It is early Saturday morning and I am quitting for the second and last time in my life. I have been meaning to quit for a while now; I mean I really do hate dipping but you know how it has a hold on you. I got online and and searched for tips on quitting and thats how I found this place.
The first time I quit dipping was for 5 years and that was 11 years ago. Before that I had dipped for over 20 years... I got divorced and that was all the excuse I needed to start back up again. But even so I knew I was making a big mistake and I have hated it ever since.
I am glad to be here.

Welcome klugman. Some good folk here with some good advice. What kinda triggers do you have and what are your plans for when the craves hit?

Strap in dude! You know what you're in for dontcha? First things first... Head up to the Welcome Center link in the banner at the top of the page. Learn about your quit group (you will be in October), learn about daily posting and why/how we do it. Read, read, read! This site has everything you need to help you bro and ... You have us. We know what you're feeling, what you're going through, and what you will go through! This will NOT be easy but, damn, is it worth it. PM me if you have questions or for ANYTHING bro. Let's do this...

That's awesome. I hope to see you post roll. KTC can't force you to decide to quit, but if you post roll and are a man if you word it will take the hope out if your quit. I am going thru a divorce at just 82 days and I will without a doubt remain quit today! Listen to Apple's instructions below and post roll with us. I will quit with you.

Day one is a momentous occasion but nothing compared to the real, true, non-nicotine induced euphoria of good things in life and the raw, unmasked angst (when that has to come along). There will be a little more of the second thing for sure the first week or so so lean on your fellow KTC members for support. Whatever you do don't take another dip! And post roll every day, give your word and keep it bro.

Thanks for the well wishes. It is the beginning of day 2 and I feel fine. I am using smokey mountain Herbal to hold something in my mouth and I have plastic toothpics as well. I am gonna chew the hell out of them. I kinda enjoy the immense rush of energy building up inside of me...
I feel the need for speed.
-
I felt fine...but then my day turned into hell...I made it through though thanks to some members here.
It is Day 3 and I am sore as hell but I have been drinking the water and chewing the toothpicks.
I will make it through today.

May well be another tough day man, nothing the rest of us haven't already gone through and survived though.

That's how we do it! One Day At A Time!
Klug I reached far back into my quit and brought this forward, it actually means more to me today than it did then:Day 69 Im back and my funk has passed! finally! ONE DAY (unit) AT A TIME! What a simple concept, almost too simple to take serious until you think about it.  Life is about one day at a time. Each of our lives began as one day at a time. One word, one step, one friend, some of the days were rewarding and successful others not so much. (I’ve been working on this one for 55 yrs) Those of you that are married: marriage is one day at a time, some fun and rewarding others difficult and depressing. (I’ve been working on this one for 32 yr) Raising children: One exciting moment and success after another, stumbles and falls, ups and downs, happy days and really sad days. One sleepless night after another when they are newborn to one sleepless night after another when they are teens. (I’ve been working on this one for 31 yrs) Addiction to NICOTINE: That happened one day (one pinch) at a time; I seriously doubt that any of you started dipping a full can a day. For me it was probably a small pinch every day or two, then a pinch a day, a pinch two or three times a day, Till I had the shit in my mouth literally 24/7. (I’ve been working on this one for nearly 40 yrs.) QUIT: Why should our quit be any different? Simply stated it can’t be. Quitting our addiction to nicotine is a process, a long process, one day at a time. It may end up being one minute at a time when we first start the process. Remember ONE UNIT AT A TIME. One day, one minute, one success, one triumph, one crave, one trigger, one cry, one rage , etc. (I’ve been working on this one for 69 days) When each day ends I will continue to examine how I preformed that day and how I can improve on it, when I report in the next day. This is the process of Life, Live it to your greatest potential and be proud of your accomplishments. I have got to say that I am proud of my quit and proud to be quit with each of you addicts. Because of my addiction I haven't allowed myself to be proud of much for a very long time.

Wt57- that is brilliant insight and advice- thank you for digging this out.
Klug- if you haven't already I would recommend finding Wt57's intro thread and reading it from post 1 till done- this has been the most helpful tool for my quit. Seeing that I am not a special butterfly- and learning from those that have walked it and are still walking it. I know that I am going to read his thread and learn how to quit like fuck.

