Its sad because there are so many people that are clueless about quitting and could use this as a source to quit smoking.
The quacks who researched this should be sued out of existance
It really is sad. In fact, it's exactly what someone thinking about quitting needs to justify to himself that dipping is just fine. Funny there's no mention ofthe bloody gums, shriveled lips, or jaws that have been removed. Sure UST gives them a grant with "no strings", but his job as a researcher depends on it. Give me a break. The more I read that site (and his "blog") the more pissed I get. Two things: 1) I will not die early from self induces cancer, and 2) I WILL NOT live my life as nicotine's bitch. I call my own shots, not some chemical in my bloodstream.
10. Why havenÂ’t more health groups and organizations endorsed this strategy?

"The problem is that (total nicotine) abstinence is unachievable for millions of smokers."

Except that it is achievable by 100% of the people who follow our simple 3 step program.

1. Promise not to use today by posting roll.
2. Keep your promise.
3. Repeat tomorrow.
And it really is that simple Yota.

On the nicotine gum, my mother died of emphysema in '96. When they came to take the body, they took 8 pieces of that shit out of her mouth. She had stopped smoking for 7 years and used gum instead. A week before she died, she said she wanted a pack of cigs. because she was gonna go anyway. The addiction continued to torture her while she died over a long period of time because she kept feeding it. (Years)

As for nicotine not effecting your physical condition, (other than smoke) I had a very difficult time getting off it and my body was not happy with me for a while after. (Anybody else have this problem?) It took a little time, (month(s)) but I eventually began to feel healthier and some problems with my CV system cleared up. Nicotine won't hurt you? Bullshit.
My blood pressure was through the roof for years while dipping. I got on meds and it helped, but my BP did not go to 120/80 until a longtime after I quit!
Mine didn't drop until around day 170...but so thankful now....not bad considering how long I dipped.
Don't be a pussy....just for TODAY.
