Title: Once and for all

I've quit a couple times, only to come back six months, eight months later after a few beers. I always thought "what's the harm," I can't get addicted to this stuff again. But here I am, 3 years after the second quit, back to half a can a day. Well, I'm throwing it out tonight, and starting off tomorrow free of nicotine forever. Please send your positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever my way. I'm gonna need 'em.

its a struggle, it sucks, its the best decision you can make.

head up to the welcome center, (pink top bar below the logo)
read everything you can
post roll - your promise to yourself and everyone in your class that you will not use nicotine today
stay quit today
come back tomorrow and do the same damn thing

Well, I'm not gonna promise only positive thoughts. "cause I don't think those alone will keep an addict focused on defeating the master that is leading them by the nose. If you are gonna be unhappy with "reality check" support alongside the pat-on-the-ass support, you should study up before posting roll.

A quick non-positive thought: you have not quit a couple of times in the past. You have paused usage, or maybe reduced the frequency, but you did NOT quit. Now on to the positive...

Great decision, now search you soul and ask yourself if a relapse would be a choice or an unfortunate occurrence. If you settle on the latter, begin reading everything on this site, go to chat, etc, until you understand that there is simply never a good time to dip, never a good reason, and doing so is ALWAYS a conscious act/decision. The good news is that you CAN do this. I know this because we have all been down the same path, and your addiction is not some "super addiction" that we don't understand. You CAN do this. We are here to help make your decision as easy as possible. It will not be easy, but we can watch your back if you invest in your group and use the tools.

2 last suggestions based on your comments: 1. Google the "law of addiction" to help understand your previous failed quits. 2. search this site for advice on alcohol. It is a quit killer early on. THere is A LOT of evidence. There are A LOT of failures that thought they were the exception. I did have a few beers early on. ONLY after some great advice and a mild scare. ONLY at home, ONLY with my wife, and ONLY after telling her to watch my back and not to trust me. Things will get better, but protect your baby quit now until it can fly alone.

Please PM me if I can help or answer questions. I'm excited for you. You have no idea how great it feels to be off the nicotine leash. I want you to have an idea.
