Title: thinking its about time to quit
Post by: corince06 on November 15, 2013, 08:46:00 PM
Hey every my name is Cory. I've been thinking about quitting for over two gears but havent been able to go longer then two months without tobacco. I know how dangerous this stuff is and I fear that each day I get closer to a serious problem. I am expecting my first child soon and want to quit by then, January 10th. I grew up watching my dad smoke and he blames himself for me starting.tobbacco. I don't want that to be me I want to be a good example.for my son. Just looking for some help I guess.

Cory don't worry about messing up roll call just do it. If you don't get it perfect the first few times you'll be normal. Welcome aboard and be as active as possible
But never miss posting roll. Posting roll is your promise to go nicotine free for the day. We can all quit nicotine One Day At A Time.

I could really pick apart the last sentence you have but will do this a different way.

There have been hundreds/thousands before you that have walked the way of KTC, using the system and brotherhood we have here, that are now quit.

So with our support you will be quit if you learn and use it right.

And by doing this, you (like the rest of us) the addict, will beat this addiction one day at a time, which is all I do, which is all we can ask here.

So remember, read up, learn, be a friend, be accountable and you will do this (note I did not reference hope as do not rely on hope, just do it and quit).

This isn't a place for "Thinking" about quit...

This is the place where we QUIT, we KICK THE CANCER CAN, we are NICOTINE FREE...

There are tons of site that try to peptalk and sweet love you into a quit in which you will most likely fail after the initial feeling of success.

Post Roll (If you don't know how click below the link for new quitters) and take the PROMISE to be NICOTINE FREE and run with it...

CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOR THE BETTER

Nobody can help you, if you don't truly want to help yourself..

I am Ace been quit 6 days and counting and couldn't of done it without this great group of guys/girls for support. When you are ready to MAN UP and QUIT FOR GOOD ill see you at Roll Call

Talk is cheap!!! Some where inside you is a quitter. Reach deep for this person. I would like to meet him. As for you,,, ahhhh, not so much.

Cory when I first joined I was shocked and a little bit pissed by all the tough talk from everyone. But you know what, if you don't get angry and tough yourself forget about it. Quitting is for the strong...dipping is for the weak. You will be challenged very day by your addiction. Don't take the easy soft way out. Be tough! Keep your promise everyday. Good luck.

Alright cory, you got my attention. Now make a believer out of me.

Post up for day 2. Anyone can make it 1 day right? How about 2? Dig deep!

You know how I know you can make it for day two? I'm on day 276. 277 days ago this was impossible. I thought there was no way to get where I am. You know how I did it?

1 day at a time. 1 hour at a time. 1 minute at a time. 1 second at a time. I posted roll each and every day. With that post is my word and I keep my word. If I can get here you can damn sure make it 2! I'll be glad to quit with you every day my friend. What do you say? In the upper right hand corner is your in box. Check it. There is a number there if you need it.

Make sure your quit accountability is in proper priority. Quit for yourself. Then if you cave you will know who to kick in the balls. Welcome, you and I are in the same quit group. Send me a private message (PM) if you need some support. IÂ’m quitting with you today.

I'm glad you posted. This is your intro. I would urge you to update it every now and then with how your quit is going. How your feeling and so forth. Its totally up to you, but later in your quit it allows you to see you're progress. Anyhow, glad to see your post. Quit on my friend.

You will do this one day at at a time. You screwed your brain for years,, I say again YEARS!! I'll let you add the days up on your own. You'll probably need a calculator. I say that to say this,,, 8 days is just the beginning. I didn't begin feeling better until about 40 days in. Maybe you will be different though,, you never no. In time you will start to feel better and begin feeling somewhat normal. What is normal exactly!?!? Your guess is as good as mine.

There is a door you need to get to. This door is hard to get to and open. Sharpen your tools, settle in and make your way to the door. I can't tell you how far the door is or how long it will be before you get to this door. You WILL get there one day at a time. I make you one promise and you can take it to the bank. You stay the course, and live by this rule (nafar) you will love where this quit takes you. Life is so much better without the poison. Glad to be quit with you.

Doesn't sound like a winning plan my friend. You won't be the first to think your cured and probably not the last. I never understand you guys that think coming here is some kind of chore.......

What lengths would you have gone to get a can when you were using?

We should be willing to do just as much to stay quit.

Just post roll on here and be accountable. It takes 2 minutes a day. You can do it, and you'll be even more invested in your quit. If you can't make it to a computer, all you have to do is text or call someone to post for you.

