Title: New Life Starts today
Post by: MikeD on December 30, 2023, 05:34:09 PM
After 38 years, I’m done with this shit.  Two failed quit efforts before, but I didn’t really want it.  Instead I was doing it for the wrong reasons and didn’t last.  Now after almost 4 decades of chew and a two can per day habit I’ve had enough.  The smell, the crap stuck in my teeth all the time, and my life revolving around chew - I’ve hit my limit.  This seems like a great site with a lot of help available.  I plan to take full advantage because I simply can’t afford to fail.

Go for it. It will definitely be miserable at first but grit your teeth and soldier through the withdrawal. I been at it for 202 days and although I have had some good days I’m still in the thick of my quit. It’s a very non linear process with peaks and valleys but I hear that in the end it’s worth it.
Dipchit 202 days.

Hey @MikeD (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31226) ! Glad you found us. You've certainly come to the right place. Though head on over to KTC on Discord (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=17299.0) where all the action now takes place. This forum currently exists more in a historical context as a vast library of quit knowledge. But all the new active quit groups are located over on Discord.

Cheers to freedom and taking your life back from the slavery of nicotine!

Welcome @MikeD (https://ktcforum.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31226). Get involved, get to now a few quitters, exchange digits. Quitting with others makes it so much easier.

I love that you are working to hold your fellow quitter accountable!

But recall KTC now exists primarily on the Discord platform. He is over there in the April '24 group and posted a Day 5 this morning.

I know why you have (up to this point) restricted your involvement to just the forum here. But if possible, I think it would do your quit well if you were able to join the very active (and large) KTC community over on Discord.

Ok. Guess I don’t know what discord is. I’ll play it safe and stay here. I was a ninja dipper and I am now a ninja quitter. Would be nice to have more quitters here on the forums though.
Well here we go, another day in anxiety hell.

I know you have been in the fog for quite some time but when you joined, Steve, we tried to get you over on Discord. It can be accessed by computer or via an app if you have a smart phone. These forums used to be just hopping. Though for years forums in general have been dying and KTC was no different. New users were down to almost zero and interactions everywhere were plummeting. We took the leap of faith to a more interactive platform which thankfully has revitalized the KTC community and provided a vibrant group of quitters a place to hold each other accountable while building relationships and friendships.

I was a ninja dipper as well and began as a ninja quitter. I didn't know if telling my wife would rip my marriage/family apart or not but I couldn't carry the lies of my addiction to contaminate my quit or relationships. While hurt, my wife was understanding and I'm thankful I don't continue to carry around lies associated with this horrible addiction.
