Dave welcome glad you decided to join me and my quit family. Ktc is for real it has some really great quitters who will help you along the way many of them will be the ones who helped me 409 days ago to get rid of the bitch. Of course you could walk cross the street and talk to me. If we can put 'fireman' fires out together we can beat the nic bitch. Then we can get our wives to show there 'boob'

Dave,
First of all welcome to KTC. Second you have an awesome friend in Scott. He is a role model for quit around here. I love that you have joined KTC as well. You will find that a good many of us create a bond of brotherhood that outstanding. I do however want to point out on minor thing with your QUIT. You indicated that you are giving up a nasty habit, I just want to make sure you understand that this is an addiction a habit that ties to it would be always checking your pocket for a tin or making sure you pack something to spit into while on a roadtrip.
Scott can be a guiding light for you as he has been for myself and many a quitter here. I am also sending you a PM on here, if you ever need anything reach out and I will be there for you.

My thoughts exactly. One of the most liberating, useful tools I developed against my addiction was admitting my addiction. I've gone on many a rant about it, but it's true. The sooner you come to terms with it, the sooner and better you can learn about it.
Welcome Dave - again, a friend of Scott's is a friend of mine.

Welcome to KTC Dave. Congrats on taking control of your life. I sent you a pm, as there is not much I can add to the wealth of advice you are getting already. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Hey thanks everyone that has posted or pm today there were some great words of wisdom and encouragement given to me ..Everyone keep the quit going. It is so nice not to have to find a spit bottle and to say I'm quit today i am loving it, but I have some days that have sucked but I am lucky and live close to sportsfan and he will let me ramble on about it.
-
Well look at your ass becoming a contributor on here! Well done sir. See we all help and get help all at the same time.
Newbies this kind of stuff is what makes this site work. When you come on here and rage or vent those who have walked that path before help but also get reminded about that same fucked up time in their past. The other newbies and some quit virgins see it as well.
Dave here stepped up and on his first day of posting also took the time to post in someone else's intro.
Well done brother!

I was talking to a friend of mine that has quit for 7 days telling him about this great site that I joined. He says sounds like you are worst off than me. He says I haven't chewed for 7 days i done i said to him just remember one day at time and that they did not build Rome in a day.just wanting some thoughts on how to convince him its harder than what he think.sorry I rambled on for so long but this just struck a nerve with me I am happy he is quit I just dont think he understand how hard it is.

Good morning Dave. Glad to see you so active just a day after joining the nut house crowd. You should really post this up in your own intro instead of making a new one, but I am sure that one of the moderators will merge it with your other one. As far as your friend goes, remember the old addage "You can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink?" Its lessons applies here I think. Some folks just think they can do it on their own. I believe I just read somewhere on here that only 5% of nicotine users actually succeed on their own. Offer your friend the sites web address and tell him to come in and check KTC out. There will be some sections that will be member only, but he can read alot of the material in the Welcome section for starters. Nice job so far.

Welcome man,
My main words of advise would have been to listen to Scott but it looks like you are covered there.
I will just throw up my quit timeline and maybe it will be of use to you.
My "suck scale" looked something like this:
Day 1-3: bad fog, my brain didn't work at all. Very little sleep and couldn't take a dump to save my life. I wanted a dip every second of each day.
Day 4-10: Pretty much out of the fog but bad, bad cravings and headache every second of the day
Day 11-14: My cruise control days, I didn't think about dipping much and craves were few and far between. Sleeping good but too much.
Day 15-21 Starting to get my energy level back up. Craves about 2-4 per day and short. The first thing every morning, I started to get an empty and sick feeling in my stomach when I thought about not being able to dip. Started losing my temper easily.
Day 22-25 No real changes, cruising along but feeling a little depressed. I started learning how to hate my addiction and was really mad about it.
Day 26- 30: Wow, I was starting to gain a lot of weight. Weird how I replaced Cope with Ice Cream and cake. I don't even eat sweets but here I am 10 lbs heavier. I don't care, I'm not dipping and the craves are mild.
Day 31-38: Freaking fog was back, some nasty craves and my temper way out of control. WTF!
Day 39-60: The roller coaster days. Mod craves followed by no craves, bad temper and mild depression. A difficult time but I was not giving up at this point.
Day 61-73: The best days by far. Seldom think about dip, temper is way better, sleeping like a normal person and just feeling pretty darn good. I am stacking up these good days to recharge my batteries and prepare for the next round of fights".
Day 74- 85: Really good days. Strong cravings when I have too many drinks so I have been careful with drinking. Normal days are now 0-1 crave. My temper has been completely under control for 2 weeks now.
Day 86-99: Zero craves, zero dip dreams and temper under control. The strong craves when I drink are also gone. I am disgusted when I see someone dip. Proudly watching my group hit HOF one at a time; which is just how we quit, one day at a time. My guard is still held high as I know the fight is far from over.
Day 100-122: I am on a high as I have reached my first goal. My guard is held the highest it has ever been in because I will not disappoint all those who have helped me.

I merged your intros, Dave.
Regarding your question, think of all the times you tried to quit on your own and failed. You're friend may actually succeed but it's not likely.
Our quit strength is in the accountability built here and in the integrity of our promise when we post roll.
Keep going, my friend. You're doing it.

