I read the information you recommended. Very informative. I tell you, the mind is a funny thing. I am thinking of all kind of crazy crap. I woke up this morning at 3:30, which is becoming normal since I quit. I was thinking what if my dentist missed something during my cancer screening with the ultraviolet light they use. Then I remembered that you said, they know what they are doing.

Chris , Did you or anyone else here go thru similar symptoms. The weird thing about my symptoms are when I wake up they are not there. It’s not until 4 or 5 hours later that they start.

@Tcisneros

Check out this page from the main site: https://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/

It will tell you what to expect when quitting.

I personally never had the symptoms you have.  But others have and hopefully they will come and chime in with their experiences.

Thanks Chris. It’s been tough. Even though the Doctor and Dentist gave me good news, the symptoms are stressful, thinking they missed something.

They are usually pretty good at finding stuff.  Be thankful they did not find anything and know that these symptoms will pass and everyday will get a little bit better.

New to the site, so forgive me if I’m doing this wrong. Hoping someone can relieve me of some of the stress I’m going thru. Quit dipping on Nov 9th, 2019 cold turkey. It seemed like over night I had a itchy feeling at the back of my throat, also a sore throat, tongue feels funny, a tugging sensation to my right ear. None of these symptoms before quitting. Had a physical done 2 days later. Bloodwork is good, ultrasound of jaw, neck and throat are clear. Is this normal, and if so how long does this last?

Welcome @Tcisneros ,

First off, Total Bad Ass going  12 days nicotine free on your own.

The symptoms you are experiencing are normal when quitting dip.  This is part of what we call "The Suck" and usually lasts 2 to 4 weeks depending on the person.  You've already been to the doc, so you know nothing is wrong with you, you just have to endure and stay strong.

Here we quit one day at a time, we post our promise to abstain from nicotine 24 hours at a time.  This is done in monthly quit groups.  Your quit group would be the February 2020 Pre-HOF Quit Group.  You can click that link and it will take you to it.

February is when everyone in that group will reach 100 days quit.  We celebrate the entire month welcoming each member of the month on to the Hall Of Fame (HOF) Train.

This site is built on Accountability and Brotherhood.  Being held accountable to make and keep your promise everyday and holding others accountable to so the same.  The brotherhood comes with the interaction between you and your group mates and veterans of the site.

The process is very simple:

1. Wake Up
2. Piss
3. Post your promise for the day
4. Keep your word
5. Repeat Daily

Posting your promise each day is the price of admission to this forum.  I will see you in February.

Chris

Get off the fake stuff. Abandon everything related to oral fixation and nicotine. After a week, it’ll be ten times easier. Worked for me. But as chewie mentioned, you’re the judge.

First off thank you @chewie. And to @Hunter4life would you say don't chew gum either? Been thinking about the topic lately past few days myself, and admittedly I've always found chewing gum helpful when it comes to concentration.

I still chew gum here and there. (Not even daily.) I just choose not to replace oral fixation.

As long as you're not talking about nicotine gum then I'd say chew away! I'd also put sunflower seeds, beef jerky, etc. in that same camp.

Guys, where the hell is the place to just post stuff?

Also, doesn't the idea of using fake dip just seem completely weak? Don't get me wrong, I'm using it right now but I feel like I need to quickly get rid of it and just deal with it without it.

You're in the right place to just 'post stuff'.

You can always take discussion to your home group as well, and here's hundreds of topics available in the WILDCARD.

As for fake dip - it's a tool. A damn powerful tool in my opinion. I used it daily for a good 220+ days or so into my quit. All day, every day until one day I just didn't need it any more. I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that if not for fake dip I'd not be quit today.

That said, for some, it's 'too close' to the real thing and actually leads them back to the can. You need to be your own judge.

For me, it's another tool in a quitters toolbelt that should be used judiciously.
