promise early Every Damn Day (EDD) taking nicotine off the table for the day.

It will be hard, I won't sugar coat it, it is going to really suck until it doesn't suck.  You just have to get through it.  Lean on us, come in here and rant all you want, we can take it, we have been where you are.  Don't take it our on your loved ones, they did not stick that cancer weed in your mouth, you did.

Exchange phone numbers with other quitters in your group and some vets (only use the Personal Messaging feature to exchange digits).  Those phone numbers are your lifeline.  Keep them with you at all times and USE them.  Call or text someone before you go buy that tin if you are having a hard time.  Let us help you.

The phone numbers also serve as the beginning of your web of accountability and brotherhood.  Get to know the people you are fighting with.  It is much harder to break a promise to someone you actually care about, than an internet stranger.

Okay, now go post roll and get to know some quitters.