I had stoppages when I was younger at will I could just quit and be ok. Not really have big withdrawal issues but those were just stoppages nothing holding me to quit not even me. I knew that dip was just as far as it was to the gas station so no biggy. I think age has a lot to do with it how old is he? I stopped once for 60 days not a prob for insurance policy test. I knew it wasn't the last time I did the dirty with the whore so I was good. Yes I know stooooopppppid addict behavior.
The quit is totally different it was an animal of its own. Way more at stake than a stoppage. Its over.
Might ask him if he is quit or stopped. Also IMO you want to be as bad off as you can be when you are withdrawaling that way that physical ass kicking is deeply imprinted on your brain and NAFAR comes to mind.
Never Again For Any Reason

It is truly amazing when you reach self-enlightenment and see that no one can do shit for you anymore and that you need to nut up and do shit for yourself.
Great advice on the alternatives, that will come in handy with many a new quitter. Keep doing what you are doing.

Shhh don't tell any of my fellow Devil Dawgs but yeah it is cleansing to cry. He'll brother when you write someone from the heart or you let your emotions out you can help but have a tear in your eye. Scott is a great quitter and one hell of a brother, it would be impossible to not be emotional when you talk about a man like him.

There are a lot of amazing brothers and sisters in quit here, but let's be honest:
You are one lucky mo fo, Dave, to have Scott in your neighborhood. Sportsfan has saved A LOT of quits.

You are in the right place Dave. Scott figured out a lot earlier than I did how important relationships and connections are to success. He reached out to me on my first day, and when the fog bogged me down for the first month - he kept checking in. Building accountability to the people on your team is what works when nothing else does. It is clear that you get it as well. Glad you are here.

Nice meeting you in chat Dave. It is amazing what happens when an addict actually sees people who are successfully quitting. "Hey, I can do this too". Great stuff man.

Well I am on dav 43 of my quit I have had some days that have suck big donkey balls also I have some really good days that make up for the bad days , but you know what I continue to push on in my quit one day at a time. Some of the things that help me out with my quit is just getting on here and reading some of the HOF letters or here lately I have been checking out the chat room. I have also been chatting with people on text in a group that is fun just helping others out with there quit and seeing some of the crazy things that are in the text messages . You have just got to get on this Rough road adventure get some friends and have some fun with them because believe it or not just seeing some crazy text message can help you in your quit.
-
Well I am halfway to the HOF I am loving it there is no letting up I have to just keep pushing on my days have been pretty easy the last few . I have to stay strong because I know there is days that are going to be hard to get through but if I stay strong make friends talk to them on my days that will be hard for me I will make it and for everyone remember you only get there one day at a time.
-
Kick ass Dave. Don't let up you have a winning quit going. I'm depending on you to make the HOF and letting me know how it feels. Mogul

He'll yes Dave ! Halfway there... Dude, it seriously seems like yesterday. Of course, my last 50 probably went a lot faster than yours!! Keep the faith. There will be some challenges, but the next 50 should be better. Mostly because you have acquired a taste for freedom!

You're doing great Dave!! You are the glue of the FFFFoQ's. Caving is not an option. You will be in a world of shit from me personally if you cave.

I get on here read intros , chat , or I text guys in my group to just talk to them. I love getting on here just to see how some of the other guys are doing in there quit and if I can help them with there quit by just saying a few words it makes my quit just a little bit stronger each day. 'Finger' nic bitch I quit one day at a time.

Hey Sportsfan...have you asked his wife is she would prefer that he continues to dip and spend money while shortening his life?
Keep in mind that day 100 is just like any other day, some of the hardest days for many are the post 100 days, as some people start to drop off the radar (some will be people you valued and trusted); you will fill somewhat abandoned, you will get weird cravings you may even question if you still need KTC.
Push on forward...PS we ought to get you guys a HOF license plate frame that you can put on one of the engines in the bay.

WeÂ’re steering this train to Monroe City Indiana to pick up a badass named Dave1903. This married quitter has a kid on the way. He started the habit of cancer dirt at the age of 15. His chew of choice was Grizzly. HeÂ’s bringing a keg of budlight on the train to share. If an emergency should arise, we ought to call his wife or Sportsfan. This quitter maintains presses for a living and drives an F250 to work. He likes to ride 4-wheelers and loves to fish in his spare time. His favorite sports teams are the Dallas smileys-cowboy-004168.gifs and the Kentucky Wildcats.
When asked if he enjoyed any inappropriate behavior, this quitter said that he loves boobs. Big or small, he loves them all. (Im the same way). For celebrating his huge accomplishment, this badass wants a steak dinner but will probably end up settling for pizza with his wife. He said that Sportsfan was the most influential person for him but says that all of the quitters have helped in all sorts of ways. We asked him if he planned on signing up for 200 days and he said “Hell yeah, Id be a fool not too”. THe words of wisdom that he wants to share is to “just quit ODAAT”.
Wise words from a true badass.

Dude, one minute we're playing in a fantasy football league and then the next you're AWOL?...sure, life gets in the way of said extra-ciricular activities but it doesn't get in the way of roll. Ever. So, follow through on that promise to your quit brothers in the 2014 FFFoQ's...I'm sure they could use a teammate as you round the corner to 900 days. Congrats on the little one on the way.
-
Hey everyone I have been very bad at posting roll but I had little talk with one of my quit brothers today . He said Dave I can't force you to post roll but it sounds like with some of the things going with your Dad and stuff you could use some support from your quit brothers that they are there for anything. Thanks we just to talk about different things like a big family that we are. You know what Grizclaws that little talk was good today it reminded me that you guys are there for anything thanks for picking up the phone today . We in the Freedom Fighters are nearing 3 years of freedom I wouldn't have been able to that with all of you guys and gals help from the different groups on this awesome site called Kill the Can as i like to say kick that bitch to the curb
