Title: Want to Quit
Post by: anthony18_7 on August 25, 2014, 04:31:00 PM
Hello everyone. I am an avid Kodiak wintergreen fan and I am in the process of waning myself down from a tin per day to just 3 dips per day and eventually NO dips per day. The problem is I want to quit in the worst way but I just love Kodiak so much. Today I ordered some Hooch in an effort to get off the real stuff which I hope works. Any advice you successful quitters could give me would be great! Thank you!

My advice:

1) Be a man and dump the contents of whatever tins you have into the toilet and then flush.

2) Post roll.

We'll work on the rest of the details after you've actually quit.

My advice may sound a bit harsh, but here goes...

1) Admit you are a nicotine addict
2) Realize that being a nicotine addict means you will always be a nicotine addict, whether you are using it or not
3) Quit using nicotine today, before it kills you dead
4) Post roll
5) Suffer like hell the first few days and don't forget what it feels like
6) Continue to quit every remaining day of your life

What does post roll mean? I am brand new to this site and don't fully understand the lingo yet.

You'll have to dig a lot deeper than that if you want to quit and want to get the full support of other quitters. To say you love Kodiak so much is like saying you love your girlfriend who is slowing killing you by spiking your koolaid with anti-freeze. Dump the bitch and never take her back.

Been a while since I've read and responded to intros -- you got me with your over romanticized looking for easy answers post. "Avid Kodiak fan. Enjoys long walks on the beach strolling hand in hand with the nic bitch. Damn she's so hot, I love her so, but I think she may have herpes and constantly cheats on me -- oh and sometimes she likes to pound me with a strapon -- but she's just so hot I don't want to leave. I'm just such an avid fan of her manipulating lies."

The secret to quitting -- making a conscious decision not to but that shit in your mouth. I've been quit for a while now, but to my knowledge Skoal ain't making a Harry Potter flavor. That shit is not going to magically appear in your mouth. Post your word. Keep your word. Repeat. Damn hard, but we are all proof it can be done.

I hear ya! I was an "avid kodiak fan" for 25 years. I tried to quit everyday for 25 years bud. Don't be a stupid fuckface like me.

$45,000 gone High blood pressure. Lying to my family. Lying to my friends. Midnight trips to "fill the car up with gas. Driving around aimlessly to get my fix in private.

Guess what the worst part was? I was owned by that damn bear and the nicotine. Owned. And reading your intro, you are owned too. The best part about using nicotine..? The only plus to using it... Is that it takes away the withdrawal symptoms of not using nicotine. That's it. You use a powerful neurotoxin to dull the effects of not using a powerful neurotoxin. Read that part about not being a fuckface again...

So, you are at a crossroad. You can take the road that is straight, well paved, and lined with whores bearing bottles of bourbon where you can drive really fast... Until that corvette flies over a cliff unexpectedly. Or you can veer to the road on the left that is bumpy and rocky, with tall weeds and a slow old truck with no a/c. But there is a small wooden sign that says "paradise ahead." We can help you navigate the bumps and rocks. And the road gets better pretty quick, and there are rainbows and unicorns ahead, but you have to be willing to call a whore a whore and put the bourbon down.

This will be a journey that you will never regret. Because no one... No one... Regrets quitting. Man up bud. Join us. Don't be a fuckface.

Tell me Anthony, what is it that you LOVE about Kodiak. Please, write it down. And if it is so damn great, why quit? The truth is.................. well you already know the truth. Worktowin helped you out with that already. The question really becomes then, what are you gonna do?

You can't post roll unless you are quit. This website is for quitters. Make the decision and join us. It's pretty simple.

Tony, you sound scared to quit. I was a big chicken shit too, I wore a patch for 30 days to ween off the nic, even though the vets on this site told me to man up. Only thing I accomplished was going through withdrawals twice, how's that for not listening to the vets on this site. We have all been there Anthony, and it sucks until it doesn't. Do you want to quit or not?

Thumble's Fun Facts

1. I spent over $30,000 on Skoal products
2. I once saw my 2 year old son drink a full swig of my spit bottle
3. I would buy 20-30 cans at a time from Sam's, and put it on a Credit Card at 20% interest
4. I lost the trust of my wife by "quitting" 3 times a year. It still isn't 100% after 145 days, she thinks I'll cave.
5. I have made my youngest son cry multiple times by dipping, and ignoring him

Make the right decision.

How's the love affair coming along? I see that you logged in this morning. Several of us spilled our guts in an effort to help you. We will climb mountains to help you, but you gotta help yourself first.

Step one is easy. Make the decision to give your word. And do it. If your word is worth a damn you can do this. You can succeed.

2 men have told you that they spent a combined 75,000 on this shit in their lives. That is after tax money bud. Think about that.

18.7, I think you woke up yesterday and said "I would like to quit using chew today", found us, made an account, felt better about yourself, and poisoned yourself for the rest of the day, because you sure as shit didn't log back on here. This isn't a joke, it's your life.

Here's some support for you:

topic/1008847/1/ (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1008847/1/)

Read that and tell me how great tobacco is, and then use words like 'love' when talking about it.

