Title: Let the fun times begin
Post by: TLOC81 on January 13, 2015, 05:58:00 AM
I've chewed for 17 years and have been a slave to it for 15 of those years. I'm quitting today because I hate knowing that I have frequently turned down invitations to spend time with friends/family/ or girlfriends because the thought of chewing by myself for a few hours sounded like bliss (knowing deep down I'd be missing valuable time with people I loved being around). I'm quitting because I hate that when I'm spending time with my gfriend/friends/family my mind is constantly distracted with thoughts about when I could get the next opportunity to chew. The longer I went without one, the more irritated I got, and the less fun I was to be around, and unwarranted resentment would set in where I'd illogically place my anger on those keeping me from having my chew (unbeknownst to them of course). I hate that chew controls my emotions, distracts my thoughts, and leads me away from the people I love and the activities I enjoy. I'm excited to experience what life could be like without these controls or restraints while recognizing that I'm in for one of the toughest battles of my life. Gotta start somewhere and I guess that just happens to be the 13th of January. Here I come. cowboy

Best decision you could've made. You are in it for the right reasons, because only you can quit. Are you quit now? If so good. Go find your old cans, your emergency cans, and flush those too. Don't be around the stuff. This is a nic free site, so no gums or patches, you are just prolonging the fight. You are going to be in my quit group, April 2015, this is a good chance to go there and see some names and get to know folks. While you are there you can post roll, which is our cow to ourselves and the rest that we will not use nocotine today. Welcome aboard and congrats on making the decision to jump in,

Great choice to quit, and great acknowledgment that you are an addict. Get into the welcome center and learn how and why we post roll, and then find your quit-group and post roll. Read everything on KTC. All the knowledge you need to quit is here. Get ready to fight for your life and freedom. You can do this.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I posted my first day today. I found this site yesterday but had used nic gum. Said the hell with using a crutch and am going cold turkey today and here on out. I've tried to quit 100 times before but have never used a community forum/support before and this just feels different. Feeling like my hate for what nicotine has done is at its apex, and if not now then I don't know when.

Great choice, TL!!! My favorite part of your intro was: "I'm excited"...blah, blah, blah. The rest doesn't matter. The bottom line is YOU have the right attitude. Shit, I'm excited about your quit too. In fact, I'm fucking pumped!!!

Folks come in here talking about how it's gonna suck, they feel like shit, it's gonna be hell. FUCK THAT!!! Turn the tables on the Nic Bitch. YOU'RE FREE NOW. EMBRACE THE SUCK...THAT'S THE FEELING OF HEALING! Everything about your life is better nic free. That means that everything about today is better than yesterday. And it just keeps getting better. Feel like you're getting crushed? GREAT!!! YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT!!!

Ask yourself two questions...what are you prepared to do, and how much can you take? The answers are simple...POST ROLL and NO LIMIT.

When you post roll and give your word, and we sure as shit expect you to keep it...no matter what happens today. If you're a man of your word, all you have to do is post roll ONE DAY AT A TIME. Then, because you're a man of your word, we know you would sooner cut your thumb and finger off before you would poke them into a can today. It just simply won't happen today...for any reason...period. Not making any promises about tomorrow or next week. But definitely not today!!!

Wake up and repeat. Post roll, read all you can, keep your word, and repeat. Oh, and don't forget to celebrate. YOU'RE FREE NOW!!!

Congrats on taking the first step. Get involved, read all you can, learn to hate her. I'll quit with you today. It ain't easy to be a member of this community but it is simple. Post Roll early every day, honor your word then rinse and repeat.

It will suck until it doesn't and then it won't.

This place is such a library of experiences, lessons, and wise-words (and verbal beat downs as well if I'm going to be thorough). I find myself just clicking on anything and everything like it's some treasure hunt to find some fascinating story or some great advice given by some guy/girl I don't even know who may have posted something on a whim that actually really hits home with me. These archives are filled with absolute gold. Just blown away is all, and maybe a little delirious from the fog and lack of sleep. Bottom line is I can just read this stuff for hours...

You are right, this place is absolute gold. Keep digging and you are sure to find hundreds of stories just like your own and most likely a few laughs. Just keep digging and get to know some fellow quit brothers because it really helps in the early days of your quit. Keep it up... your almost out of the fog. Good to see you on here early this morning.

Hey TLOC,
Watching from a distance. Your doing a great job on your quit. One good read that's full of gold is your own intro... Don't forget why you quit.
I hope you have a few digits from some of your brother Apes like Drew , pab, Trigerhapy. If not.... PM them today! And you can PM me also.
Remember it's going to be a roller coaster easy/easy mountain top victory one day... The next fog/suck back in the closet looking for a shirt the next!
Let's Also play it forward for some newbies that are on day 1-4 swallowing buckets of suck.
Proud of you.... And quit with you today.
Rawls

Hey Rawls,
Thanks for reaching out to me and providing some great words of encouragement. I go through the intros pretty often and I simply can't express how much these have helped in this battle. I've been hooked up with Froggy, Jerk11, Airforce addict, and Bigheadog. It has definitely helped being able to contact them when I get down or can't seem to get rid of a pesky craving. It has been quite a roller coaster but the tough times have already begun to get easier with time. I quit with you as well brother and proud of it. I'm leaving my number in a PM.

Thanks Rawls,

Tloc

Hey Tloc! If you knew this shit was gonna be this hard to quit would you have packed that lip full? Hell yes because we all start when we're young wanna fit in or look tough! I just step back now after reading some stories on here about guy's with cancer, guy's that died with cancer and think that could damn well be me telling my story about my everyday struggles with cancer! I'm thankful to God everyday that I've been spared and can anyone honestly say why not me? Sorry brother been thinking hard about this worthless poison and it pisses me off! I'm damn proud to be quit with you my brother! Pm me you want some digits! Keep it up your doing a damn good job!
