Chewed for 35years.  started with skoal wintergreen, went through Kodiak and ended up with Copenhagen longcut original.  can't say exactly why I decided to quit on May 30, 2019 but so far so good.  My wife has always worried about my chew habit, my kids became old enough to figure out what I was doing and my life was being at least partially run by my habit.  I'm now almost four weeks into my quit and i'm very proud of getting this far.  It actually has been a lot easier than I thought it would be but still tough....if that makes sense.  I have lots of urges, had a few chew dreams, (nightmares), have constipation, but am determined to see this through.  For those just starting....the first few days are hardest.  I started by going down to 2 chews per day for the first 3 days and then cold turkey.  I'm not taking any supplements, medications or Nicorette.....just a lot of determination, sunflower seeds, gum, and mints.  This is a wicked habit and I hope this post helps someone quit.

Making it 4 weeks on your own is pretty bad ass.  Congrats on that little milestone.  Why not head over to September 2019 Quit Group and post roll with them daily and get the support and accountability that this site is founded.  You can find them Here.

I would however like to correct you on one thing.  You keep referring to dip as a habit.  It is NOT a habit, it is a full blown addiction to nicotine.  I am an addict, you are an addict.  The sooner you change your mindset, the better off you will be.  Continuing to only think of it as a habit, like biting your nails or twirling your golden locks, will only land you right back where you started.

Nicotine addiction is actually harder to quit than heroine. 

Having the brotherhood, support and accountability of the other quitters going through the same challenges as you and making that promise every morning to remain nicotine free for the next 24 hours, actually works and works very well.  It is a tried and true method of quitting.  You are to be commended for making it this far on your own, no doubt, but just think about all the added benefits of a support system of those that know exactly what you're going through.

So head on over to September, post your promise and quit with us.

Oh yeah, I was a 3 can a day dipper for over 30 years and am now 525 days nicotine free and I am a 100% Roll poster (Never missed a single day).  There are some here that are in the 1000's that can say the same thing and I will be one of them one day at a time.
