Hello all,

I started this addiction almost six years ago. In that time I've only tried to quit once, it lasted a month before i fell victim to the "only one" trap, something I never plan on doing again.

I am currently 20 minutes into day 4 without smokeless tobacco, and to be honest; I am feeling super optimistic and extremely excited to start my life without dip. :D

Since I have absolutely nothing to do at 1 am I guess I'll write more and give you all some background about me. My name is Mike, I am 21 and will be graduating college in approximately 54 days (not that I'm counting or anything 'winker'). I plan on starting a career in law enforcement and am currently in the hiring process for a few local departments here in Colorado, so if there are any LEO's on here I'd love to get some advice from ya'll.

I started using chewing tobacco in the summer between my sophomore and junior year of high school while working at a local grocery store, a co-worker gave me my first dip (cope pouches) while collecting shopping carts one night. My addiction (as I assume most of yours) started slowly with an occasional dip maybe once every other day or only once while at work, twice a day, etc. but before I knew it I was addicted.

Four days ago I made the decision to quit; I didn't make this decision to appease my friends or family; I made this decision for myself, for my future, for my health, and it is a decision that I will stick with through the ups and downs. This is my promise to myself to stay tobacco free for the rest of my hopefully long life.

Thank you for reading my novel, I look forward to meeting you all and quitting with you.

Nice intro. You have a good attitude about this. My advice: Make sure you post roll with Your group EVERY DAMN DAY. If you go all-in with KTC you will succeed. I quit with you today.

Welcome Mike in Colorado. Great job posting roll and you probably will have other nights that you you have nothing better to do so continue tracking your quit here in your intro.

Welcome to the group, Good intro and you seem to have a great mindset heading in to this challenge... Some things to remember though to better help you prepare:

If you have nothing else better to do at 1AM or anytime of the day, the best thing to do is just head on over here. Free time in the early stages of the quit makes the mind wander. Just get on here, read and get to know your fellow quitters, we will help you.

I am not in law enforcement, but I have friends who are... and they all dip. I don't know if it is the stress of the job or the down time but it is best go ahead and come up with a solid plan now. What will you do when you have a trigger or everyone around you has a lip in? It's best to play it out now before it's put right in front of you.

Continue to post roll every single day, that's the price of admission to be on this site, Reach out, PM me if you ever need someone to talk to you.

You CAN do this, we do it everyday!

Welcome to the June group. Reach out to some people and exchange numbers so you have someone to call/text when you get a bad craving, or even to post roll for you if you find yourself tied up somehow and unable to do so.

Congrats on 4 days. Remember that we quit Every Damn Day. Tomorrow is a new quit and so is the day after that. The positive is that you're not alone in this struggle.

Hi MCO. No better time to quit than now and especially prior to a new job. Good luck with the LEO position. PM if I can help with the quit or LE job.

Welcome!!! I wish I had quit at your age!! You must post roll every damn day, keep your promise not to use for that day, then repeat. Take it one day at a time! Read everything you can on the site, reach out to your June quit group, and try to hit the chat room. This is a pivotal moment in your life.....stay on the right path!

I don't think you need to be a LEO to offer great advice on this website. When it comes to nicotine and dip, we're all the same. We're all addicts. And the more I read on this site, the less special and unique I feel that my addiction is. So, it doesn't matter what you do, you'll fit in just nicely.

For starters, you hit the nail on the head regarding your reason for quit. Many will come here quitting for their children, or spouses, or because they don't want others to think less of them. These people fail. When you come here and quit for yourself, first and foremost, then you've jumped in head first. Get your name on the roll call and put it there every damn day. You aren't accountable to just yourself anymore. Quit hard brother.

Some of this sites best leaders (quitters) are in law enforcement. Whatever you do, throw everything you've got at it. You are in the right place. Congratulations on a great decision.

Today was Day 5 without nic for me. This was also the easiest day I've had so far but I did face a challenge that I'm proud to say I overcame; my first trip back to my old store. I visited the c-store that I've bought dip from for the past three years, when I got to the register the clerk reached for the cope and I told him I quit. I got to say when I walked out that door I felt so free. Day 5 is coming to an end and I'm feeling extremely optimistic, I have a big interview tomorrow for my dream job and I'm ready to kick some ass.

Keep moving forward

Welcome, mco. Congrats on deciding to quit. Spend as much time on the site as you can. It really helps to read about what everyone else is going thru. If you need anything, we're here for you. Good luck with the interview.

Hey... good job at the store. Looks like you got a good thing going. Tomorrow is your Day 6 and the fog will hopefully be gone (mine lifted about day 5), that will be just in time for you to kill that interview. Good luck man. If you need anything just give me a holler.

Welcome aboard brother. I myself am also 21 years old, and I can guarantee you that you will see many older quitters on here say "I wish I had quit when I was your age, it would've saved me a lot of (time/money/pain/worry/cancer)." The best thing you can do for yourself is taking it one day at a time. Don't think about tomorrow until tomorrow gets here, you are quitting for today. We do have a great opportunity because we are so young yet, so let's take advantage of it and stay quit. It's worth every day of freedom.

MCO, how did the interview go?

mb289

The interview went well (at least I thought), unfortunately they decided that I wasn't "assertive enough" and that I didn't have the experience they were looking for. They did say that my answers were spot on and that if I could work on my assertiveness and get some more experience (i.e. go through the academy on my own dime) that they would love for me to re-apply next opening they have.

