It's been over 3 days now since I quit. The fog mostly went away today. I've been hitting the gym, eating alot and pounding water, lol. I don't plan on ever going back to dip. The last time I "quit" was in 2010. But I only quit because I was forced to during marine corps boot camp. I know this is a nicotine free thing, but just a general question.. would using a nicotine gum make the fog come back? My roommate has some of the gum he offered me and I said no.. but thinking about having nicotine without the dip seems kind of nice lol. Would it fuck everything up?
Yes it would. Don't exchange one form of nicotine for another. You are addicted to nicotine (as am I and everyone else here) and to break that addiction you must quit using it, cold turkey. Using nicotine gum instead of dip is like an alcoholic using beer to get off liquor. Don't do it.
Quit date: September 25, 2016
HOF date: January 2, 2017
Comma date: June 21, 2019

Become as addicted to your quit as you were to nic.

I wish I was a little jumpy!! My nerves are on level 100! I can't remember shit. And I have been hungry all day. This is my day 2. Day 3 better be better or I may have to leave my CCW at home.
I went to se my doctor today. He dead! Some hot little 24-25 year old perky blonde has taken his place. She prescribed something for me I don't know what. Albuterol comes to mind but that's not it . She said it would take the edge off. I told her I could quit if I started drinking again. She said I don't need alcohol to quit. I told her I don't need running shoes to run but it fucking helps.

This is the best time to quit. I'll quit with you! there's always going to be a reason not to. I am here with you bud.
Thanks man. I hope my office is understanding. I can't retain anything I read. I have zero motivation to do anything. I've been Drinking a lot of water.
I dipped for last 12 years. Last 6 was about a can a day of Copenhagen long cut. Before that was various skoal. It's not really the dip that I miss which is strange. My mouth is looking for something to do but the depression and zero work drive are killing me. I don't feel like doing anything. I started working out 2 weeks ago and was getting 2 a days in but now I don't feel like it at all. Could it be depression from break up and not the dip or is this normal? I'm not a sensitive person and pride my self on not showing emotion but this sucks.
Hey, I am only in day 2 at this and am certainly not a "normal" person so it's hard for me to tell you whats normal or not. I would assume everything you are feeling is as it should be. From what I have read on various posts around this forum, you want to workout as much as you can in addition to drinking lots of water, as sweating and exercise will help force the NIC out of your body faster. I would try to get into the gym even for a little bit, as least its something that might take your mind off dipping, and allow you to use some of your energy up. I was a big cope long cut original guy.

you can do it, I think when you get off work you should do something thats out of your routine. Do something that you don't relate to dipping.

Also, I bought sunflower seeds and that seems to be helping the oral fixation thing you are mentioning.

I'm quit with you today bud.

6:02 in the morning and I made my decision last night at 11 p.m. I've been a slave to Copenhagen for almost 30 years. I'm scared of failing - I gotta do this! I "was" one of those people who brushed his teeth in the shower and had a dip in 5 minutes later. This realization that I need to quit has been gnawing st me for about a year - I'm 46 and have felt bulletproof - not anymore - my life is full of rituals that include dipping - I've visited the site once before; decided to look it up last night, and this time I made the decision. I have no idea how this is gonna go - I just know it's time. I'm scared. Help.
Quitting with you guys. I was the guy who woke up at 5am, brushed my teeth, had a swallow of coffee and threw in a dip heading into the shower! Don't be scared just take today, and win today, then we will deal with tomorrow. I'm only on day 2 and it sucks, but it's worth it for so many reasons. CurryB, stay strong bub, you can do it. Let's be bad ass quitters today!

Going on day 2 of quitting and after reading everything it's going to be rough. Already going through extreme depression after loosing the woman I was proposing too. To make things worse I take adderol at work to help focus but it makes me crave dip so I want to get off that. So now I have to deal with the Fog, and im getting hit with more lack of concentration from not taking medicine. Add the loss of my love and this is gut wrentching. I can't focus at work or sleep. Maybe this isn't best time to quit?

Need help fellas! Been quite for over a month. Dipped for about 25+ yrs. quite because I had a strange feeling from my chin to the bottom of my throat. Went to an oral surgeon an a ear, nose an throat dr. Had visual by both dr's an CT an scope scan of my throat. No signs of anything! But I have this weird/tinder feeling! I am stressed out that I didn't get the right test done or wasn't able to access the problem properly to my dr.! Can someone help me that has dipped that long an quite??? Need y'all support please
superdave, all kinds of weird throat / mouth sensations happen when we quit. Most are part of healing. It may be the change in ph from not having the shit in your mouth, to improved blood flow (nicotine constricts blood vessels). Best bet is to head to the March 2017 quit group and share experience with a group of quitters who are where you are in their quits.

btw I dipped for 35 years, now quit for 600 days. still get odd sensations now  then, but life is much better and my mouth / throat are much healthier than before.
Yep... relax. My jaw damn near felt like it was going to crawl off my face.

You did what you needed to do... you quit and you got checked. Now it's time to stay quit and enjoy the freedom that comes with it.

Head over to the April 2017 quit group... lots of new quitters there. Its easier to do with help.
