Title: New here
Post by: FishinDipShit on October 21, 2013, 04:32:00 PM
Hey yall my name is kyle,20yrs old from Gilroy, CA my wife introduced me to this site last night and it makes me happy that im not alone in feeling what im feeling and doing what im doing. I cant say ive quit yet but i threw out my last wad and remaining two rolls a little bit ago. i want to quit and i believe i can. so i guess a little about my self. i started dipping in highschool while i was playing football. i remember my first pinch and at the time i probably didnt believe it would come to where im at now... fighting weakness and addiction. but here i am. I have a 7 month old daughter and a beautiful wife. the thought of dieing from somthing so preventible has been killing me lately. to miss my daughter growing up and losing a long, happy, and healthy life with my wife is unbearable to think of.. i love them so much. I know this road isnt easy.. ive tried it before, but i think this time is different because im having thoughts of my own mortality this time around. I WANT TO CHANGE!

Thoughts of dieing are killing you, yet you can't say your quit yet?

Here's a question...

If you were us, what would you say to YOU?

Kyle,
Well first of all you stated that you haven't quit yet but you threw out your stash. That to me sounds like a quit statement. Rid yourself of all tobacco, do not go to the patch, nic gum or any such device.

You will see from here we are 100% tobacco and nicotine free all the time. Do not try to quit just nut up and quit.

Your wife seems to understand that you are addicted to tobacco and I hope you do as well. Just quit for you, not her and not the family but YOU. If you fail it is on you, if you quit it is on you. I personally decided that I was done telling my wife and family that my happy addiction was worth more than them.

KTC is a brotherhood, be prepared to be held accountable. When you post roll that you quit you are making a promise to stay nic free for 24 hours. Never ever worry about tomorrow only today.

You should be in the Pre-HOF January 2014 Quit Group. Read how to post roll, then go do it. I wish I had the chance that you do to quit at 20, unfortunately I was already 8 years in and my addict brain was incapable.

I am sending you a PM (Personal Message) on here to your inbox, in the upper right hand corner of your window. Read it, do it and let's QUIT!

You are quit as long as you don't use the worm dirt anymore. Do not focus on a milestone. Fight today's battle only.

If this shit was easy none of us would need a Forum full of brothers and sisters to do it.

You posted role so you have now officially changed. You are now a quitter for the rest of today. Tomorrow you can wake up and do it again. There is a difference between quitting and stopping. Read around here and find out what it means. You know how to not do something. I'll bet the farm that if I tried to stick Pinched's puss ridden cock in your mouth you'd be able to fight me out of it. If you can do that you can keep that fucking poison out of your mouth that is controlling your life. You have to decide to your core that you are now quit and that your word to me means something. If I can quit after 20 years of 3 cans a day then you sure as hell can. See you tomorrow

Hey bud as you now know I will respond to anything I can for you. You posted roll today and I expect to see you again tomorrow as well. The Mrs is certainly supporting you and your intro thread is steeping with proven badass quitters. Everyone of us did this cold turkey, flushed out stash, and focused on each individual day independently. I hope you come to celebrate my HOF with me tomorrow.

I may reach day 100 tomorrow but each of those are one day at a time. I envy you for having a kick ass wife. My wife is special but scared to push me. No cheating on her with the Nic Bitch this time bro.

These next few days are gonna be hell, pure unadulterated hell. Quit minute by minute if you have too. Stay the course and remain dip free. TGAFish said it, only you can decide to put the shit in your mouth. You can't accidentally do it, you have to intentionally. Your just as quit as I today, it matters not how many +1's we have, it only matters that today is another one of those +1's. It isn't easy but quitting is simple here, post roll, keep your word, network and build your accountability, and reach out to your brothers and develop a support net for when times are tough. This does get easier as you add days so hang in here it is so worth it bro. I am quitting with you all day today. Erussell 176(+1's)

20 years old?!?! Brother,, I challenge you to find one person that is quit and posting roll that doesn't wish they would have quit at your age. Bro, I ask you to do one thing today. Listen to me and others,, we are not filling your head with bullsh__t!!!

Make this quit the most important thing in your life. Read everything you can on this site. Learn your enemy/nicotine. Research,,, there is a lot of information out there on nicotine and addiction. Learning your enemy will give you more determination and drive.

