A bit about myself and struggles. I quit Sunday night September 18th at about 9 pm. I have chewed about 35 years and I am only 42. Day 1 was fine, however that nights sleep was horrible. Anxiety terribly bad, hallucinated and heat flashes. Day 2 was fine until about 8 pm that night. Went to my happy place , while everyone was going to bed I go watch some sports. Alone time at last but watching baseball and really wanting my night cap. Day 3 more of a struggle. My after lunch craving was bad, after supper not much better. Planning on a bad night I decided to start sharing. Posted on Bnola introduction thinking it was a group of people who quit on same day as me. I did it all wrong and someone snipped at me for jacking his intro. Thank goodness I did not see it tell morning when I was fresh and strong again. Would not of helped my situation last night. I was needing support. Appologiesed today and Bnola seem cool and probably just as lost and confused as me. Anyway back to last night. Can not go to my man cave as that was too hard the night before. Bad stomach pain last night not sure if it is related to quitting or not. Other than that the night ended pretty well. Day 4 has started out good. Now to share how I am doing it and some of the surprises I have found. Tried the niccerette , not a fan but have been useing 2 to 3 pieces a day. Not sure if it is helping or not. Brought to my attention about it still be nicotine , its GONE. Kind of bloats you. Lots of sunflower seeds and planning on more gum and hard candies tomorrow. Bought some wintergreen Oregon mint, reminds me of Hawkins, again not a fan but it did help me through last night watching the baseball game. Anyone have a better product? Something more like Skoal. One thing I am really surprised about is I was for sure the hardest dip to go without was going to be my morning after coffee dip but this time has not bothered me much at all. Sorry kind of choppy but doing it from a phone is not the best idea. Looking for help and looking to help anyway I can. I'm strong, I am going to this for me. I'm done with this crap however I want one so bad right now. The mind games are the worst.

Deskbum make sure to post role in December. The price of admission is posting roll, everyday. Also the prerequisite for posting roll is that you aren't doing nicotine in any form. Gum, patches, ecigs etc. You can't post roll until you're going it cold turkey.
Post roll every day and early in the day. WUPP (Wake Up Piss Post) is our motto. It's a promise to the group and yourself that youÂ’re not going to use nicotine, not a report on how you did at the end of the day. The idea is that as you go through the day and have an urge to dip youÂ’ll remember that you made a promise to your brothers that you wouldnÂ’t dip today.
Click on the following link for a video on posting roll. It helped me out. PC How to post roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1003072/1/#new)
Don't worry about accidentally posting on someone else's intro, it happens all the time. BNola will look back and laugh at it. One of the best intros I've read here is this one: NOLAQ (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1005666/12/) count how many times a newbie wonders in and post an intro on NOLAQ's intro. It'll have you rolling in the floor! Not to mention, this is also one of the most inspiring intros on KTC.

Deskbum you want help? Like Mike said it's simple post roll let's get you some help, 35 years slavery you gonna need it. 38 years myself I quit with you!

The video was a great help. I edited my first try, and still a little rough but I have a better understanding for tomorrow. I been eating like a horse. Does that ever stop? I will be 300lbs by Christmas..

I gained 15 pounds. But hey, it's better than going and buying a can. Do whatever it takes in the beginning. You can lose weight, you can't regrow a jawbone. ;) Although 1 of the guys in our July quit group lost 20 pounds. He hit the gym and the track hard instead of hitting the food like I did.
Posting will be a breeze before you know it. But posting in a new group like December will be a challenge for a while. A lot of new people, going through the fog trying to figure it out too. But really, the only way you can screw up roll is to not be on it! Somebody will fix it, so don't worry about it.
Proud to be quit with you brother! Hang in there, it'll suck for a while, until it doesn't. But you can do this!
-
Great decision to quit, you will never regret it EVER!
-
Welcome bum....to the SUCK.... your life is not gonna be the same for the next few days. Learn to hate nicotine for what it's about to do to your mind. Even AFTER the physical withdrawal, you'll face months of the mental BS nicotine does to your primitive (addict) brain. But there's good news. Craves will NOT kill you if you don't give in to them. So it'll just be massively crappy, but you won't die.
Get to know your fellow quitters. They can help you get through the suck. Welcome again brother!
-
great decision......early in your quit along with the suck your brain also has feelings of satisfaction because it knows you are doing the right thing....make sure you take notice of those instances and focus on them as long as you can....it helped me a lot......fuck the suck it is strong enough you don't need to focus on that.....focus on freedom from that nic shit....lets say that when everyone starts their quit it is 80% suck and 20% " i am doing the right thing"....simply focus on the "i am doing the right thing" and you can flip those percentages........it is completely worth it and everybody on this site can help......the choice is yours and that is the Gods honest truth....you are in complete control and you can do this

It is weird how your mind works. I can sit here and list 10 things that I hate about chew, you know like how disgusting it is, health risk, nasty spitters and even look at pictures of people who lost their lips. Yet after all that I sill can say right away how bad I would like one. I think that is where I am at on day 5 here. Not so much nic craving but just having that dip in my cheek. Been using some Oregon mint fake dip and that helps. Not a fan of the brand so searching here locally to see what places sell. Going to check Walmart tonight for their flavor.

Just ordered a couple cans off here again. Just wish I knew which one favored skoal fine cut. Not sure why it would be so hard to replicate but it really sounds like nobody has figured it out yet. I have the Oregon mint wintergreen, not impressed. I ordered some smoky mountain, guess I will give it a shot.

