Hey everyone I recently quit the dip the 11th of April. I began chewing only 4 years ago out of boredom and it turned into an addiction quick. About a month ago I started feeling some sore gums and a small tooth ache so I quit right on the spot and seen the dentist a week after quiting. The doc said everything would get better with time. Well I'm 4 weeks in and my mouth is full of sores mainly on my tongue. I get a dry mouth and burning sensation at times and the sores have me really concerned. I've been to the dentist 3 times in 2 weeks just paranoid and he just thinks it's my mouth healing and what not. Anyone have some insights on these issues I'm having? I quit to be a healthier person and my mouth problems and really making me want to start again.

To be painfully blunt, we are quitters, not doctors. I can tell you that starting again is not the answer to your problems, and I can also tell you that these are some of the symptoms (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/symptoms-of-quitting-dip-chew/) and that this is an approximate timeline of symptoms (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/), based on what hundreds of quitters have experienced.
I hope this helps - PM me if you wanna talk or need some support for a quit

So let me get this right, you have sores in your mouth because your body is trying to heal your mouth from 4 years of stuffing countless poisons and chemicals in your lip. And you want to start dipping again? Did you read what you wrote before you hit add reply? That is by far one of the stupidest things I have heard on this site. You had better wake up, let your body heal itself and stay far, far away from anything that has nicotine in it. If your body is reacting like that, then you should develop a hatred for that shit. Its a leaf, blended with poisons, chemicals and drenched in nicotine with a squirt of flavor, just that. I will quit with you any day bud, but dont say stuff like "making me want to start again". That is not the attitude to have. Congrats on a month though, that is huge. Stay strong, stay quit.

I think I am gonna start heroin again because I got really fat and had to get a job in the real world. Dude, this is a site for addicts who will never use nicotine again, join, or get lost with stipid shit.

Man, either you do not understand Nicotine or this site or both. Read intros, HOF, what to expect etc.. read as much as you can here before making bad mistakes with you life. There is a wealth of information that you need to read, man. No one will do it for you, if your looking for someone to quit this shit for you , you are barking up the wrong site. Motivate yourself if you are serious. If you are not serious about quitting then get serious or get lost.

Wow thought this was a sight for guidance not a bunch of people bashing other people. Asked for insight about the sores not your personal beliefs towards my addiction. Everyone copes in different ways and you guys of all people should know that!

You need to read the welcome center and post roll. You have made two posts already and neither one was a promise not to use nicotine today in any form. That is the cornerstone of the program here ...get with it or get out. Its tough love, you are not a special butterfly. I will help you but I will not coddle your ass. Sores in your mouth are normal and you have been to the dentist so stop worrying about it. Anxiety is also a symptom of quitting.

Get in here and quit soldier. Your mouth is fucked up from dipping. Going back to dipping won't help it. See your doctor, but in the meantime get your fucking quit on!

Here's the deal Holby. We simply quit here. Tons of people have had medical issues, gum disease, lost teeth and worse. You are not special in that regard, and it seems you have done everything you can by seeing your dentist more frequently than I see my wife. He is either incompetent or you are not yet dying. Either way, none of us can do anything to help you there except share war stories.
But we don't tolerate addict speak such as if it is cancer I'm gonna start chewing again. Or if I get a clean bill of health I'm gonna start chewing again. Or as soon as my insurance policy goes down, I'm gonna start chewing again.
We know how hard it is to quit, we know every single addict excuse in the book because we have all been there. Don't hedge your bets, don't leave the door cracked open for a cave/return to the can. Follow the recipe layed out here and you will be sucessful. Most of these quitters will help you, but we won't give you a juice cup and trophy just for trying. Jump all the way in, decide to be quit and pledge that quit every day. Then sack up, keep your word and help others keep theirs. Repeat tomorrow.
This recipe works, there are thousands of us as examples. You can do it too, but you have to want it.