Fact,, I've read that only 3% your age quit and stay quit. That's actually great news because it means YOU can do this. YOU can be in that 3% or maybe YOUR the one that changes it to 4%,, how about that!!!

I ask you to think back to that day when you didn't need the poison to get through the day. It's hard to remember because the poison hides that day from you. You can get back to that,, trust me,, it's not long before you will feel like that again. You don't need the poison, never did. You need another number let me know.

Be careful looking at it as a 3 day hump.

Sure, nicotine takes about 72 hours to leave you body but guess what....your body is use to living on nicotine so it is about to fight you and fight you hard.

I am not trying to scare you or make things sound too hard to do, I just want you to be geared up and prepared.

The next 50-100 days are going to be difficult and you will have many bad days and a few good days. Use those good days to recharge your batteries and prepare for the next round of the fight. Quit one hour at a time, if that's too difficult, quit for one minute at a time.

When you think about it 100 days isn't very long but it can seem like forever when you are in the middle of it. You can do this and I will stand right beside you while you do it.

I need you to be successful so I know that I can stay successful in my quit.

Welcome, sir. First, let me say..... your wife is badass. Truly awesome that she took the first step here. I'm reaching out to you (and her also) because your story sounds exactly like mine. Go by your wife's intro page and check out my post there. Same boat, my friend....... same boat.

Now, once with that said...... we have another similarity. If your profile is correct, this is what is important to you:
Quote
Fishing, The Outdoors, my Wife and my Daughter
Also similar for me if you check my profile. My kids prompted me to quit. Go read my intro page here (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=8359) and see if that sounds familiar. Just trying to say.... I've been there.

Do not take this out on your family. They are innocent.

Shoot me a PM if I can help you out. Glad to pay forward what was given to me.

Welcome my friend! Next time you think about putting a dip in your lip, imagine your wife and baby daughter living the rest of their lives with another man as their number uno and not you. Seem too far fetched? Not if you keep putting poison in your lip and it wont' be. Almost pisses ya off enough to quit huh my man? Congrats and I'm proud to be quit with you brother!

If given the chance to make your quit that much more real by meeting a fellow KTC quitter I highly recommend it. Although it may seem strange to many that you met some random person online and want to meet them face to face. I promise you that the meetings I have had with KTC quitters were not at all akward, they turned out to be kick ass dudes that are now damn good friends. Hell you may even get the pleasure of having one of those people you meet in real life to welcome you onto the HOF train.

Awesome job on the quit so far fishin'. I always tell new quitters to remember you came here for a reason. Don't ever forget that. Continue to educate yourself with the THOUSANDS of resources this site has to offer. Most importantly, post roll everyday - that is your promise to the ladies and gentleman who are fighting everyday to keep the promise they made to you.

You guys are smart. Very smart. Wish I had realized the destructive power of nicotine and quit early like y'all have.

But...... nooooo, my dumb ass kept using for somewhere around 20 years. Really think about that for a bit. It is absolutely depressing to think about how much I degraded my health, and how much money I spent on tobacco during that time. I can guarantee you that the murderers over at big tobacco will never get another dime from me. Never.

I offer up a suggestion to y'all that I wish I had done. Figure out how much you've been spending daily on tobacco. Each day, put that amount of money in a container. Be diligent. Don't count it, or even look at it. Just add to it each day. If that's too much to spare, just put in half the daily amount. Then when you hit a year quit, dump it out, count it up, and celebrate however you see fit.

Me an radman are about in the same boat. I spent over 25 years and 25,000 plus dollars on the poison. I spent way more than that, but I want to puke everytime I think about it. I sure could use that right now as my girl starts college and needs a car. What an idiot!! I'm so jealous of both of you. Stay the course and never look back.

Learn everything you can on addiction and nicotine. The more you know the more your determination and drive will strengthen. There is so much information out there that was not available when I was younger (not that it would have done any good). After I began learning my enemy I really began building a hate for the poison that sustained me early in my quit. Stay quit,, there is nothing good that comes from the poison. It does only one thing well. TAKE!!!!! It will take until there is nothing left.

ill probably add a little extra pepper to it for some more burn until i get a chance to order that spitfire..im thinking of mixing spitfire and wintergreen together lol that should be interesting.. im used to the burn grizzly gave me. a little extra cayenne should help it come close

Let us know how your 'cocktails' turn out..... I've been mixing Smokey mountain Classic and Wintergreen together and adding a dash or two of black pepper (the kind you put on salad) it seems to add the right amount of burn for me.

