I recently quit chewing just this last Sunday, so I'm starting my third day. My brother recommended this site to me and I found it very helpful so far. The hardest part so far is what most people around here call triggers. I had to drive 3 hours to visit my brother this week and that was a very hard situation. Stress is another tough trigger to deal with. I and my family had a very stressful Monday at the hospital all day and the most difficult thing not stopping at the 55 gas stations on your way home.
I've been chewing for a good part of 10 years with very minor interruptions of my habit.
For anyone new (and maybe just for my confirmation), this is what I've dealt with so far:
-Don't quit for someone else. It won't work. I've tried this many times throughout the years.
-I've had a sore throat for a few days now.
-I've been nauseous and dizzy for about 1 day now. Today is the worst. You're hungry, but it feels like you shouldn't eat.
-I do know that if I have a chew, then all of this will go away (this is the mental part for me).
Well, just wanted to write a few things down and introduce myself for anyone that may be looking to quit or is in the process.
edit: added some more onto my post.

Welcome aboard Ken and welcome to the fog. However after today your body will be nic free! The fog will go away after a couple of weeks but what you are experiencing is normal withdrawal symptoms. Just keep in mind that it is all a mind game. Congrats on the best decision you'll ever make. I believe you'll be posting roll with December. If you need numbers just ask.

Welcome. If your first day was sunday, you would post roll in the November group. Keep up with your quit and remember to post roll everyday and staq quit for that day. Do the same each day.
It gets a lot better from where your are at today. I am on Day 9 and I am really enjoying life, dip free. One thing you will notice right away, your wallet is bigger. Very nice feeling.

Thanks for the suport Davenc and Fort. I've been browsing these forums for a few hours now and it's an absolutely great site. I've found the HOF Nov 2010 post and I'll figure out posting roll as well.

Ken, welcome and I love your mindset here. Your quit will be taken to a much higher level around day 50ish. Keep your mind right, do NOT cave (caving is NOT an option), and stay on this site.

Thank your bro for the site recomendation...he is right ..this site is the answer for the NIC BIOTCH.....sounds like you have it all sorted......you will be fine...post roll and use these quit veterans...they want to help and are all class.....except if you cave or wine then they rip you apart...LOL

Ditto this one Ken and if in case the WI stands for Wisconsin....welcome Cheeser.....we're trying to hold our own against the FIBs so we can use you around here.
Your attitude is good and the fact that you are reading around the site is super-good.
Post roll and and lets get this party started...........read read read around the site and drink huge amounts of water. Nicotine is water soluble so the more you drink, the faster it gets the fuck out of your system. That will also help straighten out the Ph level in your mouth and throat and help your body heal. Your symptoms should be a good indication of what a horrible and deadly drug you're addicted to.
Post roll first thing each morning. That is your promise to everyone on the site that you will not dip that day so once you do it, nicotine in any form is off the table that day.
We do it one day at a time around here and you can do it just like the rest of us...it's a no brainer bro.

Is there really a such thing as beer-cheese soup?
If so, how long do people typically sit on the crapper after dinner?
