Hey all. Let me start off with an introduction and some back ground. I am a young guy, only 19 years old. I've decided to quit this habit after only about 3-4 years of dipping. After countless arguments with my father about me quitting, my little sister begging me, and even my cousin who is in medical school show me pictures and ask me to quit because of what he has seen it do to his patients, i figured now is the time. I need to quit before it is too late. I'm still young and have full life to live, why would I want to live with this addiction. I am in the Marine Corps reserves. That one time a month seems to be unbearably hard to get by without dipping. It seems as if everyone there either has a dip in or a cigarette in their hand. I've joined today to start a new chapter, a healthier, happier chapter in my life. Tomorrow is the day I will dip no longer. I have already had a couple of dips this morning, tomorrow is a fresh start!

This site can help you kick your nicotine addiction (not a habit) to the curb. We don't use words like try or hope as they are just another excuse for our addictive brains to tell us another lie. There are no short cuts, but here are some links that will help you navigate this site.
This a NO NICOTINE site. End of discussion. Why this Site Works (http://www.killthecan.org/about/why.asp)
Best thing to do is get familiar with this site and start building your quit defense.
Highly recommend you go here: Welcome Center (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13), Getting Acclimated (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=7614), What to Expect (http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/what.asp) Top Ten List (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=8382)
Your quit Decision (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=1791&view=findpost&p=4771433) MUST be 100% about you. Anything short of that sets you up for failure by allowing your addict brain to blame a given situation as reason for you to go back to the can. Quitting out of fear, based on a medical issue, will fade as soon as the doctor or dentist gives you a clean bill of health.
Post Roll every day or communicate with someone and have them post via text, email or call. Get as many number of your group as you can and use them frequently. Keep in touch with your quit brothers. Send them a PM, text or call every few days just to keep an open line of communication. Give them your email address. Make it IMPOSSIBLE for you to go a day without several people contacting you all day if you don't post roll.
You want another layer of accountability? Come post in my room every morning after you post roll in yours April 2012 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=5688&st=0)
Get on the site and read - Need to CHAT (http://chat.killthecan.org/)
Feeling weak- like you can't quit? Print this out contract to cave (http://www.killthecan.org/facts/contract.asp) and tell everyone you love the can means more to you than they do
Most important Post roll every damn day - like your life depends on it-
keep your word - you posted today - do it daily, keep that promise and then repeat
-
Welcome to KTC, welcome to taking your life back one day at a time. It is very important to note that you have to do it daily, hell some days hourly.
Being a retired Marine myself I certainly understand the term "everyone else seems to do it too". I myself was one of those idiots. My hope for you is that you have the testicular fortitude to beat this addiction now. I could only hope to have been that damned intelligent when I was 19, instead back then I was so tough that I could whoop anything and didn't need to listen to others as they didn't know what was best for me, hell they weren't me. Be smarter than I was and beat this now, don't cave only to face this shit for years.
Learn how to post roll: How to Post Roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50)
Post Roll here: Pre HOF April 2014 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=9259)
Read everything that yo0u can on here. Take it in as your time allows. The minimum price of admission on here is to post roll daily, that is your pledge or promise to be quit for that day. Take that seriously as this is a promise.
Quit like a beast every day and own this; it is not easy but if your life is worth having then you will learn to fight through it.
Exchange phone numbers with other quitters, use your buddy Jake to help; if I can do this you can do this too!
P.S. The underlined words above are links to locations on this forum.

Hey Man, Army Reserves here, last drill was my 1st drill quit, I thought it was going to be about impossible too, but it went great. I made it clear to my friends that still use that I Quit, please don't offer me any nicotine, and if I ask for it, you can only give it to me after kicking me in the balls as hard as you can. They were all totally supportive, and looking forward to kicking me in the nuts.
I made it without caving and without getting kicked in the nuts. 'no' Follow the program here and you will succeed on a daily basis!

Thanks so far everyone! I can already see how supportive everyone here is! It's already making this quit seem much easier than if I were on my own!