I feel you buddy. I know how it feels. But the most fucked up thing for me was this. The first two weeks of my Quit was no problem. I dipped 1-2 cans a day for 25 years. I couldn't believe I was quitting.
It was like day 77 and it occured to me that I could quit...so maybe I could have like one dip a day. It couldn't hurt. Maybe one after work...or during the game...or fishing. Whatever...
Keep your guard up!! I'm so glad I never caved. 236 days being free from nicotine. It's now getting easier for me. Everyone is different. But for me the first two weeks were the easiest. Nicotine is one mean bitch!!
Kick her skanky ass each day....One day at a time...."NO DIPPING TODAY!!!!"
Oh...and you'll save thousands of dollars too.....
You can do it buddy! If I can quit...YOU can quit!!! KC Bronco--aka Jason

Hey man enjoyed meeting you in chat. Give us an update on your quit now at day 8.

I am day number 10 today of my Quit. The physical part of the addiction is gone now and it is the mental stage now. Cravings are sporadic and I am only reminded I dipped when I go to do anything.
I am determined to make this quit stick and go the rest of my life nicotine free.
I really appreciate the support I have been given by more than a few of the members here. I am not much for talking on the phone or remember everyone's names but I do appreciate your time and support.

Day 11 : Today was my first day at a new job. I did really well today and didn't crave at all...I mean not once. I hate dip so much and I hate the lies that lead us to dip and smoke in the first place. I hate the fact that I quit for 5 years and then started back again over a woman.
I love that I have succeeded Quitting again and I love the fact that I have learned so much in the past 11 days about myself and my addiction. I love that no matter what comes my way I WILL NEVER DIP AGAIN.
Thanks again for your support.

Klug,
This is your true quit, your real quit, your actual quit. That thing before was just a stoppage. Now, you are quit. And a damn fine quit it is.
Those first crave free days are fantastic aren't they? The first glimpses of the world unplugged from the nic-matrix. True freedom.
Glad to quit with you.

Today was my second day at my new job. The dip demon jumped on my shoulder about halfway through the day and started demanding I ask a co-worker for a dip. I suffered thinking about this for about 30 minutes then finally approached him and told him I had been contemplating asking him for some nasty Grizzly...he said "well do you want a dip ?" I said no thank you I quit and went back to work.
A crave is only that and nothing more. We can say NO.

Should have called a brother. Sorry you battled on your own. Get a number of someone you can call or go into chat.
A crave happens but I think you entertained it too much. Call, text or go into chat where you can get support.

Glad you held firm. Yes, she'll whisper in your ear. I'm glad you listened to the little angel duck quacking into your other ear.
Stay strong brother. That's a victory today, but a scary one. Proud to be quit with you.

Tomorrow you should approach the same guy and tell him that you are quit and that if you EVER ask him for a dip again he should kick you on the stones. Further, tell him that if he ever voluntarily ask you if you want one, that you will empty the can on the floor. Period.
Post roll early and take caving off the table for the remainer of the today.

Good job yesterday. Next time you see that co worker, watch him closely. Watch how he can't make it an hour without putting a pinch of death in his pie hole. Watch how he proudly puts the poison in his pie hole and suckles with it. All the while it is taking his freedom and leading him around by a chain. Watch him closely,, loves the poison more than his family, friends and himself. Yea, I said friend to. Your not very high on his list either when the poison is calling. He would gladly do just about anything for that can of poison. Your co worker is bound tied and chained brother.
Not you,,, your a bad ass quitter. No can leads you around anymore. Telling you when you can go to bed. What time to wake up. When to go to the store and what to spend your money on. You don't need a can helping you do your job. You are in control now brother. Screw, the can,, screw your coworker and screw big tobacco. I quit with you today.

Klugman, great job on your quit so far. These folks who know way more than I do about quit, have given excellent advice.
I only add to what MThomas said. Remember, caving is not an option. You posted, and gave your word, so when a crave hits, there is nothing to consider except getting through it. No need to wrestle with it. Instead, be pissed off that the nicbitch is still barking at your door- tell it to bark all it wants, it ain't coming in. Go about your day.
Again, great job so far. Glad to be quit with you.

Good job-
Print out the contract- keep it with you at all times and use it as a last line- Call one of you quit brothers- send a text- get into chat-
Grab some of the pubes on the underside of your nutsack and give a good yank- then shove the pubs in your mouth instead- That's better than the ole wad of death! (I just came up with that!)

You guys are all crazy as hell...yeah I fit right in. Thing is that I am all alone with my addiction once I get to work (no Cell phones). I can hack it. I have been in much worse places in my life. This is day number 13 of my quit and I do not intend to go back to the beginning.
Thankyou for the tough love exhibited on this site. God knows one of the reasons I would not want to CAVE is all the SHIT you guys would give me when I came back for seconds.
