Title: My Intro

Just wanted to give you an intro about me. I am 35 and been dipping about 20 years. Way too long. I came to get help quitting. I do IT work and its a combo of behind a desk and out in the shop. My company is tobacco free so I had to quit dipping at work when I started here. To hold me over then I would just chew nicotine gum until quitting time. I am ready to quit the nic for good.

At 10:18 last night I spit out my last dip. I cleaned out my truck of all dip bottles, and cans. Done the same in my house. They are all out in the garbage can. Now its nothing but Trident chewing gum and sugar free candy.

Congrats on a great choice, Ccnaguy!!! Lean how and why we post roll. Then do it everyday. As for the cans in the trash, it is a better idea if you dump them in the shitter and flush. Otherwise, you might look like a possum rooting around in your trash at midnight looking for a fix.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Stay strong and stay quit.

I am one week ahead of you and this week is starting much better than the last. Stay cold turkey, no e cigs, nic gum, nic patches. First three days were rough for me, by day 5 I was feeling confident and excited. Today is day 8 and now physical is gone but I am realizing that the mental will prob always be there. I have had the thought today driving past gas stations that I could pop in and snag a can but I just run my tongue along my gums and they feel pretty damn good and smooth and cancer free. Thats what helps me!

congrats on your decision to quit.
the company I work for is tobacco free also. amazing how many people, including myself, are willing to risk their job over this bitch. I have been working there for 5 years and chewed my way through the 12 hour shifts.
not anymore... I'm almost a week into my quit and as long as you keep posting and stay true you quit days will start adding up too

1. Have you started exchanging phone numbers with a few in your quit group? That's very very important

2. How long are you willing to pay roll? 100 days? 200 days? Forever? Roll is absolutely vital and must be a commitment

3. Have you informed all the people who love you that you've made this change? Their support and encouragement is really helpful!

I just finished posting roll. This is day 3 for me. My cravings hit me really hard while I am driving, after meals, and when I am sitting at home in the evening. I found these wood picks at the drug store called Stim-U-dent. They seem to help. I throw one in while driving and after meals. I am also using the plastic flossers and wrapping them with floss that has the light flavor. That seems to help too.

I want to make it to the 72 hour mark just to see how it feels. I havent been that far in a long long long time. So far for me caffeine has not been a trigger. I have always been a heavy caffeine users. Lots and lots of coffee. Just never mixed it with dip. So I am continuing with my coffee drinking no issues. It is stronger though because my body doesnt have nicotine to block it.

Well I have officially moved past the 72 hour mark. From what I have been told and what I have read, the physical cravings should be gone, its just the mental stuff now. Now to fine tune everything. If I have to stop on the way home, stop at a CVS (since they dont sell tobacco). Pay at the pump at gas stations. Keep flossers, mints, and gum in my truck. Plus keep a good stock of the stuff at my desk.

Today, my wife stocked me up on chewing gum of all types of flavors to keep me going.

I have been keeping myself busy. (Nerd moment) As a gift for quitting, I bought myself a domain name and server space to help me learn some programming. So I have been keeping myself busy with that.

Whatever it takes to get your mind off of dip, do it. It does get easier! Stick to the plan, make sure you have other quitters numbers too.

I am working on day five of quitting. I am keeping a steady supply of toothpicks, chewing gum, and flossers. I have been brushing my teeth more. That seems to help with what cravings that do pop up now.

Today, I felt confident to get rid of some stuff. I found a full box of nicotine gum in my desk and just gave it away to a coworker that dips. He took it. I also mentioned that I have quit cold turkey and told him I used a good bit of toothpicks, flossers, and sugar free gum. He said he wants to quit but cant make it past the first day.

I guess you can say I am on the tail end of day 5 here. I moonlight on the weekends learning new tech skills. This weekend it is programming. I just started a course on Udemy and slowly working my way through.

This is when the nic starts whispering to me. It starts after dinner and gets louder and louder until I go to bed. I do what works. I take a step back, grab a toothpick, and walk outside.
