I have been dipping for 15 years. I was a habit dipper. Meaning I really only wanted it at the times I had associated with dipping like mowing the yard or watching tv by myself before I went to bed. I was never one to need it during the day or ever felt an urge. I started in college because a lot of my friends did it. I never would have thought 15 years later it would still be part of my life.
I quit 21 days ago but have found this weekend to be my biggest challenge. My family is out of town and would be very easy to start up again. I am determined to stop for myself but also for my wife and kids. They are my inspiration for stopping. Hoping this website will help encourage me to keep away from the can.

You have an addiction, bro. A habit is biting your fingernails. You don't get physical withdrawals when you quit and long for the days of biting your nails.
You need to start posting roll call daily. Roll call is where you give your word as a man that you will not use nicotine for the next 24 hours. Then you wake up the next day and make that same promise again. The hardest part is over for you, but there's still plenty of sucky days ahead. Stay here and lean on us and we can help with the bad days to come.
You will be in the September 2014 Quit Group because that is when you will hit 100 days of quit - the month of September. Here is the link to your quit group. Head on over and post your promise to be nic free today and introduce yourself to them. topic/10291235/173/?x=35#new (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/10291235/173/?x=35#new)
Yell if you have any questions.

You can do this man.
The Ktc can be the biggest, baddest weapon in your quit arsenal...but you have to point and pull the trigger. In other words, we'll be there for ya but you have to do this for yourself. Ain't nobody else out there that can do it for you.
Now, we don't hope or try around here. We quit. Period. We quit for right now. We learned from past mistakes, and we plan for the future. But we quit right the fuck now. We post roll call which is our promise to stay quit today. It's our battle cry and cry for help.
Now, specifically for you, day 21 is rough because you are entering. (What's referred to as) a funk. This one is because the adrenaline of your initial quit is starting to run out. Your brain wants normalcy (ie it thinks you're not serious about quitting). It's normal, and it requires a small dose of just concentrating on the now. Don't worry about whether we can help you. Post up...read up. Do anything you can to stay quit right now.
The rest will come.
You can do this because I am.

This is the perfect place for you max. Give us your word daily then keep it. Pretty simple!
We'll help you build your quit arsenal all you gotta do is post roll daily and keep your word.
This place works you have to buy in!

Max, please read or re-read all of the above. It may seem strange, especially since you did the first 3 weeks yourself that total strangers are reaching out and sending phone numbers, but that is how we do it here. Jump in, post roll, and make some quit friends.
-
1 n done or are you for real? My money is on you finger banging a can right now.
-
If you are serious about continuing your quit then you need to post roll. That is the cornerstone of this website!
-
Glad to see you in roll today. I quit with you and the KTC today as well.

maxpowers has shown himself to be NOT WORTHY of the title Sultan....
He hasn't posted roll in more than a week...therefore he is either:
1. Dead
2. In a coma
3. Has caved, unfortunately, because he failed to live up to the Sultan's creed.

Thanks for the update, albeit a disappointing one! Make your quit stronger by taking a note from this guy. He's not worthy, but you are my friend.
