Hello everyone newbies (me) and veterans alike. I've set my quit day for the 1/1/13. I'm 44 years old and have chewed for 25 years, quitting several times in between. This time for good. My age and mortality is finally setting in. I'm disciplined in every facet of my life except this damn habit. I'm tired of living with the guilt. I'm sure we'll get to know one another better in the future. In the meantime I'm going to get my game face on and get my head right before entering this rough and hellish ride. Thanks in advance!

WHATS WRONG WITH TODAY. YOU TOOK THE TIME TO COME ON HERE AND POST SAYING YOUR GOING TO QUIT. YOU COULD HAVE JUST AS WELL POSTED A DAY ONE IN THE ROLL. WE ALL HAVE BEEN THERE SAME AS YOU. THERE MAY NOT BE A 1-1-13. IF YOU QUIT NOW THEN IF NO TOMORROW COMES AT LEAST YOU WENT OUT A QUITER. SO SPIT IT OUT THROW IT AWAY AND JOIN UP FOR THE FIRST DAY OF THE BEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE.

ob, please tell me why 1/1/13 will be easier than right now.
Let me give you a hint, it won't be. That, I can promise. Seen it too many times over the years.
Might as well get started, there is a fresh new group waiting for your leadership.
RT - 1782 days clean and counting.

How many times have you set a quit date before? No matter how great your plan is, or how great your reasoning, tomorrow never comes. Or it will, and something will happen and you will convince yourself "now is not the time."
Its a lie.
Quit now. Dont wait. How do you know if the next chew you put in is the chew that gives you cancer? Is it worth the risk? Why wait til 1/1/13? If you quit today, you give yourself the greatest gift you could ever hope for - FREEDOM. By 1/1/13, nicotine will be essentially out of your system and you will be nearly clear of the initial fog and suck of quitting.
I promise you this, you will NEVER regret quitting. But, if you wait until 1/1/13, you probably will never quit.
Its really as simple as this - go to April 2013 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=7622) and put you name on roll. That is a promise not to use. You are a man of your word? That is almost all you need to quit. The rest?
Guts. Fortitude. Desire. It takes a lot of stones to keep your word, and I promise you it will suck until doesn't. Here on day 701, I can tell you it is woorth every bit of rage, tears, fog, sleeplessness, and every other ailment we go through to break the chains.
Arent you tired of planning your every move around your addiction? Tired of missing out on moments cause you were stuffing your face? tired of worrying about every sore throat, mouth sore, swollen taste bud, etc?
Dont wait. quit now. tomorrow NEVER comes.

Good for you choosing to quit! I quit on January 1 every year for 38 years including 1/1/12. Most of those quits lasted from a few hours to a few days. Don't get caught in the trap dump your stash and quit now! On April 1, (268 days ago) I dumped mine and threw my planned quit date out the window and moved it up 11 days. Today is the easiest day to quit! I've made that decision to quit every morning, made a promise to total strangers and kept my promise. I challenge you to put it to the test, not 1/1 but now! One other thing using nicotine isn't a "damn habit" it is a an addiction and you are and always will be a fucking addict!!!! Join the crowd. Pm me if you need anything.

I am going to agree with the rest of these guys. go figure
Quit with us today, and on 1/1/13 you can quit with us for the 7th time.
Take a look thru these introductions, they are filled with good intentions of guys who are going to quit tomorrow and never make it back.
These pages are filled with planned quits that never happened.
If you are man enough to quit on the first you are man enough to do it now!

Plus a planned quit is a bad way to start a quit! It shows weakness...There is no room for weakness in a quit. You are an ADDICT.. Here is an idea..Just hear me out...Dump you shit. Clean out everything that has to do with tobacco or nicotine. Post roll and make your promise. Use whatever motivation you need, but quit for yourself. Trust me you think you need that shit for the holidays, you don't..Dump the shit now and by 01/01/2013 you will feel like me FUCKING WONDERFUL. Its not hard and I will quit with you!! Let's do this!!!

I read all your post yesterday about 4:30 before leaving for a Christmas party so I didn't have time to reply. The problem with all of your post was that there was nothing that I could argue or rationalize. What was wrong is that you are all right and that is why signed on to this, for the tough love, so to speak.
On 12/24/2012 at 4:36pm I started my quit. And as I write this, I am having Monster cravings. But I knew I would. Thanks guys (I think). Merry Christmas!

Quit is a decision. It is a decision that must be made over and over again until the quit becomes your new habit. Early on you are going to have to make the decision to stay quit almost every few minutes. The tough love here can help, the accountability can help keep you in the right frame of mind but it still has to be you that keeps making the decision to stay quit...moving up your quit shows the strength you will need. Love this!
