Welcome aboard USMCray (and thank you for your service).

Here's a video that forum member Roamcountry put together a while back on how to post roll on the iPhone: http://blog.killthecan.org/2012/08/how- ... an-iphone/

As for "joining" a quit group... it simply a matter of finding yours, introducing yourself and posting roll (giving your word). Quit groups are based on the day you quit. If you quit between 11/22/2013 - 12/22/2013 then you're part of the March 2014 group

How bout this to keep in your head you work on railroad tracks and if you take that shit while working on tracks or associate with those who do work while impaired the consequences that may occur. I understand the trigger thing but lets say a train derailed and say your wife and baby were at the crossing would that be acceptable? I know that this sounds harsh but wtf working impaired has consequences. What if they piss test you and you don't have a script to cover why that shit is in your piss...is being unemployed really worth popping pills. How bout a look in the mirror and ask yourself do I want this kinda shit to keep happening or do I want it to end do I want to make a change. I know I am on your ass but hell you have responsibilities to the public and to your family.
Complacency sucks, one moment of it is the difference between being a user and a quitter....OIB

I am having a hard day today, it's day 18 of my quit nicotine and something I've never put on here is that I have been a recreational pill popper for the past 12 or so years.  Pain killers are my biggest trigger and if I where to take even one, I know I would go buy a can of chew. Anyways I have stopped taking the pain pills on the same day of my quit. So I'm 18 days sober on those as well. My problem today is this fuckin jerkoff at work is throwing out all these names of different shit he has and I was moments away from asking for a few.  My addict self came back an I was building up conversation to where it would be easy to ask for some.  I literally cut the conversation short and came out to my truck to get this out there.  I have to work with this guy today and tomorrow then I switch crews.  I am seriously thinking about calling my boss and telling him that I have a family emergency and taking off these 2 days because I honestly don't know if I am strong enough to resist these urges all day long an again tomorrow yet. Does anyone have other advice. Maybe from someone who knows what I'm talking about.  After writing this I feel better already. So thanks ktc
I don't have any experience in pain pills, brother, so I can only offer sympathy.

I would offer a suggestion that you think about some professional help with your other 'habits', and applaud you for your resolve.

I will also tell you something I've said over and over again - You will NEVER regret Quitting, and you will ALWAYS regret caving.

Hang tough. You're winning.
I agree with Nolaq on this one. At the same time I want to point out we all have addictive minds here and its easy to find something else to "substitute" for quitting the nic. My substitutes was food and lots of it. Under the non dipping discussion thread you will find "Getting your Act Together" We have support threads for drug and alcohol abuse. Nothing professional but you can get a sense of belonging to a group of others going through the same thing. PM me if you need anything or would like a number.
Wintergreen I understand your pain. I'd like to share a paragraph from my 12 step addiction recovery course which is from AA.
Quote
As you do your inventory, look beyond your past behaviors and examine the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that led to your behavior. Your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are actually the roots of your addictive behaviors. Unless you examine all your tendencies toward fear, pride, resentment, anger, self-will, and self-pity, your abstinence will be shaky at best. You will continue with your original addiction or switch to another one. Your addiction is a symptom of other “causes and conditions” (Alcoholics Anonymous [2001], 64). (Step 4: Truth)
I spent years bouncing from one addiction to another and after quitting nicotine I caught myself trying to fill the void. Self evaluation to discover why we need addictions was a huge breakthrough for me. It doesn't matter what your weakness is you can still overcome it one day at a time. Your honesty proves you truly are ready to abandon the past. PM me if I can help.
Thanks guys and thanks WT. You are right. One day at a time and I am quit today. Thanks for advice fellas

Hey guys, hit 1 year quit today and was going to check in with my quit group but couldn't find it. I'm still quit and it keeps getting a little easier every day. Fiance left me this year and I still managed to stay quit, even though there were some rough moments when I thought about buying a can. Just wanted to pop in and let you guys know that I'm still alive and quit.

Going to parties and not drinking is a choice just like going out and not dipping. Except, if you aren't an alcoholic, you can have one or two beers.

I went through a phase (aka trying to sleep with a girl) where I didn't drink for 2 months but went out every weekend. It seems weird, but just carry a water bottle and people won't bother you.

NEW TOPIC:

Can someone point me to some type of explanation as to why 7 forum goers signed a letter that was sent with my wristband?

I read something awhile back that said there was a backstory to this joint. I want to know what I signed up for.

Is.... is this a cult?
The 7 signatures on your letter are the signatures of the 7 admins of the site: index.php?act=StatsCODE=leaders

Those admins have changed throughout the years, but the number always stays at 7. This is the way that we've set up the leadership of the forum. As the forums have grown (and continue to grow) we expand the number of moderators and chat mods we have as well to help with the community.

Is this a cult? Nah... but you'll often hear people talk about "drinking the KTC Kool Aid". This is in reference to our particular brand of quit. Its the best thing going. Stick around and find out.

Welcome aboard!

chewie
I guess you could consider KTC a cult by the following definition in free dictionary.com.
Quote
5. intense interest in and devotion to a person, idea, or activity

We are intensely interested in quitting nicotine and are obsessed with supporting each other through support, brotherhood and accountability. If you consider that a cult, I'm proud to be associated with it and count myself as a cult follower.

As far as The 7, they may be a little weird but over the past 20 months I've found their support in my quitting nicotine is phenomenal to get from total strangers.

BTW this koolaid won't kill you, it will save your life!!
