Here is an informative post from a good friend of mine in the April 12 group. he said it best so I just cut and paste.
I will, however, add a few things. Quit for yourself. No one can quit for you so you can't make your quit about other people. Yes, we can be "pretty rough" on this site, but we all share a common goal: Helping ourselves and others rid themselves of our addiction to nicotine. Sometimes people need a swift kick in ass and that's what we deliver!
Just do it - there will always be an excuse not to quit - make the decision to kick your nicotine habit to the curb. This site can help. There are no short cuts, but here are some links that will help you navigate this site. Rule number one, this is a no nicotine site, period, end of story.
Biggest thing to do is get acquainted with this site. Highly recommend you go here: WELCOME CENTER (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13)
What to Expect When You Quit Dipping (http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/what.asp)
This a a NO NICOTINE SITE, period, no discussion.
We "Post Roll Call" daily ( our promise to ourselves and to our brothers not to use nicotine today)- We DO THIS DAILY
Make posting roll the first step of your daily proactive quit.
Where to post roll call: PRE JULY HOF 2012 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=6205)

Welcome to your quit! You can do this!
There are plenty of seniors on this site (I"m 51). I chewed for ~38 years, quit since feb 10. The freedom is worth it!

Well I've already done an intro on here and I was one of those guys that thought they didn't need a site like this and figured I was better off on my own so, I went out and quit for about 45 days then gave into the nic bitch, then I learned a little support can go along way and I thought of this site and today I quit yet again but with people in the same position as me but anyway a little bit about me again my name is Ron I've chewed for probably around 30 years and 47 now so it's time to get on board and do this
-
Welcome. Were in the same quit group, im on day two. Im a 10 year addict, and i do think this site has value in regards to quitting. If you need anything send me a PM. Remember, one day at a time
-
Ron it is good to see you coming back but I certainly expect your participation. Drink deep and accept the help from others but also pay it forward. Those of us that quit back when you paused are now approaching that 1 year mark, it's been damn hard and a lot have fallen by the sidelines. I'm still posting daily, why? I still need that daily commitment and I know that I can't do it alone yet! I wish I could but I'm still susceptible to my addiction!
One of the mods want to combine this intro with his new one.

Welcome, there are plenty of those who are quit for months and years. Then are guys like me, who are just days in. The guys that have been quit for a long while are always willing to help, sometimes they will be blunt and tell you how it is, but remember they truly care. Tough Love!
I am an 8-9 year addict and on Day 4, not even looking back or thinking twice about this decision. Let's make this HOF in June together!
Welcome back to the quit zone...
-
Thanks guys I'm ready to do this day one is weird but I'm glad to be doin this and happy to quit with you guy

Welcome jack. Listen to these veterans on here they will not steer you wrong. They told me they first 3 days would suck and they did for sure. I am on day 5 and it is getting easier by the day. Just hang in there like a hair in a biscuit. We will get through this together as a june group.

Damn guys i don't know why but today's been the worst so far, I started work at 8 and if course half my co workers dip so I get to see that all day on top of that I'm tired as hell and usually when I'm tired I chew quite a bit more, I have my gum and two bags of seeds with me and I've been reading this site for about half hour now, only day two and I'm already being tested but I did promise no nicotine and I keep my promises
