Hi there everybody. My name is Ben and I am trying to quit. I am 19 years old and have been dipping since I was about 17. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. Everybody I grew up around did it. So like a lot of my buddies I started dipping and just couldn't get enough of it. I thought it made me look more tough and rough. As I stopped caring about how badass I looked toward the end of high school I still had the habit of dipping. I've tried to quit before but had absolutely no luck. And when I got bored or stressed I would always run back. Currently now I am working up in North Dakota in the oil fields. I'm around dipping and smoking all day long. It's just apart of what a lot of guys do up here in this industry. I really want to quit for my future. I'm planning on going to college here this next year and perusing a career in the oil industry. But I don't want to be a dad or husband who dips and endangers my health and appearance for my nasty habit. I'd also really hate to end up with any kind of cancer as it is just an awful thing to see someone go through as their life is never the same. It's definitely gonna be a hard road to beat but I want to kick it while I'm still young. My question is what's the best things to do to keep your mind and body from wanting a dip? Is it getting chewing gum, toothpicks, eating small snacks, or even nicotine gum? I'm really about to struggle through hell to get to a better place. Any help and advice would be awesome! Thank you

Morning Ben. First things first, we don't try. Get rid of that mindset. We do. If you want to make this commitment, do it. Don't try it. You try asparagus. You try on a shirt. You don't try to give up this shit. You just simply do it.
With that being said, the first thing you should do is head on over and post roll. You will be in the October 14 quit group with the likes of myself. That daily roll call is your commitment to yourself and the rest of us that you will remain nicotine free for THAT DAY. Then come back every day afterward and make the same promise. I've only been here for 5 days, so you can count on more seasoned veterans jumping in here and providing more details.
I do need to say one thing though. I just witnessed my first cave and it was an 18 year old kid. He couldn't hack it after a few days. Gave up. But the way he did it, all dramatic and such, left a bad taste in my mouth for younger folks like yourself and your ability to follow through with your promise. Ben, please, prove me wrong. I would love nothing more than for you to give me a big shit sandwich to eat. I'll shoot you a PM. Should see something in your inbox.

I spent approximately $30,000 from 1998 to March 2014 on Skoal products. I'd be debt free other than a mortgage right now with that money. Do this now and live your life to the fullest.

Ben, I've got to hand it to you ... pretty damn smart at your age. No offense at all meant, it's just that I spent 33 years with nicotine in my body, and like my brother above ... spent ten's of thousands on poison. Not too fucking smart, but I'm building my tool chest every day to get smarter ... and KTC is the way to do just that for you!

You've been given really good advice. One comment, definitely no to the nicotine gum! That's just switching delivery method. Prove the odd makers wrong, be a successful young quitter.