You need to decide whether you want to quit abusing nicotine or if you want to just stop for awhile. There's a difference.

Make sure you flush every bit of tobacco down the toilet. Post roll and be a man of your word that you will not use nicotine in any form for that day.

Wake up. Piss. Post roll. Be a man of your word.

In the next few days you will be going through withdrawal symptoms
http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/wha ... t-dipping/ (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/)

Drink tons of water, so much so that you should have to piss every time you pass a bathroom. Flush that poison out of your system.

No one is going to wish you luck because luck has nothing to do with being quit. It's a decision and only you can make it.

Quit on.

Support is a relative term; dictated purely by present circumstances and company.

But, we're not here to dissect the meaning of words. We're here to quit. All day long. I'm glad you got your box of hooch and I'm glad it's been helping you along. 1 day nic-free is an excellent start.

You'll find that the support you're after will be much more to your liking AFTER you post roll in the December Hall of Fame quit group. Posting roll is the price of admission in this joint, and costs you nothing more than making a very simple promise to yourself and the rest of your quit brothers that you will not use nicotine at all today.

Your move.

Congratulations on Day 1!

By the way, I'm a straight up asshole. Never pretended to be otherwise. But today I'm one happy asshole because I've been checking everyday to see where you were... and your account was as quiet as an empty shoebox... until this morning! You should be damn proud to post your word on your intro and in December.

You've had a lot of suggestions to post roll. I haven't missed a day yet. It sounds corny as hell, but it gets in your head... you give your word to yourself and a bunch of other bad asses going through the same misery as you... and you will not break your word. Heed the advice you've received and get your name on roll first thing each day. If you are a man of your word, you can do this. If you aren't... well then who is really the asshole here?

You'll never be sorry you quit. Ever. If I can help - let me know. In the meantime, feel free to call us whatever words you want. Because as long as you are quit like fuck, I'll support you.

I have made it through the weekend just fine. The hardest part was when I had some adult beverages and was with others that were dipping nonstop but I was able to make it through. When they asked if I wanted some I simply said "NO". I am proud to say that I have made it 5 days.

Also, I have no idea how to post roll, I don't even know what it means. All I know is I have created a contract with myself and I am not going to break it. I have taken my last dip of chew, period.

Gratz on day 5 solo, but why are you here if you aren't going to read up on how to post roll? I'm confused? Do you want our support? Then you need to post roll. If you want a place to post every other day, try a different site. Love to give you support, but we need a daily promise from you. It's that easy.

Posting roll is your promise to yourself and this community Tony. It is what this site is about. Brotherhood (the brothers/sisters in your group and others) + accountability (posting roll) = success. Many of us tried to quit for many years... Even decades... Before we stumbled across this formula. I hope you join us. Because the accountability, once you buy into it, will save your life.

Congratulations on achieving a start to freedom!

Good job, man. I still wonder why it took you so long, but we all move at our own pace I guess. It feels good to make a promise to yourself and everyone else at the beginning of the day and to have kept that promise clear through the end of the day. Simple, yet effective.

Keep posting roll first thing and start reaching out to your December quit brothers (and other vets) for digits. PM me and I'd be happy to give you mine.

Thank you, I still don't fully understand why posting roll is so important. I understand the accountability factor, however, I think accountability to yourself is more important than anything else. I haven't had a dip in 6 days and I think about it everyday but I simply tell myself NO. I am accountable to myself. That being said, I will continue to post roll because that is what this site is all about and it will keep all of you from chewing my ass. (no pun intended) But the most important thing to me is and will continue to be that I am a FORMER dipper. I just love the way that sounds.

How many times did you try stopping before? It only takes one successful permanent stoppage to be quit. This site has a proven process and a much greater success rate than anything else out there. It's pretty simple. If you want to be quit bad enough, dive in, read the welcome center items, follow the process and if you're a man of your word, post your daily promise early not to use that day.

Here's a good example for you. Go to your Dec month and read last night's posts regarding Scuba Steve who posted a day 1 last night after 1000 plus days of being quit. Read his words on how and why.

There is a motto around here - "Take what you need, and leave the rest", so if posting roll daily and leaving works for you then more power to you. I dove in head first and read as much as I could, but that's just me.

Whatever blows your hair back, slick.

The point of posting role and getting to know guys in your group is so that if a day comes where you get that itch for a pinch you think not only about yourself, but people fighting the same battle before you just say "fuck it".

It's easy to let yourself down, I did it for 15 years. But if you really want to quit, and you add some group accountability, it adds another layer.

Makes me wonder if you have it all figured out, how the hell you ended up here in the first place.

Do yourself a favor and read some other stuff on here. I'm sure you can find some time. If you had enough time to cram your face full of shit, you can surely find some time to read some stuff that could save your life.

I also want to make mention that today is 9/11. A day that we will not soon forget and a day that I can vividly remember where I was and what I was doing. It is a day that I think about often and a day whose images are still clear as can be. It is a day that instantly changed my outlook and made me even more proud to be an American. United We Stand!

Attitude, resolve and determination will fuel that quit every damn day
