Title: Today is the day
Post by: Tbreezy on September 03, 2014, 09:04:00 PM
Today is the day I stop putting this garbage in my mouth. For the past 7 years it have chewed at a minimum once a day.

For the past two years I have said I am going to quit and never followed through. I have been married for over a year now and I want to spend as much time with my family as I can for as long as I can and I know this needs to stop now for me to do that.

I have told myself that I can do this without help and it has never worked. This is the first time I have reached out to a community for help. I plan for it to work this time. I will do whatever needs to happen this time around. I am done with it. Any help/words of wisdom appreciated

Stay motivated. When you get cravings just imagine weakness is leaving your body. Embrace it. Don't give up! Plenty of help here

Congrats on a great choice. Two days is HUGE. My advice? Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. We'll deal with them when they get here. ALL you need to focus on is today...right now...this 5 minutes. Because that's all that matters.

Don't worry about the past...what's done is done. Fuck it. Don't worry about the future...it ain't here yet. Fuck it. Quitting is done one day, one hour, one minute at a time. Craves last about 5 minutes...unfortunately, they happen EVERY 5 minutes early on...but they will pass. Come up with strategies to fight craves. I suggest drinking tons of water, push-ups, take a walk, pop on this site and click around in the Quit Groups and realize every name you see there was once where you are now. YOU CAN DO THIS!

The best way to make friends is to post your name on December's roll call. It's our way of promising each other that we are nicotine free for 24 hours. Read up on it at the welcome center.

Tbreezy,

You're in good company here at KTC. Knowledge is power so read EVERYTHING  reach out to EVERYONE. We all have different stories  come from different backgrounds but at the end of the day we're really all the same battling the same demons that come with this stupid addiction. Why did we even start in the first place, right? Well, we're here now so lets go to war against this enemy together. Welcome to the family...
