Hey fellas,
I've been part of the brotherhood for 15 days now and realized I never really introduced myself. I suppose that is because I have never coresponded with anyone from a website or chatroom before. I always thought that was for losers or perverts.
I am 42 years old. Had my first chew of loose leaf tobacco when I was 8 years old. By the time I was ten...I was chewing abaout a pouch of Redman a week. My kids are amazed that I could actually buy tobacco at 10 in the 1970's. I told them that nobody cared...and if they questioned it...I would tell them it was for my pap. At 12 I was a full blown Snuff dipper with patented circular can wear mark in my back pocket. For the past 30 years, I have been a Nic addicted Copenhead feeding a 2 can a day habit. Believe it or not...I used to sleep with a big three finger dip in at night. I'd wake up a few hours later to spit and then roll over and go back to sleep. I can't believe a woman would actually put up with that kind of crap!
As a result of all this abuse, I recently had $10,000 worth of dental work done to repair (in part) what Copenhagen had destroyed. I decided enough was enough. I wanted to quit, but desparately needed help. In looking for a cessation program exclusively for "dippers" I found Killthecan.org. Thank God! I'm working on week number three and have no intentions of giving in. I never thought that I could quit tobacco as I have never really lived my life without it. I was wrong and I thank you guys for your encouagement and support. Having been involved and reading your posts for the past 2 weeks...I was right about the "losers and perverts" thing, but you are "Nicotine Free" losers and perverts. I am proud to be included in your company.

I remember buying cigarettes for my old man at that age, as well. I actually was scared the first time I ordered a pack over the counter, so I explained, "They are for my dad." The guy at the cash register said, "I don't give a fuck, kid."

I'm going to lean on you, man. I need you to succeed. I need you to be nicotine-free every day. Yeah, it's selfish, but whatever. Fuck it. If you can quit, I can quit. That's my attitude. You're 10 years older than me and have 10 more years of habit in your blood and in your conscience. If you can quit and stay quit, I have absolutely no fucking excuses. And I find a lot of value in that, bro. A lot.
For what it's worth, you can lean on me, too.
But I will warn you: I am certainly a pervert, and I will nibble on your asshole if you lean TOO close.

Toddy, same age, same sick habit. I remember walking to Sunnyside Deli and buying the Redman when i was little too. No questions asked. Too funny. And too sad.
I just had periodontal work done too, in part to mostly tobacco use and abuse. That's what brought me here too. The stitches and pain were enough to get me to quit, finally.
I worry, though, as you probably do, what will happen when it's all healed up. That's why I need to stay close to this site and guys like you and everyone else.
