Hello.
My name is Jason and I am making my second attempt at quitting chew. I have chewed for over 20 years at 1.5 cans per day. I quit about three years ago for 18 months, then started back up again.
My wife's dad is in his last week of throat cancer treatment at the Mayo in Minnesota. I quit chewing today and I will go pick him up on Friday and tell him I am done for good.
I appreciate this forum and will be seeking advice to make it stick this time.
Thank you.

Jason, you posted roll, great job. (I kinda fixed it for ya, but you will get it figured out).
Now post roll every morning. Pick a few guys or gals in your group and exchange some numbers. Get involved with your group if you can.

Motivation Theory:
All of us are motivated to act by
1: Fear - "I don't want to get cancer"
2: Reward - "I will save money or get the girl"
3: Image - "I'm tired of people being disgusted with my dipping"
4: Duty - "I don't want my kids to start"
All are great motivations but what changed in me and my theory is 80% of us will never graduate to a higher motivation.
20% quit for good and don't touch nicotine ever again when they are motivated to quit by Value
I am quit today because I Value my freedom, I value my record, I value my relationships, I value my word, I value handling my shit without saying I need to hump a can to relieve stress, I need a can to enjoy golfing, watching a game. I value removing the poison so I can see nicotine for what it is.
Welcome: Trust all of us and follow the plan. Don't question or alter the plan, just do it with exactness. Your motivation can get to value but for now, just follow the plan.
Nicotine is a killer, Nicotine is lie, Nicotine blinds you and limits who you are and what you can accomplish. Anyone who follows the vets and this plan...will not fail. Its when you think you don't need to follow or alter the plan is when nicotine will seduce you back.
Post roll every day you wake, Keep your promise for the day. Worry about today and don't think about being quit tomorrow or forever. Just get through today. Then love your victory as go to bed. If you wake and tomorrow becomes today...repeat.
Welcome to crazyville. The greatest place to learn about your addiction and recover from the can of lies.

MTHOMAS said is genius. Your attitude will determine your success. If you "try" or "give it a shot" you probably won't make it. Too much milktoast, not enough substance. You gotta get mad as a rabid dog and steal your effing freedom back.
Nobody gets out for the asking. Nobody can do this for you. And you will NEVER be cured of your addiction. But you can control it. And we're here 24 hours a day to give you unlimited support. What do we charge? Nothing. All we ask is that you give us your word each day...and keep it.
YOU CAN DO THIS. You just don't believe it yet. Start reading. Look at all the folks that jumped into the ring with the Nic Bitch and are winning everyday, one day at a time. YOU GOT THIS, BROTHER!!!

This married father of two boys first started dipping at the tender age of 14. He has loved the Denver Broncos since 1984. He spends his days running youth and adult sports programs there in Kansas City. He drives a Dodge ram, and loves playing golf and watching NASCAR
The quitter he finds most inspiring on KTC is TxTornadoinOK, and he is another FFFoQ who credits Dave1903 with checking in on him early when he missed roll call. He is bringing with some of his special Jesse James bourbon to share with all you Hall of Famers on the train.. He says he is not going to be doing anything special for his 100 days quit, but I disagree. Being on the HoF train is very special. Welcome aboard and Congrats Jbruce19, you have earned it!!
-
Jason, here you are man. Congrats. Stay on the train with us and don't let your guard down.