A little extra dash of cayenne certainly did the trick. Really want to try that hooch spitfire. Perhaps even mix it with some hooch wintergreen. Day 4 in the books. On to day 5. Goodnight fellow quitters.

Going into day 5... sleep has been probably the most difficult thing.. the fakes with a little extra pepper has been helping the cravings, been extremely constipated the last couple days which im sure will cure in time. a dip and a cup of coffee has always been my prework routine until 5 days ago. wife has been extremely patient with me. i have my moments where i dont make sense and get frustrated very quickly with myself, but i havent had any outburst towards my family which is good. i feel that slowly starting this morning im sticking my head out of the fog little by little. im feeling better

Stay close to your alternatives. Your addict brain may just try to trick you into thinking that you are beyond the oral fixation until you aren't.

You are doing great. Do focus so much on your day count, just focus daily on promising to quit and actually doing just that.

I am damn proud of the way you have jumped into your quit with two feet and very strong at that. Keep up the good work and beat that addict brain down one day at a time.

Yes sir...

The 30's can be bad. Use any good days to recharge and prepare for the next rounds as you are not finished.

My "suck scale" looked something like this:

Day 1-3: bad fog, my brain didn't work at all. Very little sleep and couldn't take a dump to save my life. I wanted a dip every second of each day.

Day 4-10: Pretty much out of the fog but bad, bad cravings and headache every second of the day

Day 11-14: My cruise control days, I didn't think about dipping much and craves were few and far between. Sleeping good but too much.

Day 15-21 Starting to get my energy level back up. Craves about 2-4 per day and short. The first thing every morning, I started to get an empty and sick feeling in my stomach when I thought about not being able to dip. Started losing my temper easily.

Day 22-25 No real changes, cruising along but feeling a little depressed. I started learning how to hate my addiction and was really mad about it.

Day 26- 30: Wow, I was starting to gain a lot of weight. Weird how I replaced Cope with Ice Cream and cake. I don't even eat sweets but here I am 10 lbs heavier. I don't care, I'm not dipping and the craves are mild.

Day 31-38: Freaking fog was back, some nasty craves and my temper way out of control. WTF!

Day 39-60: The roller coaster days. Mod craves followed by no craves, bad temper and mild depression. A difficult time but I was not giving up at this point.

Day 61-73: The best days by far. Seldom think about dip, temper is way better, sleeping like a normal person and just feeling pretty darn good. I am stacking up these good days to recharge my batteries and prepare for the next round of fights".

Day 74- 85: Really good days. Strong cravings when I have too many drinks so I have been careful with drinking. Normal days are now 0-1 crave. My temper has been completely under control for 2 weeks now.

Day 86-99: Zero craves, zero dip dreams and temper under control. The strong craves when I drink are also gone. I am disgusted when I see someone dip. Proudly watching my group hit HOF one at a time; which is just how we quit, one day at a time. My guard is still held high as I know the fight is far from over.

Day 100-102: I am on a high as I have reached my first goal. My guard is held the highest it has ever been in because I will not disappoint all those who have helped me.

i believe ya.. i know all it takes is one shit day at work to set my cravings off.. ive been trying my hardest to stay away from conflict at work since i quit, because in the past id just go back to my office and take my anger out on my lip lol now i have to man up and deal with it
Congrats and keep it up man. You've got the conviction to see this quit happen. Glad to be quit with you. Oh, and nobody at the office has a clue what your going through unless they're quit. I'm still struggling with that one. Stay quit.

Awesome there man, and yes the strength originates from within each of us, but what we fail to remember is that when we start to feel weak that there is a strength here on the site between friends and quitters that can conquer all.

so remember there are tons of us right here with you.....

Everybody's quit day needs a little ray of ~ sunshine, wtf!?, ass kickin', or just something weird to offset the hum drum. I am providing a much needed service by keeping you on your toes and slightly off-balance. Life's more fun when you don't know what's comin'!

Rock on...

FishinDipShit--30 Days Free
HELL YEAH BROTHER! You are 30 days into this and you are rocking it like a badass! Keep up the good work and keep your quit close to KTC.

Now is a good time to review your own intro section and remember the early addict brain you had and how much you questioned if you could do this. Use that fantastic spousal support, hell go home today and give her a kiss and say "thank you". She deserves that dip free kiss from you brother.
