Hey all, my names Anthony. I am 29 years old. I have dipped off and on for the last 10 years, mostly on. I have tried several times in the past to drop this stupid can, but always get beat. This time is the last and only real quit. I do not want my 1 year old daughter to bury me before she even really knows me. That is my strongest motivation right now is knowing if I give in to this crap again she will grow up and never know who her father was.
I really think with your strong support we can quit this habit together.

Hey Ant ! Great attitude, that's what it takes! So quit for yourself and that in turn will not only help you but all your loved ones. Go ahead and tell your loved ones you're quitting and your gonna be an asshole for a while, just ignore and support you. Remember before you start being an asshole to your family and chances are you will bring your ass in here and bitch at me,I'm a big boy and can handle it! Oh there's a whole lot more but come on in and post roll and get all the support you need! Just an addict trying to help another addict! I quit with you today!

Welcome aboard Anthony!
Addiction is a horrible thing if not properly harnessed. We tend to be all in on everything we do... At work we excel, are the best parents, have the nicest lawns in the neighborhood. Unfortunately that trait also tends to lead us to eat more than we should sometimes, and use tobacco like a fiend. Any of this sound familiar?
This is hard. Reprogramming is a really difficult thing to do. And that can a day = the same amount of nicotine as 3 packs of smokes. We are major addicts. But... You can do this. While hard, the freedom you are earning is going to be unlike anything you can imagine. The pride you are going to feel... You are going to love. Welcome to a great place. If I can help or if you need a text number, shoot me a pm. One day at a time.

Welcome to KTC! Glad you've elected to keep your face. This system works. It's worked for thousands of people, but to make it work for you, you need to do a few things. The most important thing is to post roll every single day. Wake roll repeat. You have to ask yourself if you're willing to do it everyday. I hope you say yes. It's not hard to do, and takes about 5 seconds of your morning. I quit with you today! I'm kind of a derp. Sorry. I see you've posted twice already! That's outfreakingstanding!!! You my friend are on your way!!

Anthony,
You're making a wise choice.....just remember as an addict, you can't have, EVER, "just one". Also remember that even tho it may feel like it, nicotine withdrawal has never actually killed anyone. One minute at a time.... Glad to have you!

Absolutely my wife asked why can't I just slowly stop instead of all or nothing. I told her because I'm an addict to a powerful drug and if I get one I will just want another.
Today is day 2, its been quite difficult to not just ask the guys I work with to bum a dip. I have been in a fist fight all morning with myself. But I'm still nicotine free and don't plan on starting back up ever.
-
I'm a recent quitter but I commend you on getting thru day 1! Rock on. Man up cuz day 2 thru 4 are motherfuckers! At least for me they were. Day 1 was kinda easy, still had enough nic raging thru my system it probably didn't matter. Day 2 was my hardest. But like many others have said "you will never have another day 1" or day 2, etc...
Get thru this day - you will enjoy it on the other side. You will have earned it. This shit is tough but you are tougher. You just proved you can do it. Now do it again today. Congrats and keep it up.

Anthony, Welcome aboard brother. This will be the best decision you have ever made. I am in the same boat as you. 29 years old with 2 young kids that I want to see grow up. First make sure you are quitting for yourself. That is the most important thing I took away from my quit. Your family is a very close 2nd. Use them as the motivation for your quit. Don't let anything get in your way and get your freedom back here. I have been posting here one day at a time for almost a year. If I can do it so can you. If you need anything feel free to reach out. We got this.

So far from this quit I have learned more about myself. I think I have failed in the past because I was fixated on how long I used or I would think what is the point. I have already done damage. But this time is different because I see it as what have I got to lose by quitting now. I know what I risk losing by not putting a end to it. I must succeed day by day, from now on. All of the words of inspiration I have read here have made this quit so much easier. I get stressed, I look around on here and just knowing I'm not by myself is an amazing feeling.
-
Good job. You are attacking your quit like you should.
It's one day at a time here on out brother. Don't worry about next week, or even tomorrow. Just win today.

I think everyone who has ever started to lift weights to put on muscle mass has been fixated on how many years have passed by doing nothing and would think 'what is the point of starting now'. The same goes with getting a college education later in life, changing to a more rewarding career, putting money away for retirement, etc. The lie we have always told ourselves is that quitting nicotine is somehow different from every other activity which requires grit, commitment, and dedication.
I quit with you today.

Thanks brother. I am also glad you decided to give up what is the worst part of any of our lives. I may only be a day ahead of you but in the end whether its 300 days or 1 we all have to fight the same battle, good news is there is thousands of soldiers fighting with us.

That's the attitude....or as some here say "quittitude!!" Keep it up!

Thanks, trying my best to be positive about it. Now into my 3rd day and it sucks but I could be worse off.

I'm just on day 10 myself, but days 2 and 3 were the worse for me. After 3 days all the nicotine is out of your body so it should start to get a little easier each day. I quit with you today!!

Thanks bro, any tips on getting any sleep? Or am I just wishful thinking. Would not be that bad if I could sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time and waking pouring sweat.

Lay off caffeine and exercise before bed.

My suggestion to help you sleep and get your mind off nicotine:
Hardcore, rattling the walls, shaking the pictures off the walls, sweat flying in all directions, screaming and yelling sex. For hours on end.
I swear to God... I should have been a doctor.
-
I think that is the best idea I've heard yet. Will give it a go.

Listen to worktowin ... If that doesn't work try reading. I had not read more than a few books since college and it helped. Also melatonin was huge for me. Can get it over the counter at health food stores. Worked wonders for me. Everyone is different . Does nothing for my wife and daughter but puts my son and I to sleep quickly.
-
Thanks for the help peeps. I actually slept through the night last night. Seems like the nyquil worked pretty well.
Day 4, I got some rest and my head isn't as foggy today.

By now the chemical has been largely flushed out of your body (the physical withdrawal has mostly completed). That is a good first step. Now you have to prepare yourself for the psychological effects, which are much deeper and significantly longer lasting. Think of all those nicotine receptors your brain "built" while you were dosing yourself all those years. Now they are starting to scream bloody murder for their "fix". It's like having a bunch of pissed off little demons running around inside your brain housing group (that's the "fog" you hear people talk about). I was a mental basket case for about the first month or so, even after the physical stuff. But slowly, those little bastards started to die off. Trust me, things will get better. A LOT better. But it takes time. Stay strong, continue to post your promise, and then live up to it. You're doing very well!

What a great start....
This is what KTC smells like..... Pure Quit!
I quit with you and your daughter today Ant.

I had dipped for four years, not nearly as long as most of you guys but just as much apart of my life. Im in the military so dipping is all around, it gives everybody something to do. Yet I have decided and committed myself to throwing the habit away. I dropped out of the toughest military training in the world out at BUD/s and could make a thousand reasons why I need a dip. I quit on a lot of guys by dropping out of training but I will not quit on you guys. you all have my word. Its not the easiest place to stop dipping out here but I am more than willing to do it for myself, my family, and my girl.
thank you guys for yalls support God Bless and HOOYAH
