Hey everybody my name is Ryan. I am a police officer and a 5 year volunteer firefighter. I started chewing tobacco lightly when I was about 19 all the guys at the firehouse were doing it and those were the guys i wanted to be like they were in my eyes the real "Man". When i was 21 years old i became a police officer and that was when chewing tobacco got out of hand. I chewed for many reasons peer pressure, addiction, amd to calm my nerves. To me tobacco was my friend when i would be in a burning house or chasing a fleeing felon. I didnt realize how bad it got until i started seeing the damage to my teeth. I knew i couldnt hide it anymore from my family i knew one day that a 2 dollar can would kill me. Out of the dangers i deal this by far scared me the most. Im now on day 3 of a lifetime.

Hey Ryan
You made a good choice quitting, go to your quit group make your promise and introduce yourself November (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30296729/92/#new) .
They are the folks you will hit the 100 day mark with. And keep it up that's how we quit here One Day At A Time.
-
Good deal Ryan! You've come to the right place to quit. I recommend reading other intros along with the success stories.
Stewyhoo is in the November group, a good quitter himself. Just watch his chickens don't attack your dogs! lol
I'll be checkin up on both of ya!. You....we can do this!
-
Welcome Ryan, proud to quit along side you in November. Shot me a private message for my digits to help you through any craves. I know the first few days are rough. Excuse I just went through them myself Day 15 here and never looking back. Let's KTC for good
-
RYANBC, way to go on your decision to quit here with us. As already stated, you are part of the Nov 17 Pre-HOF at the moment, post roll there daily and make your promise. I text my day count daily and receive day counts with/from about 6 others in our group, plus some veterans; PM me with your number if you want to join the list
-
Ryan, Great to have you here quitting with us. This won't be easy but nothing worth doing is. Stick with us, post up daily, and quit one day at a time. That's the name of the game. Nicotine is an addiction, no different than any other addiction out there...and we need to take it that seriously.
I quit with you today, I'll leave my number in a PM.

Post roll my man, it's the cost of admission.

I got hold of RYANBC over the weekend via text. (He would have been day 3, I think) He said he was doing good (rough but good) I reminded him with that to do an introduction. I sent a private message yesterday explaining the importance of roll in quitting. Today I sent a text to him to see how his quit is going. I haven't heard back...

Kind of made my day! I heard from Ryanbc today. He said he's on day 5 and still quit. I hope to encourage him to utilize this site for his quit and encourage him to do role.
Maybe if others can join me in sharing how role has helped in their quit it may help him understand. And other new quitters as well.
In short for me doing role had taken my mind off of using tobacco or any nicotine. It was/ is not an option because of that promise. And with that my mind was free to see and conquer triggers. I'm still new at being a successful quitter. My quit on my own in the past failed me miserably. Some of the cause of my failure was an unclear mind to conquer triggers.

I literally posted this in another's Intro this morning it is what makes this site so powerful:
Advice from someone still very close to the Suck ! - Day 19 here and Welcome to November
1st piece of advice is post roll everyday and make that promise to not only yourself but also your fellow quitters that you will not touch the Nic for the day.
2nd piece of advice is fucking mean it when you make the promise
3rd - reach out to your fellow quitters of Nov and seasoned Vets to grow your connection and passion to quit
Follow steps 1,2 and 3 each and every day wake up and repeat and you will tame the Nic bitch.
Now as to the Fog/haze and hell you are/might going through:
Drink a shit ton of Water like 2+ gallons a day for the next week.
Keep other items on hand - Altoids, Gum, Seeds, Hard Candy, Fake Chew if thats your thing, oh and Water!
Try to stay away from caffeine for a bit as it could cause you headaches
And last Alcohol can make us do dumb things stay away from it for a bit until you get through the major FOG.
So go post roll, send me your digits in a PM and lets tame the bitch together !
as a fellow November quitter proclaimed yesterday - ABQ - Always Be Quittin

So i know in a way this like roll but i want everybody to know that im day 10 tobacco free and i feel great
I wouldnt have to gotten here without the support that is shown here. If i had not discovered this site then i for sure would have continued chewing or tried to quit and relapse.

Good stuff, dude.
Let's up your game, shall we?
1) You only get one intro so stick to the original where your Quit journey can be in one place.
2) You need to learn how to post roll because...
3) It's the daily cost of admission here. Daily. The occasional update is fine... for Facebook. Not KTC.
Real accountability, growth, and security happen in your daily promise to your group that you are Quit and will remain Quit... for today. Tomorrow we do it all again. Don't do it on your own, bro. It's harder than it needs to be and rarely ends well. Cement your freedom and get involved... stay involved.

Posting roll is your # 1. If you feel you need to update people with how you are doing you can use your intro as a journal.