Cory, this is one of the dumbest plans I hear on here all the time. I too have friends and family outside of KTC, but none of them have the experience or the true compassion you will need to continue.

First off I am still quitting and this site did nothing for me. As everyone can see I haven't posted roll consistently the whole time I have joined and yet I am still good. I tried to be nice saying this site actually helped but when it comes down to it the fact that I wanted to quit is the only reason I have quit! I don't need a bunch of people telling me in an idiot because I'm stronger than they are. And anyone can post roll and still be dipping!!!! How is a text everyday proof that you have actually quit???? Whoever is the moderator please delete my account so I dont have to listen to these fucking idiots who think this site is the only way to quit tobacco.

One of these days somebody is going to have to tell me why people join up to get help and then after not liking how things work (which should have been one of the first things done when joining) just bash away at a proven system that works.

Cornice, I'm not going to try to talk you into staying. To each there own. I will tell you though that I went 30 days posting roll off and on 5 years ago and STOPPED chewing! Note, didn't quit. Only Stopped. About 4 years into that stop I figured I could have just 1 and it would be cool, fast forward a month and I'm chewing a can a day and trying to hide the fact from my wife and family.
Guess what, I'm on day 24 again. I had day 1, 5 years to the day that I should have celebrated a 5 year quit! So head out and try to depend on your friends and family (who likely have no idea what it's like to face everyday not chewing), but when that doesn't work out, come back and start posting and drink the kool-aid.
I know now that the only way I can stay quit is to make a promise to my friends on here that I will not chew TODAY, and that will keep me going. Good luck and hope to see ya back someday!

You're damn right you don't! Thankfully a good many people have fought for your right to do your own thing. Careful who you shit on as you leave, several of us have come to the conclusion that without this site we would not be on the day count we are currently. Perhaps you don't but you are in the majority.

So go on live you life and best of luck to you. I fall into that idiot category I guess because I tend to believe that when a man or a woman puts their name on roll they give their promise. I wouldn't expect everyone to know what it means to keep their word as most in today's society lack that level of understanding of the ABCs.

So before you tell everyone on here to go fuck themselves understand that they we are all just trying to get you to see what we believe.

Now move along little doggie!

I've seen this story before. Person joins site... Person can't follow the KTC plan... Person tells those reaching out to shut the F up, etc... Person either caves or leaves site and is never heard from again.

No one is forcing you to be here. You don't like the KTC plan, then I recommend you try somewhere else. Good luck.

To everyone saying they will see me back here someday your wrong. Keep judging me without knowing me. Makes me laugh. Did you cave?

Are you going to cave? Answer those 2 questions. Do you know why folks are saying that to you?

Now ask yourself if you want to be part of this environment.

This quit plan is simple. We wake up... We post roll... We stay quit. We do this ODAAT.

We also hold each other accountable. That means we speak the truth. The truth sometimes hurts, but that is why this works. Can you handle people holding you accountable?

Think about those questions. If the answer leads you to KTC then put your nose down and get to quitting. I'd recommend the KTC way because for me it just works.

No I did not cave

No I am not going to cave. I am quitting because my son will be born in a few weeks and I don't want him to ever see me dip.

I can handle the truth man. The fact is people are saying lies. I hate liars. Pm me in a week, two weeks, a month, a year from now I'll still be quit! Just because I don't chose to post on here doesnt mean shit.

Not sure who the people are that are telling lies...

But heard your answer loud and clear that you are not posting roll.

Got it. If you don't do that then I can't support you. It does mean something. Posting roll is the pillar of this site. If you don't get that then maybe this is not for you.

Good luck brother.

Better yet, post roll for you, your family, friends all those reasons and support you had mentioned when you said you were leaving the site. Glad your choosing to post roll everyday, you may find that involvement here may just be the difference between being quit and just being stopped for a while.

Quit with you today.

Hey guys. I was a member of Febuary and back in January I caved like a bitch. Back with a clear head ready to rock and roll and kick this shit.

What happened. I don't have an excuse I wanted a dip and bought a can. Tasted like shit but I couldn't do it on my own so here I am

Why did it happen. I honestly dont know what happened I just had s huge craving and couldn't say no. I also wasn't 100% committed to this site and my quit buddies.

What are you going to different. I'm going to commit 100% to the program and my fellow quitters. Have faith guys I'm here to stay. Promise.