Right after being given the bad news, I headed to my truck and checked my email, I had an email from another department I had applied to stating that they weren't going to move me forward in their process either, but that I was "Still in the process" and that if any of the other applicants drop out or they decide that they have more positions they need filled that they would contact me.

Don't let it get you down Mike. Early in your quit you are vulnerable to caving unless you keep upbeat. I've learned that one of my reasons for going back to the can was a self defeated attitude. Strong KTC relationships are critical. I'm a pm away if you need anything. Learn from these experiences and you'll be out there in no time.

Thank you both, I'm no where close to giving up on this. I'm gonna fight like hell to get the job I want, just like I'm doing with my quit. There were be plenty more opportunities for me in the future and this is by no means my only shot at making it into LE. mb289 thanks for the PM and the advice, I just sent you one back. I just wanted to share a quote with anyone who reads my intro. This quote has helped me in my life and maybe it can help you with yours.

“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent, but if we can come to terms with this indifference, then our existence as a species can have genuine meaning. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.”

Hey Orlando (I get it now)
Here's another one for you.

Deep Thought:

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I
look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of
their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I
drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry
about my liver."

Since I haven't posted in here for a while I figure I'll give anyone who reads this a little update on my quit. First and foremost, I would like to thank all those who have helped me in my quit, whether it was sending me a morning text supporting my quit, giving me advice on life or starting my career, or just spending some time with me in chat, Thank You. I'm getting close to the three week mark now and starting to feel close to normal. My cravings are becoming fewer and further between and are easier to brush aside. I've been dealing with some minor medical issues (nothing to worry about) that have been causing me to be more irritable than normal, which is making it difficult on those close to me. This site is a blessing, I know I wouldn't be this far along without drinking the kool-aid. I'm glad I made the decision to use the resources this site offers 19 days ago.

I'm Quitting Like Fuck with all of you today.

This site is a blessing, I know I wouldn't be this far along without drinking the kool-aid. I'm glad I made the decision to use the resources this site offers 19 days ago.

I'm Quitting Like Fuck with all of you today.

Haven't posted in here in quite a while and since i'm procrastinating doing homework I figured this is the perfect time. I'd like to start by thanking everyone who has helped me make it this far (six weeks) I don't know where i'd be without your support, but I imagine wherever I would be, I'd be dipping. Today is six weeks quit for me, I feel like in those six weeks I've made some true friends on KTC, friends who i know will keep me accountable, and keep me on the right path (quitting like fuck with all y'all). I'm very close to some major life events coming up (graduating college, starting a career, etc.) and I get to enjoy them dip free, that's something i never though would happen.

I want to ask anyone who reads this to pick a quitter they don't know/doesn't seem to have a lot of support in roll and support them today, doesn't matter if they're a vet with 2000+ days quit or the freshest of the newbies everyone needs a little extra support every once in a while.

Keep quit and fuck nic 'Finger'

MCO

Congrats MCO! Graduating college and starting a career is a hell of a change. I did it about 4 years ago, but it feels like yesterday. It is a hell of a change. Good luck to you, and congrats on making it as far as you have. Quitting like fuck!

Hey MCO, you've got a great quit going...keep it up! It's going to be great starting your career dip free. I wish I would have done that instead of waiting almost to the end.

MCO,

Congrats on the upcoming graduation! I'll be graduating myself on May 10th (Masters in Forensic Psychology). Studying was a huge trigger for me to use (a fat dip kept my mind from wandering). Grateful as I know how to be that I don't have to use that crutch anymore. Proud to be quit with badasses like you!

Guy to a Girl in Bar: Can I smell your panties??

Girl to Guy in Bar: Hell no!

Guy to Offended Girl in Bar: Hmmm, it must be your feet!

As some of you know I'm gonna be on vacation for the next two weeks. I'll be cruising the Mediterranean and will have no internet while at sea. I have a solid quit plan and will be texting in my roll to a few of my bad ass quit brothers. I will also be searching for wifi while at port so that I can post my own roll, or at the very least check to see that roll has been posted for me. I have gum, seeds, fake, and my HOF coin. I'm writing in my intro for two reasons... First, I want to give all of KTC my promise that I will not use nicotine while on vacation. Secondly, just in case my texts don't make it through or one of my contacts forgets to post for me, I want you all to know where I am, and what I'm doing so no one thinks I'm MIA. See you all on the 22nd!

I MCO, promise not to use nicotine while on vacation.

Quit....Like Fuck

Edit: I also left you all with a new avatar...hope it will satisfy y'all for two weeks.

Dude you're a pure badass! Never been prouder to be quit w/ you than I am today. That is a solid plan! I was tempted countless times last weekend while on vacation. But, since I had a quit plan in place, the temptations were crushed. Dominate the nic bitch and enjoy the hell out of your cruise!

BTW, I'm coining you as the Non Invasive Brain Surgeon of KTC- Because your avatars are slicing and dicing our minds man...DAMN!

Dude - you have been a solid bad ass quitter, 100% roll posting machine, ass avatar poster extraordinaire, one of my first and best supporters, and turning into a pretty awesome friend, even if you are going to end up being a cop and profiling me every chance you get. Congrats on the 2nd floor and here's to every one day at at time going forward. May I never see your ugly mug in my rearview mirror with your lights flashing and your piece pointed at me. I will most likely have to laugh at you, give you the bird, get back in my car and drive on.
