Title: What a great community
Post by: Aggies94 on October 27, 2020, 04:42:01 PM
Nicotine has basically ruled my life for 35 years. I was always counting down the time till I could get the next fix.

I had my last dip on 10/25/20 at noon and these first few days have been hell. Not at all what I expected. I have taken comfort in finding this site and forum with the vast support that is available.  Thank you to all for all that you do.

I am determined to rid myself of the nic bitch forever. I have not tried to quit in the last 30+ years but I pray that I have had my last dip.

Good for you Aggie!  We are similar in our time of using nicotine.  You have to go into this thing with the attitude of no matter what, no matter how bad it gets, Never Again For Any Reason.  If you keep repeating that to yourself and quit one day at a time, then eventually you will come to realize that you too can be quit and life will return to normal.  It is the time between day 1 and that day you feel "normal" again that is the tough part.  Some get there quickly, others require more time.  You can do this, I have no doubt!  The question is who are you going to have in your corner helping you?  Build your support team so that you couldnt cave and start using again if you wanted to.  Burn the bridges and get comfortable with being uncomfortable for awhile.  There will come a day that you will realize that quitting is the best decision you have ever made!!

Brian,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. This is the first time in my life that I have said, "Enough, I am quitting today". I'd thought to myself several times about quitting but have never had the determination that I have now. I'm so glad I found this site and the brotherhood it has in the quit.

@Aggies94 (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18638), like you, I never thought about quitting before I quit. I loved that Grizzly too much to quit. That is, until a lump on my gum and the look in my wife's eyes when I told her about that lump broke that slave love affair of 28 years. That was 243 days ago. You can do this. Drink plenty of water, find some new shit to focus on, chew the hell out of some gum, seeds, fake chews, lollipops, whatever. Just no nicotine in any form.

You've got this, brother. You dipped for 30 years. You can stay quit for 24 hours at a time. Read all you can on this site. It's a mountain of information. Ask questions of the folks who have been here a while. We're all here to help each other and hold each other accountable. ODAAT - One Day At A Time. That's how we roll here at KTC. Welcome to the pack.
