Title: My Start

Well I have to say I am glad I found this website. I literally just took my whole log of dip and opened them up and flushed them down the toilet. Now on to some other things here recently dip has hit me very hard. Lets just say that back in February of 2011 I had a full head of hair now my hair has receded dramatically and thinned out and its all because of the dipping and increasing thyroid levels. Now my question to you guys is, do you think that quitting dip and losing weight at the same time a good idea or what?

If it were me I would wait two weeks before I tried to lose weight. Your body will go through some changes from not having nicotine. Nicotine raises your blood sugar level which reduces your appetite. Odds are you are going to want to eat more. Your appetite should return to normal soon. When I quit I wanted to eat more and I did. Perhaps holding your weight steady for a few weeks might make life easier.

Anything will be better than putting nicotine in your system. 2 or 3 extra pounds right now won't kill you, nicotine will.

I can help you with a diet if you need it.

Congratulations on your new quit. You will do it.

Well the first time I quit (that lasted 2 years, this is my third quit :wacko: ) I was completely changing my life. So I also quit soda, fast food, started working out every day and eating healthier. I quit dipping and lost 40 lbs in less than 5 months.

I think it always helps to have something to concentrate on and keep your mind off dipping, and working out and just concentrating on bettering yourself is a great way to do that IMO.

You can do it though!

Hello and welcome to the site DB.

First thing first, we quit by signing roll call everyday. Roll call is our promise to each other and to ourselves that we will not use nicotine in any form. Please take a look up at the top of this screen and fin the black banner. You'll see a pink "WELCOME CENTER". Read through all those points and when you are ready, post your roll call in the April 2012 group.

With that being said, there is nothing wrong with some serious workouts while quitting. It pushes you out of the fog, and helps rid your body of all that jittery goodness. However, be careful trying to do too much at once. Quitting is hard. Right now, your first priority should be quitting. There may be times that dieting issues will stress your quit process. I can't really give you a timeline of when it is good to lose weight with a quit because everybody is different.

Worry about today. Tomorrow will fall into place.
