Title: New Quitter
Post by: Magnum on June 19, 2011, 02:33:00 AM
I found this site a long time ago, but honestly didn't want to quit then. Out of the blue a few days ago I decided it was time to quit and started looking for reviews on the fake stuff. (Hey, I know me- without something shoved in my lip I'm not man enough to make it.) I ended up with a link back here so I joined and followed on twitter. Remembering how people here treated those that hadn't yet quit I decided I'd just keep my comments to myself until I got to day 1. Well, the Hooch showed up yesterday, the stash went into the toilet, and the journey began. Today will be the first day I haven't had a dip since I graduated from boot camp in 1995. Before that we'd be all the way back to 1991. Hard to believe I spent 20 years trying to kill myself, but I did. No more though.

I am an asshole by nature, and I have no reason to believe this isn't going to make this worse. I have a somewhat stressful job, and this won't make it easier. I will probably be on here being an ass from time to time, but then that's exactly what I read you all saying to do. Hope you don't get tired of me too quickly.

welome magnum! I saw you posted roll early, that's great. I too chewed for 20 years and to be honest the stress and anxiety was and is hard. My advice is to drink a lot of water, spend a lot of time on this site and excercise. And do know that is does get easier, just not as fast as we'd all like. I'm so thankful I found this site 9 months ago, I feel great. congrats on a great decision.

Welcome to the club, Magnum.

Believe me, you may have met your match with guys who can be assholes on this site. LOL. You will have days when you will want to execute every last one of us, but we'll be unrelenting assholes to you to solidify your quit. It will suck big time in the beginning but will get easier as time passes.

Let me know if you need anything.

I also am in your quit group, the one thing I used which was very effective and is cheap if you buy it in bulk is beef jerky, I woul buy alot of that and literally grind it up into little pieces and use that like chew, although salty it compensates for the beginning because chewing actually gives users an attraction to salty foods, so it helps.

The first 5 days were Hell for me and then got much easier. Just keep it up and post roll. Whenever I have problems I go on chat or call someone, people are free to give their number out to those in need. Just stay strong, remember everyone is quitting with you and going through something similar with their quit!
