Quitting Grizzly tomorrow morning. I have had this nicotine addiction since I was 12. Started dipping while on the wrestling team… Fast forward 26 years still addicted. Switched off, between smoking and dipping. Been addicted, sadly for 24 years.! Feel more addicted then ever. Quit for 2 yrs before my dad got sick (cleanly). Was smoking then – damn Grizzly - I know you are full of shit! I’m tough, one day at a time…………….
Going to chew N-gum for a week freely until I figure this out. I must quit, and will break this addiction!
Appreciate, any support I can get. Will check in, that is what made me successful last time.

Spitting to lose a pound to make weight for my wrestling match was what started my addiction. I can relate in more ways if we sat down and talked but I am hung up on something.

Justme, your making this quit way more difficult than it needs to be. I was almost in tears myself (NOT!) reading this intro. The nicotine has you thinking it's impossible to quit. I know how you feel, I once was there.
I'm going to start with your screen name. Justme tells me that you think your the only one in this world having a rough time quitting. NOT TRUE! Thousands on this sight have quit and been successful. Guess what! Nicotine had all of us fooled also, thought it was impossible. Nicotine lies my friend. It tells you that you can't have quality of life, it tells you that you need nicotine gum and it tells you to start tomorrow instead of today.

I came here and got in chat around Jan 7 of 2011. Talked to FloridaLuke, in fact. I told him that I had to use the nic gum and wean myself off. My thinking was that I was different from all of you. I was a hot shot at work and couldn't quit cold turkey because I couldn't afford the withdrawal symptoms all at once.
He saw through my bullsheet and gave it his best effort to show me how I was letting the addict do my talking. I wasn't convinced.
After stewing over our conversation all week, and realizing that I was going through withdrawals every day, instead of just for three or four days until the nic was out of my system, I came back here and started reading all I could. I also started having thoughts that since I haven't yet kicked nicotine, I might as well go "enjoy" dip. Because I had been reading here, the absolute absurdity of that thought hit me like a ton of bricks and I realized that tomorrow never comes for an addict. I joined and haven't missed a day posting since.
I say all of the above to say that justme can come here and post about his NRT plans all he wants, as far as I am concerned. It just gives us the opportunity to smack him in the face with a shovel of truth. I needed it. Ol' justme will either "get it," or he won't. But as long as he's here, he'll damn sure hear the truth about nicotine addiction and that you can't quit while still using the drug you're addicted to. Up to justme to make the decision to quit for himself.

Whether nicotine dependency was established and/or maintained by being chewed, smoked, drank, snuffed, sprayed, swallowed, sucked, licked or patched, in the end there is only one way out - no nicotine today.
