Title: New here. Day 1 for me. I am finally fed up with it.
Post by: CMullis95 on December 16, 2017, 01:43:00 AM
HowÂ’s it going fellas? My name is Corey Mullis, IÂ’m 22 years old and have been an avid dipper for going on 10 years now. I am finally fed up with it. I have let it control me for too long, and I am ready to quit. I live in Kentucky, and am a Journeyman HVAC Installer. I have been married to my sweet little wife for 3 and a half years, and been with her for 7 years. She always thought I had quit dipping when we first started dating, when in reality I didnÂ’t. I was always ashamed of myself for hiding it from her, so about a year after we got married I finally broke down and told her the truth. She accepted it surprisingly well. But I just canÂ’t stand the thought of being a slave to grizzly anymore and taking the chance on leaving her behind in this ole world. IÂ’ve been reading all of your guys posts on here for the last week or longer and it has given me the courage to finally lay it down. I actually planned on finishing the can that I had tonight and starting fresh when I wake up in the morning, but I decided to dump that crap about 10 minutes ago. I know that I have a rough road ahead, but for some reason I am excited about quitting. (Never thought I would feel that way) I am confident that with help from the Big man upstairs and you guys here on the site that I can finally get rid of this awful addiction. So happy to be a part of this. And canÂ’t wait to make some friends. Good luck to everyone else that is quitting along with me! LetÂ’s do it!

What's up Corey!!

22 years old and quitting? Awesome!! I am 23 years old and 278 days quit. Trust me, it was the best decision I made when I was 22. I see that you already found your March quit group. Your attempt to post roll was a bit off, you posted an older day and in the support section....No worries! I will attach the link to a video on how to post roll HOW TO POST ROLL VIDEO LINK (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmDgTPJ6HyM). Your next few days will be tough but use this site to its full capability and you will overcome it, as we all did.

Please reach out to anyone on this site if you need ANYTHING, we are all here for a reason. It is better to build a network with other quitters rather than doing this alone..Check your inbox, and get back to me

Goodluck and happy to be quit with you!

Big Red

Hey Corey - welcome! I sent you a private message (PM). If you scroll to the top of the page, in the very upper right hand corner of the page you will see a link that is named "Inbox". That's where you can read, respond to, and send PMs to other quitters on the site.

Proud to quit with you today, sir!

Hi Cmullins95/Corey,

Welcome to the group.
Welcome to the group.

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

Next, you will learn to distract your attention from your desire for a dip to anything else that interests you. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially in your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.

I quit with you today.

Welcome young man! I like you started at a very young age of 12 but unlike you I continued for 38 long years before I found Ktc. I had a bunch of brief stops along the way but by the grace of God and the help of all of my brothers and sisters here at ktc, IÂ’ve been nic free 1085 days. I will not sugar coat it for you, IÂ’m a straight shooter. ItÂ’s gonna be really tough for awhile but post your promise early every day, stay as close to the site as you can, explain to the wife what youÂ’re doing, get plenty of numbers and use them. Find someone in your group that you can text with daily. Get some vets to help you. Buy into ktc, donÂ’t have the I think I can do this attitude! Have the IÂ’m tired of tobacco controlling my life and IÂ’m man enough to get this done! You will learn from day to day just what that little number beside your name means. I would have loved to had the chance to have ktc some 30 years ago. Remember when you feel angry and believe me you will, come on the site and bitch at us, we may bitch back a little but itÂ’s better than taking it out on your family, after all they didnÂ’t stick that nasty shit in your mouth. This place works if you let it. You will see a lot of stuff on here that you really like and some you want, take what you need and leave the rest. I want you to make a promise now and by the way everytime you post that is a promise that you will not dip for the next 24 hours so if youÂ’re a man of your word if you post early every damn day you can not fail. Be sure to share it with your dipping buddies and all of your family and most of all be proud, thereÂ’s a whole lot of folks that cannot do what you are gonna do! Back to the promise, IÂ’m gonna send you my number please text me before you decide to ever put that poison back in your mouth. Remember youÂ’re an addict just like the rest of us! IÂ’m damn proud to be quitting with you today!

^^^YES!

Bad ass, Pab!

Hey Corey... 1,085 days ago Pab joined KTC with an into titled “lonely road ahead” about how life would more or less be sad going forward without his good friend nicotine. Read that post he typed again... does he sound lonely or sad? Nicotine is one big lie. You can do this. It will be easier with guys like Pab in your corner.

Welcome aboard!

Gonna echo what my quit brother Pab just said. I think it's friggin' awesome you're quitting at such a young age. It took damn near four decades (with a 15-month stoppage in the middle) for me to finally get that cranial-rectal extraction done and put the can down for good. You're well ahead of the power curve bubba! Just remember that it came to pass, it didn't come to stay. And I've conducted literally hundreds of hours of searches on the interwebs in the past three or so years, and have NEVER found any article talking about death from nicotine withdrawals. It just seems like it at times! Just keep plowing through one day at a time (ODAAT), and you'll get through the SUCK. Give it time, you were addicted for ten years....getting over this is gonna take some work, but you got this!!

Thanks everyone. Today hasnÂ’t been too bad until around 5 PM. I feel down right depressed and it is getting to me. Anyone else deal with this?

Just about everyone has and some still do. You gonna go through some weird emotions, thatÂ’s your brain trying to rewire itself. Gonna try to get itself back to normal and itÂ’s gonna take time. Keep yourself busy, read, exercise talk to your wife. I usually go for a walk. It may last a day or 2 but eventually it will get better. Remember ole Nicky wants you back real bad and she can be very convincing

Dude... Steak here and I'm gonna tell you, it's rare to see this many vets jump on the quit train of a young whippah snappah like you this fast. What, you're on day 3 and you have the likes of Cavman, Pab, and Worktowin. Those dudes, alone, account for close to 4000 days of badass quit. Then you get legends in the making, dundippin, Samrs, and Big red giving you some initial encouragement. That is some serious support right there.

So, 3 days in and you have 6 veterans on your team. You already have new friends. Brothers in quit who are dedicated to making sure you save your life every damn day. Three days ago you had no idea that quitting would yield you a whole legion of support, across the US, who are dedicated to this mission. This, my friend, is accountability. Now, if you cave, you not only crush yourself, you destroy this foundation you have already built. Stay involved, grow your foundation, and dammit...if you do one thing, every day, its post roll.

You better be back her tomorrow Corey. You got your 7th rock for your foundation right here.

Corey, in a war there are always those moments that are pivotal. Where success is defined, but where winning takes every ounce of passion and conviction that a team can put forth. Where there is a fine line between winning and losing. Brother, you are in one of those moments... you are about to push out of the physical part of this where nicotine is putting up its A game fight to convince you that you need it in order to survive. That just one little hit of nicotine will cure your problems and make you SuperCorey again. Well, it won't. It is all a lie. All that one little hit would do is restart the misery.

So, as you push forward through a fight that seems impossible... know this... you will never, ever, ever have to relive these past 3 days. That you are not walking this walk, fighting this fight, and winning this battle alone. And that how you are feeling right now is not the new normal for you. Today is like one of those bad days of having the stomach flu - where, well you know, is going in all directions and you'd rather be dead than go through it. But... like the stomach flu, this misery doesn't last. I promise you that brighter days are ahead.

Hang tough, one day at a time, you are a winner.
