I thought you were going to jump into the deep end today... then poof, you were gone.

It can be intimidating at times but trust me, there are so many people here willing to help it is an amazing thing.

Post your promise on roll and break the chains, no reason to go through this hell alone.

Welcome. As others have mentioned, you need to get on roll. Look at it this way, posting roll should replace taking your first morning dip. You want a dip - post roll instead. Then that acts as a shield for the rest of the day. Sounds silly, but it works.

JRogers:
Welcome to KTC. I’m a fellow member of your Feb 2019 HOF class. So far, the best part of KTC for me has been the daily roll and connecting via PM and text with many longer term members and badass quitters.  I encourage you to connect with as many folks on here as you can.  The daily checkins with your fellow quitters are a great source of strength and motivation.
Proud to quit with you today!

JRogers - Welcome to KTC!  I see you said that you found your group (February 2018 which is sizing up to be a GREAT group!) but I don't see a post??  Posting roll is what it is all about here.  Just go to Feb 18, find that last roll, and post your name, day count and promise every morning.  You will be posting with folks who are at the same stage of their quit as you are.  You will all hit 100 days quit (hall of fame!) in February 2019.  You will have each other to lean on.  It's powerful.  it works.  It doesn't sound like it should, but it does.  So POST!  No need to quit alone anymore, girl.

Like SRains and Skol (two incredible quitters you should get to know, btw) wrote, there are plenty of women that have graced these halls, including yours truly. I was a smoker, but most women here were dippers.  We are all nicotine addicts.

Everything you are going through (emotions, food cravings) is perfectly normal.  Don't worry about a few lbs right now - if a few snickers helps your through the craves, eat 'em!  You'll take the weight off later when your brain and body heals and you feel like a million bucks  (and you will, I promise!)  Emotions, anxiety...all par for the course, but it gets better in time.  Be good to yourself and give this process some time.  And hold on to that memory of that first horrible hell week - you don't ever have to go through that again as long as you stay quit.

Reach out to folks in your group - and the vets - for their support and exchange numbers (please pm me - but don't just limit yourself to the ladies!)  I know it sounds weird and scary, but I have been a member of KTC since August of 2016, have 71 KTC phone numbers in my phone and have never had a bad experience with anyone I have met at KTC.  I don't know how that is even statistically possible, but it is true.

Again, great job, welcome, congratulations - now get your butt on roll!

Welcome!  You've got this.  Make that promise everyday with your roll post and follow through!  We have a lady in October 18, Tashlyn.  She was technically a smoker but nicotine is nicotine.  I will tell her to reach out to you if she can, I know she just started a new job today, but you should PM her!  Profile here: https://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?action=profile;u=143/

Congrats on making a GREAT decision!

KTC is pretty straightforward -

1) Wake up
2) Pee
3) Post roll
4) KEEP YOUR PROMISE
5) Repeat daily

If you do this every single day, you'll successfully quit! It's just that easy, and you already know how hard it is... If your husband isn't on here, encourage him to sign up as well. As someone who has personally stopped on and off way too many times to count over the last 30 some years, the brotherhood and accountability make all the difference in the world and have kept me quit ODAAT for the last 412 days!!!

There are actually a fair number of female quitters on KTC and I highly encourage you to reach out to them. If you (and your husband) are comfortable with it, reach out to as many quitters as you're comfortable with male AND female. I'm going to send you a PM with my contact info, and I'll reach out to a couple of ladies in the Jan '18 group and ask them to reach out to you as well.

There's a ton of great information here, but the single most important reason we're here is to post roll daily. You can find your Feb '19 Quit Group by clicking this link.

Just learning how to navigate this site and did find my quit group. Praise the Lord for this kind of support. I started chewing 17 years ago when I had quit smoking and was having a bad day. My boyfriend, now husband, gave me a chew and I threw up. Naturally, I kept doing it anyway. Ugh. Now I am on day 12 and feel proud of myself for having gone cold turkey (my husband quit 2 months ago, so it was really time). Day 12. The only thing is that by the end of the work day, I am so drained from feeling stress and not having my bff chew to help me through. Trying not to eat everything in sight. Crying a lot. Going to keep fighting the fight though. I never want to go through the first week ever again. Going to keep coming back here for encouragement. I don't know any woman who has chewed but I guess they are out there. Thank you to all who post.

Welcome Jrogers, I'm glad you found us.  This place is gold and there are definitely some badass female quitters here, I'm sure they will find you.

Go ahead and post roll in your quit group, that is your promise that you won't use today.  When you wake up tomorrow, post your promise again and keep your word.. and repeat.

It's that simple, all of us can quit for a day.