So this guy joins KTC, belittles it, goes on his own and it doesn't work out. shocker! Let's just go ahead and pull a couple of gems from your intro:

I am no longer going to be posting on here. I have support from friends and family that is helping me stay quit. I dont ever think about posting roll so this will make people no longer worry about me. Thank you to everyone who helped me this far I really appreciate it. Hope everyone stays quit. I know I will.

And

Waketech go Fuck yourself you fucking pussy!! If you can't quit on your own your fucking pathetic.

And

so I dont have to listen to these fucking idiots who think this site is the only way to quit tobacco.

Dude your answers to the three questions SUCK. You suddenly pulled a 180 and are completely bought in? You're ready to join all of us "fucking idiots" and this "stupid site"?

SPOILER ALERT: CORY WILL NOT POST ROLL FOR THE NEXT 100 DAYS.

Cornice,

First I want to give you props for coming back. That is never easy. Being in your original quit group I was a bit invested in you until you told us all you didn't need us. I'm always game for supporting a quitter that really wants to commit to his quit and kick the nasty habit. However, your answer to the 3 questions was pretty fucking weak bro! Also I didn't see any humility in coming back. I saw, Hey I fucked up, I'm back, lets do this again. No apologizes, no I fucked up, no I shouldn't have talked shit.

I imagine you are going to get beat on a bit more for your cave by some of the harder asses on here! You have it coming! I hope you take the lashing's humbly and start posting roll! I offered up my cell number to you in PM months ago! I will resend again. I hope you take your shit seriously this time. It's life or death man!

Your gonna want to dig deeper then that for sure bro. Glad to see you are back, but you got to look at this quit with commitment and humility. Caving is bad enough. But caving and coming back without commitment is worse. People will invest in your quit. Make sure its not a waste of there time. Your freedom needs to be your only focus today!

Waketech go Fuck yourself you fucking pussy!! If you can't quit on your own your fucking pathetic.

That is your quote. Read it and understand that you couldn't quit on your own. Fucking Pathetic comes to mind. What say you??? This would be a good starting point or you can go take an English class and come back in a semester. Sorry, that quote pissed me off.

This quote would scare the crap out of me.
Quote
I honestly dont know what happened
Aren’t you asking yourself, “If I don’t know what happened then how the hell will I avoid that situation in the future?”

I think you are seriously lacking accountability.
Quote
I wanted a dip and bought a can.
Just because you want something doesnÂ’t mean you go out and do it. There is a price to be paid for our choices and thatÂ’s called accountability. You have given zero value to KTC and your quit so your decision to cave will always be an easy one. If I were you, I would re-value my quit and up my accountability. The nic bitch will take your life and hurt everyone you care about.

If all of us went out and bought a can when we "wanted a dip" there wouldn't be anyone here! There are a lot of badass-es in here that suffered a cave or two but in reading all their threads they all have one thing in common, some humility and self honesty when they came back.

Hey I just hope this time around you use the sight how it is supposed to be used and dont be calling people worthless because the way I see it you are just as worthless. Get on here drink the koolaid get some accountability going and use the site like it is supposed to be used
Its not the English of your answers my friend, it is rather the look that the responses that you provided have not been entirely thought out.

In particular the 3rd point of what you are going to do if this situation comes up again. Remember if you do not plan properly you will fail again. Don't let that happen. Let's hear that step wise plan of what you are going to do.

For a point here is a shortened version of mine:
1. Look in mirror and tell myself that I cannot do with out it
2. Look at my phone and call (not text) 3 of my fellow brothers from Oct12 and get their permission
3. Continue to look at my phone for 5 others that are outside of my group and call them and ask for permission
4. Look at my wife and kids in the eye and ask them for permission

that is a total of 11 people that I need permission from....I can almost say for certain it will never happen again

so your turn...

Cory, bare with me one second while I try and unblock your mind.

Your a fitness instructor. Got a scenario for you; You have individual you are training. This individual comes in real overweight, out of shape and is eating like slob. You turn this individual around. You get them into shape. This takes time and hard work. The individual seems to be doing ok, but you can tell they are not really into it. You continue to try and try with this individual. You think you might be making progress. The individual is losing weight, beginning to eat right, but there is still something missing.

The person does not show up for training one day. Starts missing regularly. You have to continue monitoring this person closely because you know if you can just get this person to a certain physical and mental state they will begin doing things on their own and constant monitoring will no longer be necessary.

All of the sudden, the person is no where to be found. You make contact and the person tells you to f*** off. It's like the person drops off the map.

A couple months later the individual comes back in worse shape then ever. It's like you never existed.

