Title: Introduction
Post by: brothrbry on September 22, 2013, 12:39:00 PM
Hi I am Bryon,

I have chewed since I was 13. I am now 44 years old and have decided to quit. I tried the NRT for several weeks and stop using it two days ago. First two days without nicotine 'bang head' working through it

Welcome. NRTs don't do anything except prolong the withdrawl effects and keep you addicted to nicotine. Read. Read. And then read some more. This is going to suck for a bit, but you weren't born with dip in your face so you can be without it now.

Also... Wrap your head this... 1 more day and the nicotine is gone from your system. 72 hours. That's all it takes to be physically clean. Immerse yourself in this site and the brotherhood/community it represents ~ it'll save your life, keep you clean, and give you a support system that is second to none. Welcome to freedom bro... It's pretty damn cool.

Welcome brother. Be prepared for the fight of your life (and for your life). Trust me, it is 100% worth it. Quit with you today.

Hey Byron - I also chewed for about 30 years, and have been quit since last January. Now that you're really quit, stay away from the NRT. Instead use jolly ranchers, gum, sunflower seeds, and fake/herbal chew for a while.

Read around this site, tons of good info here. Learn how to post roll in the December 2013 group and do so every damn day. Also try out the Live Chat, that's a great place to meet other quitters, get some phone numbers, and provides a great distraction during those tough cravings.

Quit with you today Byron. Hang tough thru these first days, it does get better. If you need a phone number just shoot me a private message where you see "Inbox" in the upper-right ish.

Hey brothr... welcome to KTC. Did you get in and post roll today? I was looking at the Dec Quit page  did not see your name in there. Go up to the welcome center above and read how/why we post roll. This is the most critical thing you can do today. Posting roll is your commitment to quitting today  joining the rest of the folks on this site that did the same thing today. We quit one day at a time. Good job tossing the NRT paraphernalia... that stuff just keeps you hooked  under the thumb of Big Tobacco. Got to go cold turkey. It is the only way. You got this. Quit with you today.

Still just 1 post, Byron??? are you still quit? if so, why not join up with the KTC program and increase your chances of staying quit? its damn near impossible to do on your own. Come back and post roll daily with the December group!

Brothrbry, if you think the hold nicotine has over you can be calmed by just bouncing in and saying hello, your sorely mistaken. The only thing that's kept me quit every damn day is that little promise I made to this beautiful group of degenerate addicts. We fear what we don't understand and I couldn't fathom a life of freedom until I was free. Take yours back today HERE. (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=8847) Don't wait, do it now.
You've got mail.

30 days, that is fantastic. Nice Job! Yes, those first battles were the hardest for me too, but the bitch aint done yet. Any one of us can fall off, and I think it happens as soon as we think we have this thing licked. Stay vigilant, keep on posting roll.
Quit with you.

Cali-slim hit the nail on the head...you are weakest when you think you have this licked.

So, keep posting roll and stay involved. By the way, I've heard there really is a finish line. The day you post 100K days quit, you are free to declare that you have won and that you are no longer an addict. So, we're on our way...

My worst days were day 31-38. I am not trying to scare you, just want to make sure you are prepared. Get really involved on this site and pay it forward.

Also use these good days to recharge and prepare for the next rounds of the fight.

Several days over the half way mark to 100. Had some of that stuff ParadigmDawg was talking about (rough days) around day 44-48. Guess it hits us all at different times. I would not trade a single day of my quit for anything. Everything I have gone through has been worth it to achieve the goal.

It is worth the fight to be quit. Never give up, Never give in!

Fourty days for myself and the rollercoaster is still cruising top speed. Relish in the good days to prepar for dark times. Today was particularly shitty and i kept grabbing that pocket where my circle of comfort cancer used to be. I was surprised each time my hand came up empty. The difference was i had no inclination to hop in my truck and drive to the corner store. One month ago i would have crossed three counties to find a tin of grizzly natural fine cut. But no more.
Winning your freedom is incremental, the challange is celebrating and recognizing the progress.

Today is my birthday and I have received from myself the greatest gift...
This will mark my first birthday since 1982 that I have not had a dip in my lip. My freshman year of high school, 19 freakin' 82!!!! We are now 13 years into a new Millennium and much has changed. Back in my day you could freely market tobacco products to whoever you like. Billboards, magazines, and Earl Campbell 'Skoal Brother' commercials(Star NFL Running back) . It was so cool to have that dip B) Manley even, no pussies need apply here. As I continue to rehabilitate from this addition spanning three decades, I see the end and new beginning. Today I can simply say...Fuck You Earl! and the horse the Marlboro man rode in on for that matter (have some smoker quit brothers/sisters also). I still crave nicotine sometimes but I crave LIFE all the time.
