This is my first time posting on this forum; I hope this is the right venue for my introduction...
I found this group after I did a google search "Help me quit chewing tobacco". Didn't know what to do, but I knew I needed to do something.
I Dipped for almost ten years...Grizzly green was my flave... I live in the Northwest; I started when I got on as an electrical apprentice, at an oil refinery in the Puget Sound area of WA. No smoking anywhere on-site, for obvious reasons, so everyone had a dip in. Even the women. It became such a part of me, such a norm, I couldn't work outside for 5 min without a dip in. Working outdoors was, and still Is the hardest for me. I do remodeling and construction, so I'm outside at least 50% of the time. Establishing new habits has been hard; Sunflower seeds and gum can only do so much...
I tried to quit a handful of times over the last few years, but couldn't shake it. Dipped in secret for the past year or so, just to avoid the guilt and concern from my loved ones.
I have been nicotine free since July 3rd, 2016. It was that day that the woman I am going to marry found a can I had been hiding. I had been keeping it a secret for awhile...months...maybe a year...hard to say exactly how long with the cycle of TRYING to quit. 'ninja'
Now, I didn't quit for just a girl, I quit for three girls. I had been dealt a shitty hand in past relationships, and this girl is the one who loves me AND MY TWO DAUGHTERS like nobody ever has! The one who taught me how to love again; that life was worth living to its fullest! I made the decision to quit for my family, and longevity is my motivation.
It has been about 4 month now, and the cravings are still there occasionally, especially when it's nearby. I hope to learn this forum better, and to revel commiserate with fellow quitters! 'help'

Well it's great to want to quit for your loved ones but it's got to be for yourself and they will reap the benefits of your quit. Ok glad you've made it as far as you have by yourself, but for advice and accountability the price is posting roll! Go to the welcome center and learn how to post roll. We will all be waiting. The balls in your court. I quit with you today.

Study the elephant.
Do what elephant does.
Do what elephant says.
Follow elephant.
Enjoy freedom and your girls like elephant does.
Post roll.
Quit just for you.
If the girls begged you to chew...say no.
I Quit with you today.

I had to read your name 3 times before I read it correctly. You shouldn't get an old man excited in the morning!

Welcome Clint! Read all you can here. Make a network. You're fortunate in hat there are a few really strong PNW-based quitters here- maybe you can meet some in person. That makes a huge difference in creating a strong quit. Regardless, get used to posting every day in your class, and get active here in intros so folks can get to know you some! Bet you'll find lots of what you've been through here in the intros! Glad you're quitting with us. And Thumblewort!

Welcome to KTC Clint. Looking for your roll post this morning. Its what we do. Everyday.
There will be a lot of quitters gathered around the Dumpster Fire in October to support you.
If you post roll EVERYDAY.

Hey Big Clint! You may have missed the first 100 with this group - but no reason you cannot commit to quit to 200 days with us! Join the Dumpster Fire and keep posting your promise daily. From what our brothers and sister's in earlier quits tell us, there are still PLENTY of bumps along the road for us. No reason to do this alone anymore, my friend.