You ask,, what happened, why did it happen, and what are you going to do different.

The individual states, I got hungry and ate. I said the heck with all you've helped me with and could care less. I'm sorry, i'll just start over.

Think about it friend!! I was one of those trainers,, I need more of an answer then you gave. I don't get paid for what I do, you do. I make and investment I want to know that investment is going to pay off. Got, bumped wanted to make sure you got to read Cory.

Can't wait to prove you wrong. If my answers are weak I'm not an English major I'm a fitness trainer.
I hope you do prove me wrong but dude your answers don't lack prose, proper grammar, sentence structure, etc. They lack conviction, truth, candor, thoughtfulness, effort...

People invest a lot of time trying to help you get to be quit. The least you could do is invest some time in them. All they've asked of you is that you answer three questions with some honesty and self reflection. No one is above the rules here.

"I'm a fitness trainer" is just another excuse. Break the habit of bullshitting and we'll get somewhere.
What the Fuck do you want me to say dude? Im a fucking worthless piece of shit who doesn't deserve anything from anyone? That Im deeply sorry for letting everyone down and wasting their time???? Since you asked, here is my wish list for all returning cavers:
1) Answer the three questions. Simply the price of re-entry, but frankly it is way more for you than me. Understand your own rationale for what you did and why you did it. If you fail to evaluate those, how will you avoid it when the situation occurs again? You see I already know there is no valid reason to cave, that crap will do me harm and provide no good. Cavers apparently don't fully believe that to be true...
2) I like to see a quit plan that includes specifics like a cave contract, how many numbers and how you will use contacts, etc.
3) Acknowledge that you failed, you were weaker than everyone else here that kept their promise on that day. Leave the false pride and anger at the door. The system didn't fail you, other quitters didn't fail you. You failed. That doesn't mean you have to continue to fail, but it does mean you don't have it all figured out and just maybe following the KTC recipe more closely will result in a different outcome.
The other way to say that is why would you expect a different result if you simply do what you did before?
4) I'm mostly looking for how badly you want this. Don't want to invest more time on the site? Don't want to share with complete strangers? Don't want to believe that you are not much different than thousands of other nic addicts? Then I'd guess you really don't want to quit that badly...

Quitting chew is probably one of the toughest things many of us will do willingly in our life. But anyone that wants it badly enough can be quit. Far to many people here seem to think caving is inevidable, that we should be kinder to cavers. That is bullshit. Start thinking like a quitter, not an addict.

I don't think there are all that many English majors on this site. No hard fact to back that up but just a guess.

What we do have is a bunch of quitters that give everything they got to be quit today. We post roll and honor our word. Some of us are battling minute to minute to stay clean. We are all in.

You on the other hand don't seem to get it... This is not a term paper that you can cut/paste, cheat your way thru and just turn in for an A cuz your teacher is an idiot. You can't lie your way thru this and you can't half ass it. It don't work that way.

Read Minny's, t-cell and srans comments again. They are spot on.

Either you drink the KTC koolaid or you are doomed to repeat prior behavior. I can tell you this with certainty... None of us want to see that.

How can you question the efficacy of this site when there is proof of its validity all around you? I wasn't an English major either but this place just brings out the best in most people!

Quitting chew is probably one of the toughest things many of us will do willingly in our life. But anyone that wants it badly enough can be quit. Far to many people here seem to think caving is inevidable, that we should be kinder to cavers. That is bullshit. Start thinking like a quitter, not an addict.

A plethora of stalwarts ^^^^^^^ of quit are exhorting you to adhere to the time honored and tested attributes of this community . How can you question the efficacy of this site when there is proof of its validity all around you? I wasn't an English major either but this place just brings out the best in most people!
Like I said before, and you should have listened, "STFU and go post roll! ^_^

I am not a fucking English guy I never did will in English. I could go copy and paste someone else's shit if you'd like so It sounds more proper if you'd like.

Haven't seen your name of the rolls today... You done?

Any thoughts on your responses to the 3 questions. These questions are for you and your quit. But when you answer like you did we owe it to you and others here to try and help you get on the right pAth. Your answers the other day will not serve you very well as you move forward.

Did you make any adjustments somewhere other than here? Hopefully it will be better than English major smack.

How bout we start with ROLL...

Second day you can't answer the questions!?!? Here is the problem with you cory. I went back to your first post during your initial quit. You don't care about posting roll, or just about anything else that demonstrates you really want to quit. Your heart is not in it man. This is the second day that 3/4 was over before you posted roll. I'm believing minny's spoiler alert was right on.

