Title: Quitting for good
Post by: VaYooper on July 07, 2014, 02:17:00 PM
Hello All...

Been dipping for 23 years every brand of smokeless tobacco throughout the years. Recently been having dizziness/nausea and a constant upset stomach. I've been way too busy with the family the past couple days to even think about dipping, and my dizziness/nausea and stomach issues have subsided since then. This was the kick in the ass that I needed to change my habits. And so... here I am...Day #3 into a better life, putting myself out here finally admitting that I had an additction. The fight is on!!

First day at work since I stopped and it is proving to be one helluva mind game right now since this is time of day I usually dip the most. Searched online for suggestions on how to ease the transition and ran into this site. Read alot of people stories which helped motivate me more and helped pass a couple hours keeping my mind off the lip shit. Joined up with the HOF October 2014 Roll Call for the support I may require.

Good job posting roll VaYooper! Day 3 seems to be one of the roughest for a lot of us, mine was one of the worst days of my life. But you know what? It's over halfway done ( I can't tell if you are from Virginia, the U.P. of the finest state in the union, or Parts Unknown) depending on location. I did my Day 3 minutes by minute, and 92 days later I am so glad I had the support offered here to get me through. I have PM'ed you my digits, use them if you need them to get you through.

You're head may be in the clouds but you figured out how to post roll on this site, which is a huge win and already gives you a leg up on other new quitters. This spell you are in is what we call the "fog" Everyone went through it, and everyone came out of it. It's your body's way of dealing without nicotine., It shouldn't last longer than a couple of weeks. During my first week I bought as many things as I could put in my mouth other than dip (gum, hard candy, fake dip, seeds, etc) Whatever it took I kept my mouth busy with other things. I also did 25 push ups every time I had a crave...I realize that may not be appropriate at all work sites, but by the time I was doen with the push ups the crave usually passed, and lastly I drank a ton of water. Grind hard brutha....you'll get through this.

Beware of the day on which nicotine whispers in your brain, that the dizziness is gone, you are not nauseous any more....Just a little dip won't hurt....That is when you will have to fight the craves and reach out to people for help and support...Get involved in your quit group. Read other people's struggles and victories...reach out when you need to.

Good stuff right here bro.
Keep your name on roll each day... Make that promise... And keep doing what you've been doing.
It adds up quicker than you think and gets better faster than you realize. Welcome in...

Welcome! Stay quit. It's not going to be easy. But, when you promise everyone in your group you will quit for a day, just don't break your promise. Don't miss roll!

Glad you made here VaYooper.
Study what works...it's all here for you to read.
Letting go of nicotine and embracing real living is a matter of life and death.
You're not here by accident. You've made the decision for Today. Tomorrow you can do it all over again.
40,000 quitters cannot be wrong.
Welcome to the best of your life...it gets much better and easier, I promise.
Cheers

My first post was my day 12 - it was as tough as day 3. It's better now and has been for a long time. If you want another number to put in that phone give me a pm and this troll will shoot you his cell. Some of my best times were spent in da u.p., I picked up a scar above my eye one night in Houghton during winter carnival.