I dipped cope long cut and snuff for 25 years. when I quit I used smokey mountain mint flavored. back in my using days I couldn't stand anything but that cope flavor. the mint to me held a better flavor longer than the wintergreen or the straight.... use what u can of the fake stuff to keep.u off of the real deal. quit on.

At around 9 pm tonight, it will be my first full week with no Chew.. Starting to think this fake crap is just as bad on you.

First full week! That's awesome man. Keep racking up those days you can do this. I dipped for 36 years and tried to quit hundreds of times. This is my 1st time to quit with support and I can tell you, it's been a completely different quit this time. It's all about getting to know the people here. The more you get connected here the more you will begin to feel like caving is not an option when those craves come.
I never used the fake stuff but most everyone who does said they relied pretty heavily on it in the beginning but as time went on they just got to where they didn't need it anymore.
Keep up the good work deskbum it may not seem like it now, but there are better days ahead. You can do this!

On day 10, 11 nights. Yesterday was a little rough but today has been ok. Really been craving and eating sweets. Going to start working on that a little more each day as I am already up 5 lbs. I am short and small frame so 5 lbs is a pretty big deal.. I like using seeds the best but man your mouth gets so tore up. Out of the fake stuff I have tried Oregon mint wintergreen and pouches, do not like either one. Smokey Mountain wintergreen is what I have been using the most. Smell is close, texture looks close but packs in the lip very good. As far as flavor, well its not the really close but best I have found so far. Now if I was a cope dipper I would think the black can of smokey mtn would have to be pretty darn close. Walmarts seem to car smokey mtn line. Still looking to try some better ones, any suggestions?

Smokey Mtn has loads of flavors. The 'straight' is the closest ive found to grizz straight (what I chewed); the 'classic' seems to be similar to cope.

Congratulations on one week, that is bad ass! :)
Don't worry about the substitutes for now. Use anything instead of nicotine - it is way easier to quit fake dip than the real thing. ;)

Getting through the 2nd full weekend. Watching football Friday night, some Saturday and now today has been making it harder. However I am not quitting fb too. lol Getting burned out on the fake stuff right now, because I think I been abusing during the games. Plan on using mostly seed today. Funny thing is seeds might be better for you but the its kind of a nasty habit itself. The whole spitter thing and spilling seeds. I have the cravings but really never any thought going back to dipping. I know it is one day at a time but for any newbies out there, in my opinion once you quit for yourself it is easier than you think. Its got to be that you are really ready. Everyone is different but one you are ready spend some time on this site and just do it.

Midway through my 3rd week is going good. Using the seeds a little heavier than the smokey mtn. More so because I am creating a craving for seeds. Fake dip is just a filler, not creating any cravings for it.

Great job- keep your head on a swivel, keep watching for tricks-- and smacking them down in order to log another victory. Each defeated crave is one lesson taught to the addiction inside--- "nope, that won't work on me anymore". Whatever it takes to keep building your track record, do it! I think it's critical to build a network of supporters too- by now, there are guys i just can't imagine betraying because we've been quitting together so long. That really is my core motivation besides the knowledge of how evil this stuff really is to our brains.
Keep the good quit building, and keep logging it here in intros- that helps others and helps you too by creating a record of your victories!

Today is the 3rd weekend. Getting easier but not looking for the hard task of hunting season. That will be my next really hard test. I've made it through a lot of test so far so I know I can make it.

Looks like you passed that test. Well done! :)
It seems we have a lot of hunters and baseball players on this site. And probably some computer programmers like me. ;)
If you have a trigger that you are struggling with ask here and chances are someone has beaten it before.
I quit with you today! Stranger999 - day 404

Wow, I am on day 26 or 27 nights, however you want to look at it and last night seemed like one of the hardest nights. I think it was me getting caught up in watching the Broncos game and catching some of the baseball game when the fb game had breaks. Thank goodness for sunflower seeds.. Just goes to show you everyone that you can not let your guard down,,,,,,EVER!!!!!!!! 1 month is going to be a huge milestone for me but I have got to make it through today first (and I am going too). 1hr, 1 day, 1 week has never felt so good.

Coming up on 40 days. Still about twice a day where I need to have seeds or smoky mtn around on most days. Gum just does not work for me. My metabolism must be in a funk cause I am usually hungry and still putting on weight. Around 10 lbs.... I have liked and used this site almost everyday in the first month. Reading stories has really helped, took me awhile to understand role but than was very good at it "for awhile" . This last week role has been more of a burden than helpful. I do understand the reason behind it, but wow, people can send some pretty nasty emails, so be ready for them if you miss. Usually from people not even in your group. However some have sent some very helpful ones also and did way more than the negative ones on building accountability. That is the whole reason for role is that you are giving your word to a bunch of strangers that you will not cave today. Some of these stories have good storylines with people becoming very good friends and that is where the accountability comes into play. I also have used some social network to hold me accountable and feel more obligated to those people because there family and friends not strangers. Everyone responds differently to criticism, as far as quit tips what works for some does not always work for all, this site does help but the most important thing for me to quitting is that I did it on my own terms. I did not quit for anyone but myself, the wife and kids were the very next and large bonus for quitting but I was ready to do it. I do plan on continuing using this site, posting role and holding myself and group accountable of staying quit. Its proven and it works...
This is just my story, and how I am feeling today of my quit. Sometime it is ok to be a quitter... lol