There is some quitters here in your group that mean business. Let me ask you something. Have you even read any of their intros? Don't asnwer! We both know you haven't. Have you offered your phone number or sent a pm to any of the members in your group to show support? Have you asked for help or shown interest in what's going on here at all? Don't answer! We both know you haven't. Show me something bro. Show me you really want this. Right now it's clear your full of sh**.

You wouldn't have even posted roll if Derk didnt call you out. Someone else can waste their time here!

Sweet jesus this thread reeks of doucheiness. Why are you here if you don't want or need the support? Or feel like posting roll? Why don't you buy in a little bit instead of making excuses and being combative?

It is always facinating to watch someone speak so combatively with their head so far up their ass. 'bang head' Dude, only special butterflies come to this forum and try to change a quit recipe that has been proven to work. Those same change-agents can't grasp they are not special, we are all addicts and know you far better than you know yourself because you actually still believe your own lies. And the last news flash, 100% of those change-agents were quit failures when they arrived here, so why do they think their way is better?
Do you want to quit or do you want to battle other quitters? Why are you here? Answering the 3 questions might help you figure that out...

odds are Ktc will be here in 100 days, but not sure you will be. See quitting is more about attitude then arrogance. And Ktc has a proven attitude. No nic, post roll daily and be accountable. That's the Ktc attitude, and it works. Not sure that you have the same attitude. But I'm wrong some days. So I will gladly allow you to prove me wrong. I've already had to learn the lessons you are walking through right now. You have two paths in front of you. Your choice!

Hey keep talking shit guys. Will just make life that much sweeter when I say I fucking told you so at day 100!!! As far as roll it's called my job schedule is different srans. I work shift work at night so my day starts after lunch for everyone else.
BS
'crackup' job schedule. I hope you don't really expect anyone here to believe that. YOU can't honestly believe that.
100 'crackup' Your killing me.
Your way probably won't work. The formula spelled out to you below will.
So a graveyard shift fitness trainer! It all makes sense now, how could I be so dumb...
odds are Ktc will be here in 100 days, but not sure you will be.

What happened. I don't have any excuses at why I caved like a bitch. I wanted to dip and stopped saying no because I had no support due to my arrogance of leaving the KTC community.

Why did it happen.
I joined the site and didnt take it serious. After three weeks I stopped posting roll because I thohght the site was a joke. I left the KTC community and sure enough everyone was right I caved. I didnt text anyone or use chat or any support from the site thats there to help me.

What are you going to different. I'm going to commit to the KTC program this time around. I have been reading other peoples posts who have made their quits and stayed quit. I am going to text fellow group members for help and to support them as well as message members on a daily basis.

Ok so here are my revised answers to the three questions. I apologize to everyone for being an arrogant douche bag. Sorry it took so long to redo this but I wanted to prove my commitment.

Bro... I am really glad to read this post tonight. The first thing I did was go to the May 2014 spreadsheet to check out your roll call status. 100% post rate and 21 days quit. That is what I like to see. That is how you come back. It looks like someone has consumed some KTC kool aid.

The addict in all of us is rough around the edges. We all say stuff in the heat of battle. No worries here.

I'm proud of you and will quit with you all day long!

I believe that the further you travel your quit journey the more you will come to understand that these people on the internet have had one goal the whole entire time. That goal is for you to quit nicotine for good. They really are doing God's work. Nobody sends them a monthly check for helping fellow addicts. They do it because they care deep down inside about you. Congrats on staying quit. Spread your quit network far and wide. Help a fellow addict. Doing so will only strengthen your quit.

First let me suggest you send her here to read the spouse section. It can be helpful for her to understand what your are going through. You are fighting against an addiction, not just kicking some nasty habit.

Second be sure to focus any anger/rage towards the real culprit here, nicotine. The nic bitch made you her slave and she doesn't not go quietly. I found that the anger is really just the poison trying to talk me into "just one" to make it all better. It's a lie, your around the 1 month mark and starting to truly come out of the initial "fog". Good times are ahead, you are winning brother. Keep posting, jump in chat or text someone when your raging. Bottom line, use all the tools at your disposal.

I quit with you today, let me know if I can help you in any way.

007 gave some great advice.

I would go up to her and give her a kiss/hug and do something nice for her. Go out of your way to treat her well. Expect nothing in return.

Vent your frustrations on your intro, in your quit group, or at your text buddies.

Remember the the Nic bitch is the culprit. You have divorced that bitch today.
