Title: The Great New Years Promise
Post by: TGP9494 on December 31, 2015, 01:50:00 PM
Hey all, ive been chewing for 15 years. I have stopped chewing in the past for well over 6 months but always backslide back to the crap. I joined today to help me with accountability. I have tried to quit in the past to make wife/family happy for various reason but always seem to slide back. Alcohol always seems to be the problem. Have a beer with the guys somebody has a chew and next thing you know you go buy another can.

I've tried the fake Grinds, I thought having something in my lip would be nice but it seems to make the urge for the real thing even stronger.
Appreciate any suggestions. Im tired of going backwards and scared to death about one day getting cancer.

Thanks
Troy

Troy, you want help with accountability? Congratulations, you came to exactly the right place!

Step one, flush any cans of tobacco you have now.

Next, go to the April 2016 quit group and post roll, your promise to use no nicotine for 24 hours. We do this every morning first thing. It is the basis for accountability: you are a man of your word, and on roll... you are quit. Link: topic/11465559/39/ (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/11465559/39/)

Exchange digits with these quitters, get to know them. A text asking for support or providing some will save your quit.

Drink lots of water, exercise, read this site. Perhaps jerky or hard candy or seeds to fill the oral void for a while... ask your group for ideas.

Be careful tonight and around alcohol for a while... staying quit with temptation and a buzz is tricky as you know.
