Hey Stoneman, glad to see you are posting roll.  Stick with it, stick with this community, get involved, and just trust the process.  You'll probably have a few rough patches ahead - most of us did and do - you get a great streak going and then the funks just pop up out of nowhere.  Be prepared and just know this is a part of the process.  Also trust that over time it gets better and better and better.

Some of my toughest days were right about where you are now.  My 50s sucked out loud.  But just understand it is a temporary funk.  You will get through it.  This is NOT your new normal.  You are not permanently damaged.  It WILL get better and better.  Including the anxiety.

I had horrible anxiety in the early going.  Days I could barely pry myself out of my bed.  It sucks.  It hurts.  It is scary.  So many of us are or were where you are right now.  If you and your doctor think you could use a little help from medication, then do it.  If you don't want to go the med route, there are things that can help.  Cut back on caffeine, get more sleep, start exercising more.  I'm not a doc, but I found ashwagandha helped calm me, as well as Kava Kava teas and other natural products.  Breathing exercises, meditation, and if you are inclined, pray a lot.  And just understand that nicotine  changed your brain - and it takes time for the brain to rewire.

Proud to be quit with you today.  And look forward to seeing you on roll tomorrow.  PM me if you need anything.

I just wanted to say hello, and that its my 47th day without dipping. I've read over quite a few posts, but would love to talk to some one who is still freshly quit. Anyone in here around the Dallas-Ft.Worth area?

Hey @stoneman469 .  Welcome.  Almost 50 days quit is a good run man.  That's about when I, in previous stoppages, would start to waver.  This place has made the difference for me so far...559 days quit.

I'm also no doctor but I've met quite a few people since I started here and read quite a bit of the material on the site and your symptoms sound pretty standard.  Not to minimize them.  They are hell for you and they are still fresh enough in my mind for me to remember.  In fact, I had similar symptoms.  Here's a link to my intro/bio if you're interested: https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=15758.0

As Jeff mentioned below, this is a no nicotine site...including Nic replacements.  We quit together every day, just for the day, and hold each other accountable.  Not easy but simple.  We wake up and promise not to use nicotine for the day.  Keep your promise.  Help others keep their promise.  Wake up and repeat.

If this sounds appealing to you, we'd love to have you aboard.  When was your last day using?  I think 47 days would put you in the March 2021 Hall Of Fame group.  Here's the link: https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=16832.0
Scroll down to the first post after the instructions post and click the "quote" button on the top right.  Post your day count and promise under the "New Bad Ass quitters post your promise below to be nicotine free for today:" heading and that's it.  As Jeff said, the most important thing is that you post.  We can clean the rest up.

Hope this was helpful.  Reach out if you need a hand.  Proud To Be Quit With You Today my friend.

~HAG

Don't worry about posting and making a mistake, someone will fix it.

The only mistake you can make is NOT posting your promise to quit each morning.

Cold turkey is the only way.  Everyone here quit cold turkey.

I am not a doctor, but exercise has helped me with my anxiety.

I am sure a vet on here will be posting to your introduction here shortly.  Take their advice and DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY to quit that Cancer in a Can!

You got this!

@JeffH4257, Thank you! I'm still learning how to properly communicate on forums, so if I mess something up, I apologize. Is there any info on addiction medicine? Like I stated, 47 days cold turkey, but I think I might need something to help me with the anxiety, anger, and emotional roller coaster. I ask because I don't want to see someone who's first reaction is to place me on addictive narcotics.

Welcome @stoneman469
47 days on your own, congrats.

Day 71 here.  This site is full of people way more knowledgeable than me.  Sounds like you will be in the March21 group.

Make a promise here every morning that you will not use nicotine for the next 24 hours.

Read everything you can here on KTC.  A lot of good information.

If you want accountability, you're in the right place.

Reach out if you want to swap digits.

Again, welcome.

-Jeff
