Here's my story. Been dipping cope for 28 of my 42 years. For the last several years, I've been dipping cope pouches and cut my intake from 1 can/day(fine cut) to 1 can/2 days. The only thing that switching to pouches saved was a few extra dollars. I found that with pouches, I could eat, drink and occasionally sleep with a dip in. I went from spitting a dip out after an hour, then not having another one for a couple hours to having a dip in every waking hour. I've tried quitting in the past but started up again when I packed on the weight. I also have a very weak will. I've decided today that I'm going to quit, but I have to have a crutch so I've ordered 5 cans of Bakk Off (tried this in the past and really enjoyed it). My quit day will be the day my package arrives, if my calculations are right I will have used my last can of cope from my roll(I'm also a tight wad and can't stand wasting money). I also have a scheduled Dr appointment for blood work in a couple weeks and want to address the use of Chantix while I'm there. He's offered it before but I didn't accept due to the cost (remember I'm cheap at least with everything but my vices) and the fact that i wasn't ready to quit. I had an uncle that used chantix and it worked like a charm and this guy was a 2 can/day user for 30 years.
My biggest issue will be the oral fixation since I'm so used to having a pouch in my lip all damned day not to mention my occupation tends to have a lot of users (Currently assigned as a Sgt in Criminal Investigations of a local PD). Thankfully none of my Detectives dip but there are plenty of road guys that do. I've already warned my guys that I'm going to become a much bigger A-hole in the coming weeks and to bear with me.
Ok, having read a few post on here, I know that this community prefers quitting cold turkey and i may get some grief for my strategy (planning my quit ahead of time), but I want to make certain that I have something in place to cover the oral fixation beside gum/candy/seeds. I hope that this strategy, along with support from fellow addicts, will help me to be successful. I look forward to what the future has in store for me in this community and in my life..

In 72 hours all the nic will be out of your system and you will be smiling ear to ear. Do you really want to put that gun to your head and pull the trigger now that you are aware. We don't know which one will be the one that ends it all. I promise you that it is so much easier than your addict brain is telling you. I would be very careful with Chantix too had a good friend commit suicide after 3 weeks on that drug.

Kick, if you read other's post, why make the effort to post today? Jeffinraleigh posted the same thing yesterday, and after several bad ass quitters roasted him, decided he did have a penis and balls and quit today. So again I ask, why post when you know that somewhere in the next 12 hours you will be accused of having a man-gina, someone will post all in bold and discredit you, and others will do other various tactics.
I'd love to offer up digits and talk you into to dumping the shit today, but I stayed up until 10 last night waiting for Jeffinraleigh to call, and that really cut into my Matlock and Murder She Wrote time. Only one special futuristic quitter a week for me.
Another trinket, I waited 30 days extra by using a patch, a decision I regret for many reasons, and once It was off, it still sucked balls. Don't be me, and don't wait, flush the shit or give it away, and quit today.

Delaying your quit even one minute is just your mind making excuses to hold the bitch close for one more hour/day. The nic bitch is convincing you the same thing we are attempting to but for opposite reasons. "just one day" longer to dip. then tomorrow comes and its "just another day of dip". If the nic bitch can convince you to continue dipping just one day at a time then you will never quit. This means you will lose your jaw, die, or both. Don't be that guy that loses a jaw, dies, or both.....
You do not need chantix, nic gum, patches, or a nice comfortable day (they do not exist) to quit on. You need balls, a roll call, a promise, KTC introductions, Kern stories, tobacco slavery information, phone numbers, and/or a private message area to get you through. And guess what??? its all fuckin free of charge. Quit this minute, then this hour, then this day and repeat it tomorrow. We got this together.

Look at the list of names on our quit group and ask yourself how many of those guys quit because it was an optimal time for them to do so. Screw that bro, not a single damn one. I used coffee grounds once on a really bad crave around day 50.. it worked, got me past it.

Yea the oral fixation can be a bitch but it does pass. I used smokey Mountian for most of my first 100 days. I also used chantix. I think it helped but it did give me some weird and vivid dreams. Planned future quits seldom materialize. I liked smokey Mountian much better than baccoff. After 40+ years of intense using and now being quit for over 2 years I can say that getting past the first few steps; making the decision (really making it), deciding to use every tool available 100%, facing the pain head on and accepting that it was a price I had to pay for my many years of abuse. Today I quit because I enjoy the freedom

Damn it, you guys are tough...I think maybe getting blasted from you guys was what I wanted when I wrote that....This is going to be a bitch....I spit a pouch out and made the decision to go ahead and quit...two seconds after i spit it out, I stand up and my hand immediately goes to my pocket and for a split second I almost pulled it out to get one....So...the 4 remaining pouches have been busted and put into the trash....I've got 2 more hours at work and when I get home I'm thinking about taking the remaining cans and dumping them into a bowl, maybe let my daughter pour some bleach or something on them, since she get's on my ass, to quit, when she sees me put one in. I want to do it this way so there's no temptation to dig them out of the trash later...Oh and I'm doing this for me 1st and my daughter 2nd...I just know she'll be overjoyed to help me kick it...
Oh and by the way, the coffee in Green Mountain Coffee, breakfast blend K-cups packs pretty good...Thanks for the push..here goes nothing everything........

As other have said, do not worry about tonight or next hour. When I started there were times that I watched the seconds go by on my watch. Read this site, POST ROLL EVERY DAY. This site works. IF, you drink the coolaid.

Badass move #1 was accomplished when you listened to all these people and pulled the trigger. It's not easy to do that and I commend you for that.
One thing you said in your intro that I wanted to point out as a misperception is that you said the hardest part will be quitting the oral fixation. I full-heartedly disagree with this. The hardest part will be quitting nicotine, i.e. the drug you're addicted to. The oral part, don't even concern yourself with it. Use whatever you need: seeds, jerky, or fake shit that has no nicotine. You're primary concern is to promise not to use nicotine in any form for that day. You make that promise by posting roll. Once you have a quit foundation, if you want to ween off the oral stuff, then do whatever you want,...not putting nicotine in your system,...this is your job, and doing a good job at that will save your life.
